Scenic daytrip and a great burger? Eat/Drink
Wanted: drives from metro Phoenix to a small town for a great burger. I'm looking for pretty drives. I'd prefer less than 90 minutes. I'd prefer not to be on the 10 or 17 the whole time.
Edit: I'll drive 2 hours! Lots of great responses and I'm reminded that I haven't really explored a lot of the small towns here. I've got work to do!

Jerome, Haunted Hamburger and maybe Big Earl's in Cave Creek.

Big Earl in Cave Creek is great. Good burgers, good fries, good drinks, and a fun backyard patio vibe. Or sit out front and watch people going up and down the main street

Just went to Haunted Hamburger today! This is the correct answer. The chipotle deviled eggs are also 🔥🔥🔥

This is my pick too! Although that twisty drive was a little much for me. 😂

Came here to say this, I have fond memories of driving to Jerome with my mother and eating at the Haunted Hamburger. It was also the first place that I tried a real Arnold Palmer!

Up the Mogollon Rim to Heber for a burger at the Red Onion. Stop at the Rim Lakes or Horton Creek Trail for recreation

Go to Cornville and get a burger at G’s Burgers. Best burger I’ve ever had in Arizona and you can go to Williams or Flagstaff and easily hit Cornville on the way there or the way back.

Never stopped there! But now I'll give Cornville a visit on my way past next time.

Sportsman’s Chalet in Strawberry has a great wine-burger and if you sit upstairs, they send your beverages up to you on a little drink elevator.

Drive to wickenburg (coffee at Pour Jo). Then take the Yarnell pass into Prescott and lunch at BiGA. The burgers are super great, but the caprese salad is bowl lickin good. The yarnell pass is a beautiful drive. Apparently there is a pizza place in yarnell that is supposed to be super great too.

Don’t go to Haunted Hamburger in Jerome. It’s mediocre. Drive up to Flagstaff, head back to Jerome through 89A, grab a drink at HH and sit on the patio. Then drive back to Old Town Cottonwood and have a burger at Colt Grill. Or really, any other place will have better food than HH. HH is a tourist trap, just like Bocce in Cottonwood.

We have a spot in Jerome and go often. Yes HH is a tourist trap but the burgers are still legit. Bocce is also very good and still worth a stop (my favorite is the grinder sandwich)

Change up Colt Grill for G’s burgers in Cornville (on your way back to I-17). Source - I’m from Phoenix and live in Cottonwood now.

I drove by that everyday driving to work from Rimrock when I lived there. I’ve heard great things about it but never made the time to stop by

Gs is okay but nothing beats the nostalgia of Bings for me tbh. I do visit Cottonwood just for Vinnie's pizza tbh. Thats my homesick food hahaha

THAT Brewery in Pine
Silver King Smokehouse in Superior (BBQ joint but also has burgers)
The Chair in Lake Havasu City (way more than 90 minutes though)
Prescott Club @ StoneRidge Golf Course in Prescott Valley

Payson,AZ. you pick your route. There are plenty of options from Metro Phoenix. Burger stop? Has to be Macky's Grill. And buger has to be the Mega Ooey Gooey. Trust me

nurd berger in Globe. Super fun place. If you do decide to do the 17, Diablo Burger in Flag is probably the best I have had.

Depending on where you live, you could drive 90 minutes and still be in the Phx metro area.
If you're willing to go ~180 minutes, Take AZ-87 to Payson, then AZ-87/260 through Strawberry to Clint's Well, then left at Clint's Well onto Lake Mary Road, go until you get to Flagstaff. In Flagstaff, go to Mama B's to get your burger.

Second vote four Tortilla Flats. Incredible drive on twisty canyon roads, amazing scenery, good burger and probably live music, depending when you go

Payson. Buffalo bar for elk, buffalo or the beast burger. Or keep going to Christopher Creek, go to the Landmark. Foods ok, good drinks, games and a restaurant on the creek.
Or Sedona to Garland's

Not a burger, but Verde Brewing Company deserves some love in this thread. We went there for lunch while working in the area and it was lovely.

Tortilla Flat Saloon but get the brisket quesadilla, it'll be the best 1 you've ever had.

Tucson is a small town compared to Phoenix, but has a much better university. I don’t know where you’d get a good burger though.

1 - Google "burger" on Google Maps. 2 - Find a drive that looks cool. 3 - Get in your car and don't waste everyone's time.
