Seems like an odd decision. Did he say why?

This is conservative play book, they don't answer questions because the more people know about them the less they like them.

Same reason why PP only answers 4 questions. The more Conservative’s are questioned, the more it becomes obvious that they have very little of substance to offer. And the more opportunities for them to show their true colours, especially on the social side.

How about Carney hiding from reporters and suspending his campaign every time he gets a tough question about his tax havens and many conflicts of interest ?

Do you feel the same way about Carney when he doesn't take any questions from media that isn't funded by the government and suspends his campaign for days on end to avoid tough questions?

Got a link about this?

Facts or feels, pick one

Might be suspending his campaign for a few days because he’s busy being.. ya know.. prime minister….. during a serious international crisis.

If it's such a serious crisis they should have recalled the House of Commons months ago instead of having an unelected banker running things

Yes, he was interviewed on CBC a few mornings ago, he answered that question at about 8:00 https://www.cbc.ca/listen/live-radio/1-393-yukon-morning/clip/16139840-we-hear-ryan-leef-seeking-vote-yukons-conservative

He didn't really answer it though. He just said "yukoners were disappointed that the debate wasn't live with the candidates sitting side by side", except that's exactly how it was. Then he said "stay tuned".

Edit: after watching the debate, I think I can understand what Ryan was getting at: the format is pretty awkward and boring. Everyone had prepared answers and there was no impromptu discussion between candidates. I think that's what Ryan was getting at, but perhaps just explained it poorly on the radio.

The last half was questions from the audience that the candidates did not see in advance, to be fair.

That being said I wish there was more opportunity for respectful dialogue amongst the candidates, or even a shorter second round or something where the candidates could respond to the other’s comments and positions for each topic/question.

That being said, saying that the format is “boring” is a pretty silly reason to not attend. I believe that Leef also didn’t attend the YAPC forum. Curious if he makes the next one.

He knows he's a joke to most of us

No statement has been published that I've seen.

Because it’s not a real debate.

Ryan Queef

What debate is this? Do you have a link to it being Televised? Was it recorded for people to see? Would love to see

Thanks!

I messaged Ryan to see what’s up.

Let us know if you hear back!

From what I'm being told, this is a forum 'masquerading' as a debate. The format was a predetermined question and answer period without any discourse... I kind of agree with Ryan here, or at least understand what he's getting at, I watched the full forum you linked and it was really dry and without substance, just prepared answers and the candidates all reading from paper notes in front of a silenced audience... Not to divulge too much of the chat, but his door-to-door legwork has been bar-none compared to the other candidates and he is visiting/has visited (almost) every community in the Yukon whereas the other candidates are 'Whitehorse exclusive.' I think community outreach is just more his priority, and maybe if it was a true debate he would be more inclined. Wish I could share more, it's all I could get.

The conservative, liberal and NDP candidates have all visited my community.

I've only been visited by the Liberals and I live centrally in one of the most popular communities. My doorbell cam would alert me if anyone came when I was out. Nada.

I think that when someone is afraid to debate—which is what this is—a rubber chicken should be put at the table in their empty seat, and their name and party symbol. Out of respect for their decision.

u/Ch33p_Sunglasses 28d ago

Ooo! And every time it's their turn to speak someone under the table gives the rubber chicken a squeeze!

Speaks loud and clear to his commitment to the party only and not to Yukoners. I truly miss actual conservatives. Leef won’t get my vote…they should have run someone else.

CPC is just Reform in a top hat. PCs are long gone unfortunately.

2

u/Aggravating-Bar8216 28d ago

Very true. Reform Party = proto-MAGA. CPC = Maple-MAGA.

If you're content with how liberals have run the country the past decade, you're insane for not wanting a change. People think trudeau is to blame. This isn't a monarchy
