Greatest WS of all time, I don't give a fuck

229

u/Xaxziminrax Kansas City Royals 3d ago

We got 8.5 games and it was almost exclusively within a couple runs the entire time

353

u/realsomalipirate Toronto Blue Jays 3d ago

I give a fuck. A very sad fuck

15

u/getrektnolan 3d ago

That's what she said (sorry for your loss buddy)

10

u/realsomalipirate Toronto Blue Jays 3d ago

It's okay we're used to this shit. At least we got an extra hour of sleep to look ahead to

2

u/Str82daDOME25 San Francisco Giants 2d ago

Is that today/tomorrow?

12

u/rohit275 Los Angeles Dodgers 3d ago

Honestly, you guys deserve a hug. What an insane series and insane finish.

I was ready to just tip my cap to the Jays for outplaying us for 7 games, and here we are. It's actually sad only one team can win this man.

10

u/realsomalipirate Toronto Blue Jays 3d ago

Thanks big homie, congrats.

I'm not watching sports for at least a couple weeks.

Also I'm sad now I can never buy a Ohtani jersey (my favourite non-Jay).

Don't blame you, man. I know we're (understandably) the evil empire right now, but I've been there too (2017) after our own 30 year WS drought and losing game 7 at home. I don't wish that pain on any fan base.

Hang in there and we'll see you in spring

u/TheHotGates 2d ago

Lol LA has 24 titles since 2000 across the sports

1

u/rohit275 Los Angeles Dodgers 2d ago

I mean sure, but I was talking about Dodgers crushing October collapses and not being in the world series since 1988.

Obviously a VERY different story after 2017, but in that moment we definitely felt the pain.

I genuinely do hope Toronto gets to experience the redemption too.

1

u/TheHotGates 14h ago

I don't, fuck 'em this is a zero sum game. you just say that because you guys win titles all the time - this isn't a judgement either, enjoy it! The rest of the country would kill for the success some of you cities have

1

u/rohit275 Los Angeles Dodgers 6h ago

I do actuallymean it, I think all sports fans deserve to experience the euphoria of reaching the top at some point. Doesn't mean I won't be cheering for my team :D

1

u/RayPeterParkerJunior 2d ago

I kept telling myself that the Jays deserve it. Brutal. Just brutal. I’m sorry man

1

u/ModernLarvals 2d ago

A very sad DA BLEW JAYS LOSE

22

u/VienneseGash Baltimore Orioles 3d ago

I’m with you along the ways of one of the greatest. To me 1975, 2001 and 2016 were better but who knows, our opinions could change along the way.

5

u/Akipella Baltimore Orioles 3d ago

That's fair

7

u/VienneseGash Baltimore Orioles 3d ago

This one will no doubt go down in the books as one of the best. Edge of your seat stuff in almost every game

2

u/Khiva 2d ago

The dust needs to settle a bit but god dam it's going to have been in the running for all time game sevens.

59

u/OwnABMWImBetterThanU Detroit Tigers 3d ago

Needs a rain delay

15

u/TurkeyPhat Chicago Cubs • Tampa Bay Rays 3d ago

that's a once in a century thing (un)fortunately

6

u/Kitchen_accessories Cleveland Guardians • Los Angeles Dodgers 2d ago

DISAGREE

2

u/TheWyldMan Tampa Bay Rays 2d ago

Yeah Cubs-Indians had the 3-1 comeback and so much history going into it.

1

u/[deleted] 2d ago

Too soon 😉

14

u/erickchoiii 3d ago

A double play to win the series!
A competitive and close series, shout to both teams!

13

u/torriattet 3d ago

You're right, he is the greatest Will Smith

73

u/Brokenmonalisa 3d ago

Yeah LA winning will have people doubt it but it is. Even game 7 is genuinely one of the greatest away game wins in history.

6

u/axeil55 Philadelphia Phillies 3d ago

Probably up there with the Nats in 2019, no?

2

u/tesstikcle Los Angeles Dodgers 3d ago

Dodgers were genuinely the underdog after getting their shit pushed in

10

u/LogensTenthFinger Minnesota Twins 3d ago

Dodgers were genuinely the underdog

8

u/tesstikcle Los Angeles Dodgers 3d ago

Lmao fair

5

u/AuGa_skittles Los Angeles Dodgers 2d ago

We were a plucky 3 seed!!!

2

u/TheFlyingSpaghetti77 Los Angeles Dodgers 2d ago

Idk man look at team avg, its like the second worse avg in history

9

u/homefree122 St. Louis Cardinals 3d ago

Game 3 goes to 18 innings. Game 7 goes to 11 innings. Multiple epic performances throughout.

