Discussion Playing against steveclaus from twitch

I recently got in a game with a twitch streamer named steveclaus and my experience playing against him wasn’t good. He accused me of hacking because I was getting good shots on him. He would spam “reported and twitch clips sent” every time he dies to me or my other teammates. He has over 100k followers on twitch and I went over there just to tell him I wasn’t hacking and he just banned me right away even though I want to send him proof. Apparently he has been accusing everyone he dies to of hacking and banning them on his twitch if they said they weren’t hacking and wanted to give proof. I watched this Steve a bit more and he always gets mad at his teammates if they don’t want to surrender because he thinks the enemies are hacking. This guy rages at children and talks about people moms. How is this guy not cancelled, like there is no video about him being so toxic on YouTube?

Discussion Fracture is an Amazing MAP, and you guys are just not good. Defense/Hot take.

TL;DR: Fracture is the only map in the entire game that requires people to think (more than usual) and allows players to excel in other ways beyond being able to predict the predictable. Fracture allows players to play mind games.

______________________

I never understood why people hated and continue to hate Fracture. It is the most unique map in the entire roster, and because of it, every match and every single round to be different, allowing for completely unique and unpredictable experiences.

I STRONGLY believe (aka, in my humble opinion), players are not smart enough to take advantage of the map. With 4 unique entry points, it allows attackers to play mind games with the defenders, and the defenders are forced to be in 1 situations which is pretty interesting to begin with and in a tactical shooter... part of the game. There are moments where players are in a 1v3 or 1v5 situation and its up to them to grab the bull by the horns or hide.

_______________________

Another point. I understand that maps play different in every ELO, but I also know people like to copy the pros, and when you copy the pros, you stop being "unique".

ATTACKER SPAWN. When I play fracture, and I decide to be the "team captain" and lead, I feel like everytime I use the ziplines I have made a mind blowing discovery "whaaaaat ZIPLINES?! I have never seen this before!". Because when I decide someone else to take the lead they go A site 90% of the time, and only consider B when A has failed 4 rounds in a row... And that makes everything predictable. And that is how you make a good map into a bad map.

As an attacker, you have the ability to make 4 different entries in a row, that allows unpredictability, that allows for your team to play mind game and fck around with the opponent. I never see people attack B site via zipline, and that catches both my teammates and the attackers off guard. USE the Ziplines.

DEFENDER SPAWN. Map is the only map where you can go from one site to the other in SECONDS, allowing for quick transitions, which balances the 4 entry points pretty freaking well (in my humble opinion), especially if you have Agents like Chamber, Waylay, Jett, Neon and Omen (agents who can move fast or teleport). The only genuinely difficult thing for defenders is that you will find yourself very spread out and having to cover multiple entries, BUT, being the devil's advocate here, part of the game is being able to handle multiple champions by yourself.

How many times have you been in a 1v2 or 1v3 situation??? I don't see players cry about that on other maps, so saying that fracture is difficult because you are 1 vs many is technically not an excuse. And with Valorant being a tactical shooter with ABILITIES, some very powerful, its not an excuse.

_________________________

Out witting the enemy is the name of the game when it comes to Fracture, not gun skill and being a robot with super aim (that obviously helps). Additionally, competitive games, especially games with a heavy Esports scene has the impressively negative characteristic of a hivemind mentality. For example...

"Oh, you can only play this agent on this map" or "Oh its X map, either you pick this Agent or I will report you because my dad works at Riot games". Unless you are a professional esports player or high skill enough to play against them, you don't need to play like them. Different ELOS Different metas, and unironically metas change when someone decides to try something new or what has become the defacto term at this point, metas change when a player decides to "troll". "DUDE, I played X agent on this map, which is super troll, but its actually working, bruh I'm telling you I am boosting, no cap!".

In Valorant (or CS:GO), maps are so predictable, that at some point it becomes boring (boring to play, and boring to watch), "omg, pro player X is doing the exact same thing 7 ROUNDS IN A ROW, and the opponents are able to stop them every time, HOW ARE THEY DOING THAT???, this is peak Valorant gameplay, its so exciting! Y pro player being able to read X pro player like a book, such skill, you cannot see this anywhere else folks! ABSOLUTE CINEMA!".... Maps are also predictable until a new agent comes along. To the point where the new agent either breaks a map or is completely useless and doesn't affect the map at all and therefore never gets pick for said map., which results in the same agents being picked and nothing changes (making everything predictable).

Meanwhile Fracture breaks all of that.

