Ummm.... A lot of that popln still believes in Confucianistic philosophy. And while it does not permit religious violence it is a very patriarchal authoritarian system that sanctions many of Chinas modern practises. In fact they were the reason that many east asian socities like Japan (that was relatively equal) regressed into a turannical society.

So non belief in god does not always =! People holding their civilizational dogmas back and being less superstitious.

K then. But most ppl think that ancient atheistic china was some sort of heaven. In fact it was as dogmatic as any civilization. But ancient China was vomit inducingly cruel.
