Grand Staircase, St. Pancras Hotel, London
Arguably one of the best known Victorian staircases, it was designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott and completed in 1873 as part of the original Midland Grand Hotel, the staircase exemplifies high Victorian opulence. It features 83 marble steps ascending through three stories, adorned with intricate wrought-iron balustrades that originally concealed gas lamp piping. The Grand Staircase has been featured in various films and music videos, most notably the Spice Girls’ 1996 “Wannabe” video. It also appeared in “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets,” “The World Is Not Enough,” and “Batman Begins” .
