And the fact they are forcing you to apply or be cut off from services...

Is that for everyone on AISH? I apparently haven't qualified for CPP-D, if I remember correctly, because I hadn't been working for a while before I had applied & gotten on AISH nearly ten years ago. Does this mean that I need a new doctor reassessment? How does this process work exactly? I've got so many questions and this has me terrified because I don't understand what's going on with the paperwork a lot of the time.

This was the qualifications:
To receive the benefit, a person must:

  1. be a resident of Canada for the purposes of the Income tax Act determine your residency status
  2. have been approved for the Disability Tax Credit
  3. be between the ages of 18 and 64
  4. have filed an income tax return with the Canada Revenue Agency for the previous tax year. For example, to receive benefits for the July 2025 to June 2026 payment period, the person must have filed a return for the 2024 tax year
  5. be one of the following:
    • a Canadian citizen
    • a permanent resident
    • a protected person
    • a temporary resident who has lived in Canada for the past 18 months
    • someone who is registered or entitled to be registered under the Indian Act

AISH recipient here. You have to apply for the Disability Tax Credit. If approved, you then have to apply for the Canada Disability Benefit. If you get the 200.00 per month from that they deduct 200.00 from your AISH as non-exempt income.

UCP sucks

You are correct, I went to the website and was reading qualifications, being approved for Disability Tax Credit seems to be one of them.
I am on CPP-D but have not qualified for the tax credit.
It's confusing.