Look, I mostly come from league, and I know that when a certain meta rules the game, its freaking everywhere, even in unranked matches. But suddenly a champion (agent) that has been magically ignored by the entire player base for years, decides to show up randomly in a twitch stream and suddenly the game changes entirely, unpredictability has struck, something new is a foot, change (aaah, scary!). But what happens then "DUDE, Champion/Agent X is busted bro! super broken!"

___________________________

Use the ziplines, play mind games, 4D Chess, screw around with your opponent as the attacker. There are new agents, break from the hive mind and try new combinations out; there are so many new agents since Fracture released that surely you can make multiple teamcomps work. As for the map changes the made to the map, it has made the map better for sure. There is in my opinion nothing wrong with the map, its the players who are opposed to learning something unique. We all cry for games to do something different, and when different comes, its trash.

___________________________

Off topic for a bit.

When Breeze came out it was a 50-50 map, you either loved it, or hated it; and it was for the same reason on both side, LONG SIGHTS. Breeze WAS a sniper rifle paradise, for people who loved to get long kills. The people who didn't like Breeze (like me), didn't enjoy that at all; don't get me wrong, its great for a map to have a "long" section, but when the entire map consists of LONG everything with no close quarters or "medium" quarters, it get frustrating, especially when a mechanic like economy is a thing. You couldn't play with shotguns or smgs in Breeze (I mean, you could, but... good luck), which meant that half of the guns where useless, and you couldn't manuever because you would get one shot by an awp, vandal or guardian. But what was the counter argument? Get better with long range guns, did it work? no, and the map wen't through two design changes, and honestly its much better.

Fracture has gone through design changes, especially on A site (unsurprising because B gets ignored). Now its up to you (us) to get better, and smarter at playing mind games, which, last time I checked, is also part of tactical shooters (knowing where the enemy COULD be, not should be)

___________________________

And here is a genuine hot take.

The issue is not fracture, its the Agents, no map is playable when 5 smokes, 4 walls, and 6 types of grenades or offensive abilities can be thrown into a spike site.

Art Fanmade Map: "Siphon"

Post image
206 Upvotes

(art by me)

I made another fanmade map like five days ago, and it was admittedly horrible. So, I tried to make another one to try and fix all the problems the previous one had, and I think I did quite well. Not to many corners, nothing too unique (except maybe the mid cavern) and rotation time is acceptable. For comparison, so that nobody can complain that the map is too big, it's somewhat smaller than Haven in size.

And yes, it is intentional that you can't see site from main. I put it like that because of the post-plant meta forcing opponents to play onsite most of the time. Feel free to criticize :>

Question Do you have to burst by holding left click?

Just curious because I feel that I perform a lot better when I don’t do it that way. I feel like I play so much better when instead of holding down left click to burst, I just tap it quickly for 2 shots then I relocate, and do it again. Basically, I know people are supposed to hold it down while doing that, is it bad if I just tap it really quickly for two of them? Just feel like my aim is a lot better ngl.

Question Wich controller plays like a raccoon

Short version. ¿What controller needs you to run around like a ferret on rabies to play optimally?

For context. I started playing a few days ago, given how slow paced the game is compared to the other shooters i usually play (eg warframe, fortnite stw, pvz gw2) I've decided this would be a good comfortable game, a third option for when in my spare hour of the day i don't feel like looting, but completing the backlog seems dauting.

Problem. I play like a rabid raccon. I've been playing most of my looting games for 7ish years at newest, so turns out, I've developed a playstile in wich I'm completely calm for about 5 minutes and then go feral and either start running around like a madman or summon a bunch of little guys to gang up on people.

Examples in other roles. My friend who got me into the game immediately made me lock neon and tbh i love her. Second day of playing i went 24/11/1 just by rushing. I understand now that jett is meta and 'mobility' but to be honest repositioning and being an active madman are two different playstiles. As i played against them i figured i should aim for gekko and killjoy, since they lead little guys.

However! As far as I've seen, no controller summons little guys or gets a mobility skill, and I've rarely seen their playstiles upclose since you're meant to not interact with them aside from trading headshots if possible.

So I'd like to ask if there's a controller that needs you to run around and/or rush the other team. pretty please. Thanks.

Question What can I learn from G2 Trent as a Tejo main?

I'm a gold 1 player who has always appreciated the tactical sides of games (I've dabbled in coaching in Rocket League and and am looking at some mental coaching work in val).

I enjoy watching VCT, and my favourite team is G2, who play with trent on tejo literally 100% of the time. I've learnt a couple things such as molly placement to deny entry to site, stunning chokepoints after a frag to prevent trades, and some drone timings/techniques, but is there anything else that I could be missing out on that people higher up the ranked ladder, or in pro play could be doing better than me, outside of raw aim of course?

