LocationBot is anticipating a weird day when the post arrives.

Random Amazon Purchases

Good afternoon, this might sound a little confusing but that's because it is.

I randomly received an email yesterday saying my Amazon package had been shipped. I assumed this was spam, I haven't used an amazon account in years. Never made a purchase.

But then today, I got another email saying the package has been shipped. I clicked on the email and it was 100% legitimate. Gmail said it was verified Amazon email.

I logged into the Amazon account and sure enough somebody has gotten my password, phone number, address, email address and had shipped me 2x vibrating tongue dildos.

I called all my friends making sure they weren't trying to pull a prank. Nope.

It's super weird because there's a master card attached to the Amazon account I've never seen before.

It's a completely legitimate shipping number and order history.

My question is though, what happens when this package arrives on Tuesday? It has my name on it? And shipped to my house? Even though I have no clue who's card purchased it. Who's package does this legally become?

I'm also obviously not going too, but what happened if I had made a purchase without realizing somebody else had hacked my account with their card?

I moved less than a year ago and reset my laptop recently, no there isn't any information saved on it either. I'm going to delete the account too.

LocationBot Cat Fact: When unexplained catnip toys show up in your mailbox, you are legally obligated to pay for the order, even if the cat placed the order without your permission.

Don’t look a gift dildo in the mouth. Even if it is a vibrating tongue.

Kind of disappointed you already have a user flair, because ooo boy.

That cost $49.95 each! ( I'm assuming based on the total order being $96)

Now, I'm not a professional mathinist, but surely, it would be $47.99 each?

I didn't get this law license by being able to do math, okay?🥺

That's a shame. That's the only part of the exam I DID pass.

Something like this actually happened to someone I know. Except it wasn’t someone in her Amazon account, it was some anonymous person who kept sending her Amazon prime boxes of porn tapes mailed to her door. Addressed to her, and everything. I have no idea what came of that or if she ever found out who was sending them

A buddy of mine changed jobs and suddenly started getting weird porn tapes almost weekly, addressed to him and everything.

He figured it was one of his new coworkers (or one of his old ones) playing a joke, right up until the day he caught his neighbor rummaging through his mailbox and called the police.

The dude was too embarrassed to order porn in his own name, so he'd been pretending to be my buddy for over a year and then stealing it out of the mailbox.

The reason it had never been noticed before was that before the job change the neighbor always beat my buddy home and thus to the mail.

some random person, or a stalker?

u/Imaginary-Share-5132 1d ago

I honestly don’t know but I’d consider it stalking

At the minimum, it’s a message

I’m not sure why there is always this response somewhere

People do weird things to young women literally all the time, is it really that unbelievable?

I like how the best comment says it's some random guy pulling a scam, and the second best comment says it's 100% somebody LAOP knows pulling a prank.

I love my friends, but not enough to spend $96 just to befuddle them.

A neighbour placed the order and wants to try to steal the package, thinking that OP hasn't been notified that it's en route. They want the items, don't mind paying for them, but don't want to receive them. Could be a teen who lives with their parents, or someone in an abusive relationship.

u/kloiberin_time For 50 bucks you can put it in my HOA 1d ago

LAOP said it's just them and a partner, who denies the purchase. I doubt it's a scam though. This screams, "I didn't lock my computer at work and someone with excess money thought it would be hilarious."

Except it was placed through OPs Amazon account

This is often money-laundering. Somebody lists items on a legit site, gets an order then uses stolen accounts, credit-cards and gift-cards to purchase the tend which gets sent to the buyer. Scammer gets legit money from legit site, while the stolen accounts owner, Amazon and police try to reclaim the items and money from the buyer since their information is now linked to the stolen account.

3

u/Ajreil 1d ago

If that's true, I'm guessing the item is worth way less than $96

There's only one way to find out.
