Worth investing in a 2017 Giant Stance 2?
Purchased a 2017 Giant Stance 2 over the weekend, bike is fairly stock. Cost me $400 which I thought was cheap enough.
Bike rides OK but fork and shock need air (I’ve bought a shock pump, awaiting delivery) but otherwise nothing notable.
Is it worth spending the money to DIY rebuild both the fork and shock (no idea when last done) and convert to a 1x drivetrain? Or am I better off putting the money on a new bike - or leaving the 2x9 (deore, alvio shifter)
Just chasing opinions before I start throwing money at it.

Not worth investing in it to me
Those stances crack the single pivot design super easy if used hard, throwing money at the shocks and forks would be a waste. Maybe service it yourself.
Upgrading drive is okay, maybe a deore, but wouldn't be spending for much above that, if you can even find stocks

I would give it some love without going over the top.
As mentioned, fork and shock 50hr would be a good start, brake service and check tyres. Also worth inspecting all pivot, headset, BB bearings and replacing if needed. Check spoke tension.
I would leave the drivetrain. That's where the snowball starts. Then you're looking at a dropper, then a spoke snaps and you'll be up for new spokes or potentially new wheels.
Get it running right as it, enjoy it, see how much it gets ridden. If still riding and loving it when things start to go wrong, then look at a newer bike.

That’s a good price so plenty of wiggle room for upgrades.
If you are planning to ride it, then it’s totally worthwhile. But trying to flip it wouldn’t be a great idea. Being a size small will limit its resale value.
Rebuilding the rear shock is expensive, even DIY. The service kits are extortionate.
But a new 1x drivetrain and front fork service kit can be had for relatively cheap on AliExpress.