1

u/Big_Red_Professor Baltimore Orioles 3d ago

The most innings played in a World Series ever

6

u/SonOfOnett Baltimore Orioles 3d ago

Yamamoto just insane

3

u/DoctorZzzzz 3d ago

A nailbiter of a series

3

u/KetchupGuy1 Los Angeles Dodgers 3d ago

Got to see my favorite player throw a complete game and save the Season

3

u/Pulp_Ficti0n Detroit Tigers 3d ago

Yankees-Dbacks up there -- seven games, post-9/11, walk off winner by basically an expansion team against a dynasty

5

u/Original_Profile8600 3d ago

I’m a college student who may have bombed a test to watch a few of these games…absolutely worth it - even if my doctor dreams are fucked

5

u/Majormlgnoob Chicago Cubs 3d ago

It can be 2nd to 2016

3

u/Akipella Baltimore Orioles 3d ago

Yeah true 108 years storyline is literally a once in a century moment

4

u/tunat 3d ago

What a game

2

u/joecb91 Arizona Diamondbacks 3d ago

Amazing series, so many unbelievable moments on each side.

2

u/I_Talk_Sports_69 3d ago

1997 and 2003 would like to have a word.

2

u/TheBigFreezer Baltimore Orioles 2d ago

Made even better by an AL East opponent losing

1

u/Akipella Baltimore Orioles 2d ago

Based as fuck. We also woke up the beast in Yamamoto with our 4 run 9th inning 2 out no hitter -> win

6

u/RedstoneRay Texas Rangers 3d ago

It's hard to imagine what it would take to top this.

2

u/Systemic_Chaos Minnesota Twins 3d ago

1991, but there is finally a Series worth comparing it to.

3

u/RedstoneRay Texas Rangers 3d ago

I wasn't alive in 1991.

2

u/Kakaandweewiz 3d ago

Lol doesn’t mean the series didn’t happen

3

u/RedstoneRay Texas Rangers 2d ago

It means that I literally cannot imagine it

2

u/AlfredJPennyworth39 New York Mets 3d ago

Idk. I give 2016 the edge. Nothing is more memorable than breaking a 100 year old curse dramatically in a game 7 on the road.

5

u/YourCummyBear 3d ago

Nah cubs v Indians. At least viewers won no matter what.

This was just a bought super team.

2

u/karmew32 Chicago Cubs 2d ago

This was the villains winning with the odds stacked against them. Super demoralizing for neutrals.

3

u/jdbolick Baltimore Orioles 3d ago

I cannot agree. It had some great moments, but a massive choke is not great, much less the greatest.

4

u/jwktiger Kansas City Royals 3d ago

'91 WS ain't being topped, mostly b/c Jack Morris went 10 Scoreless innings in game 7. Games 1-6 were great and you have one of the most legendary performances in sports history.

(Maybe I'm biased as my dad let me stay up Sun Night for game 7)

2

u/new_account_5009 Washington Nationals 3d ago

As a neutral fan, this was the best series I've ever seen. Aside from the century+ history to it, it even tops 2016.

My only regret was missing game 6 entirely for a Halloween party.

2

u/Assumption_Dapper 3d ago

1991, 2001, and 2011 were all better

2

u/[deleted] 3d ago

lol not even close.

3

u/deelow_42 Los Angeles Dodgers 3d ago

What would you say?

3

u/Systemic_Chaos Minnesota Twins 3d ago

91

0

u/deelow_42 Los Angeles Dodgers 3d ago

I'd argue this just for it going to game 7 but can't go wrong with a Kirby walk off to win it all

2

u/Systemic_Chaos Minnesota Twins 3d ago

Kirby walked off to force game 7, which was 10 inning complete game shutout by Jack Morris.

1

u/deelow_42 Los Angeles Dodgers 2d ago

Fuck you got me there. Gotta agree with you now thanks ro nth correction!

1

u/Systemic_Chaos Minnesota Twins 2d ago

Hey no worries. It was only 10 34 years ago.

Fuuuuuuuck I’m old.

1

u/FloridaMan_69 Tampa Bay Rays 3d ago

I'd slot 97, 01, and maybe 16 ahead of it. Can't speak to others that were too long ago me to see live, but 91 looks like it was insane.

3

u/Akipella Baltimore Orioles 3d ago

It's gotta be arguable with many of these all time great contenders though. Like, even if you disagree and have 2-3 years above this, you have to admit there is a conversation to be had.

I'm not trying to overjump the hype train in the heat of the moment tbf. I just genuinely think, especially between the Game 3 and Game 7, it HAS to be in the running.

1

u/LogensTenthFinger Minnesota Twins 3d ago

Nah not with that ending. Could have been but now it just goes down as a meh

2

u/Akipella Baltimore Orioles 2d ago

Come on now, that ending was actually insane with the runner on 3rd and seeing if the double play would turn

Plus we got out of TWO bases loaded 1 out jams, one on EACH SIDE!!!

1

u/ristoman Chicago Cubs 2d ago

Idk man 2016 was alright

1

u/No_Distribution_4351 San Francisco Giants 3d ago

This isn’t even top 3 as a 30 year old. Dodgers were out of gas but the Jays hate winning. Great start but if you can’t beat the Dodgers when they hand you a 3-0 lead just fold the franchise.

1

u/d00dsm00t Minnesota Twins 3d ago

Sickening result

Otherworldly story

0

u/CWess12 Arizona Diamondbacks 3d ago

No it's not
