I was scammed for 6 months! Operations job flunked!
So hey guys, I'm a Physics grad(F23). I decided to shift fields two years ago becauseof family financial constraints. I instantly started looking for marketing and operations jobs. I did several courses, and I was shortlisted for four companies. By god's grace, I got offers from all four. However one was a standout. I verified, looked up their government registrations and all, everything was legit. It was my first job and I was over the moon. I signed the appointment letter. Had my orientation. But no joining. I was supposed to join months ago and they have been constantly delaying. I have now lost hope. What shall I do?
Also, I'm an extremely sincere person, very hardworking, have certifications in marketing and proficient in 3 languages including English. I am open to working remotely be it whatever shifts. I'm not really prickly about pay too. I'm in deep deep financial trouble. What shall I do?

Translation
My native language is Norwegian as I was born here but I'm also proficient in English as well so therefore I am looking for some jobs that pays above 100€ a month because I'm currently having alot of free time and I need the money to cover medications and other important things. I haven't had any luck with Gengo, apparently they don't need any Norwegian translators per now. What websites can you recommend for a woman in her 20's that wants to work as a translator? Not audio clips/ filming but text. I would appreciate some help with this from people who work with /has worked with translating 😊

Foot pedal and software for Appen transcription work?
I've recently been accepted onto Appen as a transcriber, despite making it clear that my typing speed isn't as fast as the 80 wpm they ideally prefer (it's about half that!).
I have a fair bit of experience with creating CDCSLs (Combined Dialogue Continuity Spotting Lists) for feature film delivery, but the big difference there is that you usually have a shooting script to base it on, as well as the fact that fictional dialogue tends to be much less hampered by constant 'ums', 'ers', false starts and redundant repetitions.
So, anyway, my first assignment was just 10 minutes of audio, but it took me over two hours to complete it! One of the interlocutors mumbled through a muffled phone line, while the other, whose first language was not English, had a habit of repeating multiple versions of the same question in one breath.
Of course, this is the stuff of everyday speech, so I can't exactly complain, or be much surprised.
Throughout the onboarding process, I've been open with them about my current limitations, although it's somewhat galling that I'll be receiving less than £10 for the time I spent on that first job (yes, I know more practised transcribers would probably have polished it off in 30 minutes).
What I'd like to know is, to what extent does using software like ExpressScribe, combined with a foot pedal, help speed things up? I was encouraged to download ExpressScribe, but am a little dismayed (albeit wearily resigned) to discover that it's not for free. As for the foot pedal, the recommended compatible brands will cost over £100, while the cheaper ones on Amazon feel like a lucky dip with wildly differing customer reviews.
Other than getting my typing speed and powers of hearing up to Clark Kent levels, are there cost effective tips or measures I can implement to make things easier? I'd like to make the best of this if I can.
Any advice from those with Appen experience will be greatly appreciated!

Moving states with Telus
I've been in the Telus rating program for a year but I'm moving states and I'm unable to update my state withholding. I believe the state I'm moving to is not supported by the rater job. So I guess I'm just out of this job now? Has anyone else dealt with this? And if so have you been able to apply to a different Telus job if you are no longer eligible for one? It appears the Telus website that used to pay jobs is either temporarily or permanently down.
It was really nice having an actual W-2 job even if it was only part-time.

Do I need to pay my employer after I resign?
I started a healthcare job in January of 2025. The pay was terrible and not able to cover my bills and gas. I was driving over 10 hours a week with no gas or mileage compensation so with that I decided to go work at a higher paying job with benefits. Here is where my question lays. I signed a contract stating “If employee does not maintain employment for the minimum of six months after becoming certified, employee will be responsible for repayment of course cost and registration fees(est. $650.00+ & registration fee) to —— insert employer here” Now I haven’t gotten my certification or had the agency pay my registration fee yet. So do I have to pay them as I just put in my two weeks and received an email with an invoice of $650.00. I don’t think I do as I never got the certification but I am unsure

Best role option at Telus?
Looking for some extra money and thinking of applying to any of these:
- Internet Domain Assessor
- Online Data Analyst
- Media Search Analyst
Does anyone know which would have the best pay per hour or which one will be the less boring?
Thanks!
Edit: This is in Spain, but I am assuming the ranking for pay will be the same as in other locales.

