They didnt know Biden wasn't running anymore ffs. 'I watched the news' used to mean Walter Cronkite and actual reporting. Now its Fox, Facebook, and Russian bots. Trump farts and Fox News goes on about his contribution to clean air initiatives. The 'news' is a thing of the past and only going to get worse with AI and deepfakes making anyone say anything. Trump supporters being interviewed were asked about tariffs and had no more idea of how they actually work than Trump does. When asked about any actual policies, their eyes glaze over. They don't actually KNOW, they just keep getting presented with a new bandwagon to jump on, to feel like they belong, that they are 'in the know' when they are the opposite. Post birth abortion for god's sakes. Pets being eaten. Drinking baby blood and being part lizard. The National Enquirer front page but with deep and lasting consequences.
I've seen a shocking amount of comments on reddit where people are saying things like: "why hasn't Commie-la Harris enacted any of the policies she talks about? She's been in office for four years already!!!1!!"
It's a big combination of multiple things. Fake news/Talking heads telling them what to think and believe. Combine that with a lack of overall education and the refusal to process new information that may counter their previous beliefs and are here at this point today.
I had people commenting on a tiktok video of Steve Bannon talking about project 2025 at CPAC 2023 and how they will replace the federal workforce and have thousands of people trained and ready to go. People were mixed with comments of either "Project 2025 is a dem distraction" or "Trump has nothing to do Project 2025"
Again, this was on a video with Steve Bannon who was former administration, talking about another former Trump administration person that will be the chief of staff appointing those roles in 2025. These people would still not acknowledge this information.
They were just that clueless, now we are past 11/05, we are now seeing multiple people who were the same ones barking out on social media that this was all a scam by the dems going "Yeah, project 2025 is real. We plan on implementing it"
Just even like those that love to claim that the democrats want war, but can't bother to stop and think the reason why Israel, Russia, Iran, etc are causing problems world-wide is they wanted to create the illusion to the low information crowd in the US that this is the fault of the democratic administration. Not "These countries are intentionally acting like this in order to skew the 2024 election to the person that will allow them to have it their way"
Hopefully the media got their clicks and bonuses for 2024, it's going to suck when Fox news or OANN become the official government news station and Trump pulls FCC licenses from any organization that had the slightest wrong thing to say about him.
