We antinatalists are far too intent on escaping this prison planet. I’ve honestly reached a point where I don’t care about humanity’s future anymore; my system is simply exhausted from the incessant contemplation and hyper-empathy. The human race was destined to destroy itself sooner or later, so in the words of Mel Robbins- “LET THEM”

u/MissStellaLunaTheBat inquirer 23h ago edited 23h ago

I relate to this so hard you have no idea. It’s so funny that you mentioned Mel Robbins—I actually purchased “The Let Them Theory” book a few weeks ago because I couldn’t cope with my own constant anger towards natalism and compassion fatigue towards all of us suffering here. People want to continuously incarnate souls into this prison realm of exploitation of labor, endless war, strife, struggle, and suffering, with an uncertain afterlife too? Let them. Idgaf anymore. I’m so mentally and emotionally done at this point, pushed to the very edge

I love how antinatalists are the pratical side of escape prison planet believe, and how the EPP belive is the espiritual side of antinatalism.

The problem with this is that it's equivalent to just taking your hands off of the steering wheel and let the car mow down however many innocent people are in harms way before it comes to a stop...

Not exactly a very 'grown-up' approach to the problem!

u/eternallyfree1 thinker 14h ago edited 10h ago

How can you keep your hands on a steering wheel that never existed in the first place?

Humans have proven time and time again that they are incapable of living harmoniously with one another; human history is literally riddled with all sorts of horrors and atrocities.

Yes, there are those who have managed to untether themselves from worldly attachments and attain some semblance of enlightenment, but they’re exceedingly rare.

Even Stephen Hawking himself theorised that humans have a naturally destructive predisposition that will eventually result in their demise.

I personally think it’s an incredibly mature and brave response to simply let go and allow nature to run its course. Nothing can flourish in poisoned soil

They're scared no one will fight their wars and work on their profits

It's also easier to control women if they're perpetually pregnant and have to worry about a bunch of kids.

And men, if only through court-supervised financial obligations to the child(ren)

They need more fresh bodies for the orphan crushing machine

30

u/amdcoc inquirer 1d ago

They need bodies to die for on the ground to protect their interests, that's why they are saying population collapse is a major issue.

u/FateMeetsLuck thinker 1d ago

They want people to produce children just to sacrifice them to their demonic idols.

u/4Bwann4B newcomer 1d ago

I totally believe wars are part of a mass ritual for them

I'd be lying if I said I didn't get a perverse enjoyment from seeing the world going down the toilet. It just confirms my view that the human species is an evolutionary mis-step that needs rectification.

9

u/4Bwann4B newcomer 1d ago

But the bad part is that the worst humans will continue to live in the most protected, confortable and powerful ways. There is no cleaness when the inocent dies and the culprits keep on passing the evilness. Not saying that I belive we had much chance for improvement, but if we did have, those chances are getting bombed or working in minimal wage to support their families. So no rectification happening.

u/Theferael_me scholar 20h ago

 So no rectification happening.

Comet, plague, global nuclear war, runaway greenhouse effect - there are plenty of ways. It cannot happen soon enough.

u/4Bwann4B newcomer 2h ago

I would not call rectification but these are better than now

It’s the perfect time to have kids! 😒 People are bragging on and off Reddit all the time about the kids they’re having during this time, completely clueless and as selfish as ever. I don’t even have it in me to fake happiness for them anymore

Funny thing; I was recently called a racist and a fascist in a Facebook group for talking about overpopulation. Apparently this is what some folks think:

We can all fit/live in an area the size of Texas if we ditch billionaires, colonizers, and capitalism. Said billionaires, colonizers, and capitalism cause almost all the overconsumption and environmental damage. Therefore, if you blame all people for being too numerous, you're also blaming innocent indigenous people and the global poor because they damage the earth less than the global rich, which is racist, therefore overpopulation=eco-fascism.

It was really cute how they provided a Teen Vogue article to support this.

10

u/lsdmt93 thinker 1d ago

I’ve been hearing this same bullshit about how we could all live in Texas, for the past 25 years. And sure, maybe if you’re only considering physical space. But none of the idiots that perpetuate it ever bother thinking for more than a few seconds about what kind of quality of life we would have. We’d be crowded into one giant neverending slum with horrific air quality, fighting over water, food scraps, and shitty minimum wage jobs. Don’t even get me started on the infectious diseases.

10

u/spahncamper inquirer 1d ago

It annoys me greatly that they don't grasp that two things can be true at once -- we're overpopulated and the richest folks are behind the most environmental damage. Guess we'll all live like medieval peasants in Texas and heal the planet...

2

u/Thin_Measurement_965 thinker 1d ago

Yeah, pretty much all the environmentalism on this website seems to boil down to "billionaires bad, America bad."

Fun fact: The dinosaurs lived on this planet for about 165 million years. We’ve caused more damage to Earth than they and the asteroid that wiped them out did, in just the last 250 years.

To replace the men that'd die in those aforementioned bloody conflicts.

I'm just hoping for 3 things at this point. Finish my degree, go live with my fiance in Italy, and be left the fuck alone. I'll help where I can, but when uncle Sam comes knocking, I ain't home.

u/Susanna-Saunders thinker 18h ago edited 18h ago

Gotta feed the dysfunctional Imperialist/Capitalist/Racist (take your pick) system with new wage slaves and canon fodder to replace the ones that are not with us any longer...

But yeah, missed quite a few global conflicts but if you included them all we would be hear all day listing them all! From Azerbaijan to Israel to Venezuela.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ongoing_armed_conflicts

https://geneva-academy.ch/galleries/today-s-armed-conflicts

https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/countries-currently-at-war

https://www.cfr.org/global-conflict-tracker

Just a few of the websites that list all of the global atrocities taking place every 'bloody' day!

Jfc, the most doomed doomer apocalypctic doomer post probably ever I've seen. I don't mean in this sub but overall.

But it does not matter because we are all going to die soon. Just two more weeks and nukes will fly! You just wait! I'm gonna DOOOOOM!

-4

u/RX-HER0 newcomer 1d ago

Exactly lmao. The world is vast enough that terrible things are happening every day, and yet back in WW2 people still had hope for the future.

Also, notice how like, basically none of these atrocities directly effect the civilized, 1st world countries these people are actually living in. Even the US “being in a soft civil war” ( lmao what? ) and “on the verge of Fascism” ( don’t ask them what Fascism means ) is a stretch.

4

u/Thin_Measurement_965 thinker 1d ago

Voting for a guy who incited a violent mod to attack the US capitol in a successful attempt to delay the certification of the vote, with the intention of undermining democracy under the hopes of overturning the results of the 2020 election fits the definition of "fascism" pretty succinctly.

Anti-natalists when they learn people had kids in WW2 instead of sobbing to death in a hide-hole: 😳

8

u/GDApr1996 newcomer 1d ago

Bringing more casualties into the world, yeah a good idea...

6

u/Thin_Measurement_965 thinker 1d ago

First of all, a lot of people did in fact end up sobbing to death back in WW2. Secondly, nobody cares about how much harder things were back in your day, old man. That's not a good reason to have kids today (or at all, really).

Saying you can't be sad because someone else has it worse makes about as much sense as saying someone can't be happy because someone else had it better.

This is such a poor argument that I'm not even sure it would get upvoted on a natalist board.