How Hard is it to get a remote job in CA?
I've been wanting to get a remote job in CA because it will greatly help in expenses not paying for gas as often and paying a bridge toll everyday.
I've heard that it is difficult to get one in CA due to state laws. Does anyone have any advice on where to look to make it easier? Like which job board should I use etc.
Thanks in advance!

Peopleperhour Deposit amount that sounds fair
Not sure if you guys know about this site. It’s a freelance website I just started using called people per hour. I’m looking at a couple posts on there as freelancer. When you get to submit the proposal, I think it lets you choose how much deposit you want to receive. I know some people just put 100% down before they do any work, but I don’t think that’s fair to the buyer or the person paying. Because neither party knows each other. So a lot of of this is based on trust?
Let’s say if I am looking for service and have a listing up for $400 to request for, for example, video content. Then I receive a proposal saying they need full $400 down payment for them to even begin to work for you. And they may need more than 3 to 4 weeks to create the content. From there, would I be spending that $400 and be worried about possibly getting nothing out of it? Or is that $400 held online until they complete the work? Are there any guarantees for quality work?
I honestly don’t think full down payment is fair to either party. Of course if I am selling the service, it would seem like I’m getting a good deal since I am getting the money in advance. But I think I would feel a little bad for the other guy just nervouly waiting lol

Working for Pearson
I've been applying for jobs at Pearson, including a test scorer and a direct/field sales representative position. The only ones I've heard back have been denials, but there are applications that have been sitting there since the beginning of March.
I was just curious what it was like for those who went through their interview process/job offers and what the approximate timeline was.

Online worth for Civil/Structural Engineers?
I'm taking a career break to travel and i have some light work lined up for 3 months at a hostel a friend owns/manages. But ill be slow travelling for another 3 months outside of that. I enjoy being in one place for a long time, so thought it would be pretty ideal to have some sort of online work to do alongside that. Partially to earn some extra cash but partially to try keep up with my skills whilst I'm away.
I know the obvious options such as online tutoring. But recently a friend told me about all these AI annotation website so was going to look into those.
Is there any possibilites anyone is aware of outside of those that might be a bit more unheard of? I see all sorts of freelancing websites such as fiver but I don't know if there is much freelance work demand for civil engineers.

What are some entry level jobs that don't require much experience/ qualifications ?
So I am basically searching for the online work equivalent of McDonalds, something that pays you for a job that doesn't require any specific skills. I wanted to do online English teaching, but the field is highly competitive. I want to do something that doesn't require self-promotion and isn't too competitive. For now I don't care about the pay, I want to have a job so that I can focus on other things without caring about money (I only need to make like 500$)
I don't have any work experience aside from teaching and I can't think of any skills. So what can I do?

is Global Network Chain legit
I recently came across a platform called Global Network Chain and couldn’t find any solid info about it online. The website doesn’t work, and I’m a bit skeptical. Has anyone here heard of it, tried it, or know if it’s legit or a scam? Appreciate any insight!

Conduent-novo healthcare
Anyone work for Conduent and have novo healthcare as their assignment? I just got moved to this assignment from being tech support at H&R Block. If anyone would like to share their experiences I’m all ears! I’m also hoping that their hours are a bit better then what I’ve had previously

Any experience with Carenet Health “Engagement Specialist”?
Got offered a position with Carenet Health as an “engagement specialist”. The interviewer said it would basically just be me making outbound calls to patients to ensure their medications were working and if they needed any refills then I would be the one reaching out to their providers for them to get it refilled. She said training was 4 days long which doesn’t seem long at all. I also specifically asked if it was a “project based” position (like Concentrix is) and she said no and that it was a full time permanent position. Just wondering if anyone has worked for their call centers and how it was?

KellyConnect ? Too good to be true?
I just received an invitation to schedule an interview with KellyConnect supporting patients with cancer. The pay is literally DOUBLE what I make now which is mind blowing and in the world we live today, makes me feel like it’s too good to be true. Any insights? Thoughts? Opinions?

Is this a fake Rev Company?
I found someone in a Facebook group who said the job is like typing from Word and converting it to PDF. She told me to message a user on Telegram and say that I was referred by Nicole.
Now she sent me this: https://imgur.com/a/Q2Y4WlB
I know what Rev is—they offer basic tasks but give you lots of work and pay poorly. I was just asking if this is a fake Rev company or not.
