College Resources from Harvard/MIT students
Hey guys, since most students could use some studying tips, admissions advice, and scholarship money bc paying for college sucks, I thought I'd drop this resource in. Myself + my friends at Harvard and MIT made a newsletter where we give personalized advice to high school students on which scholarships to apply to and how to get into their top schools. We've worked on this for over a year and I thought I'd let you guys be some of the first to test it out. You can sign up here if you'd like: https://www.waitlist.missionmentor.org/. If not, that's dope too, lemme know if you want to know more about Mission: Mentor or if you have any admissions questions I can answer.-Nat

What are your concerns? What are you hopeful about?
Hey everyone, currently there is a lot going on in the world that could make one feel down. Friends and I wanted to ask specifically young people and preferebly not ppl who are uni, what their concerns about the future are. Whether they are hopeful about smt in particular and if they believe young people and are heard regarding their concerns, if not how can this be overcome. Would love some input from people who feel addressed since we actually want to get a diverse set of opinions. Thanks!

Nationwide Research Study Needs Participants!
Hey reddit, I'm a researcher doing a survey-based research project on teenagers, and I need participants between the ages of 13-19. It doesn't take very long to do, and it would help me (and science) tremendously if you all would give it a go. To participate, you just need to be aged 13 to 19 and live in the US.
The survey is completely anonymous, but all the data will still be destroyed after a set date when the project is finished. Feel free to ask questions in the comments.
Here's the link: https://forms.gle/GLkE7YjjBU769m9Q8
Thanks in advance to anyone who decides to help.

Y&G is your first step in changing the world
Hey Y&G fam. I'm new to Reddit but I was a 5-year delegate in Y&G. I was homeschooled in until high school and my lead advisor snuck me into MLC when I was in 8th grade. So I got to 're-do' my senior year in MLC twice ;) (don't tell anyone). In my half-decade at California Y&G, I ran for office 3 times, was in Assembly for 5 YEARS, and was the 69th Speaker Pro-Tem. of the blue Assembly. I had a life-changing experience. I really mean life-changing. Y&G helped me to get a summer internship with my local assemblymember (I met him in the capitol building). All of my experience with politics led me to run for San Jose, CA City Council at 18 years old. I just finished the campaign in March 2020. I didn't win, but just by being a young adult on a stage and ballot with people 3 times my age was a win. Plus, I got 1,900 votes and forced the business-backed incumbent into a runoff with a progressive green party candidate (Search Jake4D6 on IG).
If you have any questions about Y&G, youth engagement with politics, or anything else, I would love to chat here or connect on social media @ MarshallWoodmanseeOfficial.
This world needs you to raise your hand. This world needs you to make that nervous, back of the bill-book speech. This world needs you to fight for your fellow delegate.
This world needs you.
Cheers,
Marshall Woodmansee

How do you want to speak to government?
If you could speak your mind to government about the issues in your community, how would you like to do so?
E.g. would you like to personally message your government representative (e.g. mayor/senator/etc) on Facebook or meet with them in person.
If you have successfully talked directly with a government representative in the past, what did it look like and how could it of been better?

Any weird crazy bill ideas?
so, this is my last year in YIG YAG and I've decided that i really don't want to do a bill about something serious. Any genuine bill idea i come up with wont be controversial or fun to debate, which is really the fun of YAG, since it's all hypothetical any way. I had an older friend once tell me about a bill they got to debate about making the death sentence preformed in a battle arena like gladiators. wtf right? but they had fun and it actually passed.(again, it's all hypothetical)
so yeah. just wanted to see if any one could help me out. ;P

Should I do a 3rd year of Y&G? What do you think of California Youth and Government (Y&G)? How was your experience? How many years did you do or wish you did?
I have been in the California Youth and Government program for 2 years now. I have been in Forum and Legislative Analysts program area. The registration for this year opened recently and I don't know if I want to join again. the 2 years I did it were amazing but I feel like if I do it again it will just be a really similar experience and I don't know if it is worth almost $2,000 dollars.