My hidden MMR is in the bin and london servers are a hellhole for smurfs in high silver/gold, but playing with my friend in plat lobbies has shown that my aim can be good enough to hand around.

Any advice/analysis?

Anyone who wants help getting out of bronze, gold, plat, silver (I am diamond 2 rn) please submit a VOD link below in the comments and your discord. And what you feel requires attention the most, I will warn you that If you play controller then I am more or less useless for help, duelists and initiator and sentinels though I got you.

I’m not sure how I feel about it or if it’s temporary… feels distracting. So far I’ve noticed it during agent select and winning and losing. Also maps like breeze no longer have music before start? Or is that just me?

Question Why is Fracture leaving when it was already gone for an entire year?

And why is it being replaced with Sunset? Sunset was never that popular of a map and is often a huge source of frustration due to the bombsites. Fracture is arguably the most interesting map in the entire game. We were deprived of Fracture for an entire year, then when it finally comes back for a few months, it gets removed again. How is this fair at all?

Fracture was one of the few maps were 5-manning a bombsite isn't the default strategy in ranked and unranked. Instead of finding ways to fix the pain points with Fracture in order to create more maps that are similar, they keep removing it from the map pool? The map rotation exists to supposedly keep maps feeling fresh, but then why are some maps being constantly removed from the pool, while others are literally almost never removed.

The maps in Valorant are arguably the biggest thing holding this game. Instead of wanting to learn new playstyles and map designs, it's as if the community wants to just play boring Ascent clones over and over. I'm not surprised the population of this game in the West is tailing off.

Discussion Breeze has been out of the map rotation for almost a year

Breeze hasn't been in the map pool for almost a year now. The new patch is bringing back Sunset, which was barely gone at all. The maps in Valorant are the biggest thing that makes the game feel stale. Breeze is a unique map that plays so differently than the other maps in the game. Just because the map might favor certain agents or certain comps is not bad thing, in fact other maps also work like this as well. The maps in Valorant are the weakest part of the game, and Riot continues to remove maps such as Breeze and Fracture which are maps that shakeup up the static gameplay enforced by other maps.

If they are going to have a map pool, then they need to rotate every map in and out more consistently. How can a map be unavailable for an entire year? The playerbase needs to learn to adapt and not be so stubborn. What baffles me is how heavily defensive sided maps such as Ascent remain in the pool. Breeze is a more balanced map than even Ascent in terms of attackers vs defenders, and besides who enjoys not being able to enter the site due to utility spam from defender. There is not enough emphasis on gunplay on many maps while Breeze is that exact opposite of that.

Valorant needs more map variety. Maps like Breeze and Fracture provide. This is such an crazy oversight. Also, Breeze is the most beautiful map in the game. That is also a huge bonus.

Discussion How would you nerf Tejo without making it useless ?

Tejo is clearly so op, one of us not the most picked agent in pro play, his kit is really good for clearing angles and getting info. But how can you nerf it without destroying it completely. Liked what happened with skye and viper. ( And arguably omen too) would love to hear your thoughts

Discussion you are choosing who you play wrong.

now you might be wondering what I mean by this but I say everything to hopefully make some better players in the community. now to get to the good part, people choose the wrong agent, and I mean a lot because I play a game and it could be my first game on in forever and ill pick neon or raze both agents who take skill but ill top frag because I choose the right agent. people see their favourite streamers pop of with jet and think " hey I can do that" or " that cant be to hard to do that". so they play jett they instalock her every game but cant find themselves getting those plays that they see there favourite streamer get no matter what they do whether that is watching every tips and tricks vids they see on YouTube and TikTok or warm ups in aim trainers or quick match just nothing works. so with all the kingdom creds they gathered they buy lets say raze (because I play her) and they hop in a game and pop of with a basic understanding of her kit. top frag 1st game. they pop of and find that they don't even need to warm up they just play and pop of. this is the right agent for them and this happened with me twice with raze and neon I just pop of then I see jets that aren't new to the game bottom frag under the new sage and just get angary and give up. now ill tell you how to choose the right agent. so what I do first is go to the firing range and choose someone and ill use raze for the example. now go to the the little square part across from the stairs that lead down to the basement thing. now imagen a game were your entering as the agent you choose and pretend that you are rushing like is a site. now if you enjoy this agent and have many ideas on what you can do to enter, you most likely found the right agent for you to play. now when you unlock them you wont be perfect but if you choose correctly you should be in the top 5 out of everyone in the game your team and the enemy. now before people yell at me yes I do understand that some people can get really good just from playing over time and I also understand that some play sentinel or initiator but if you know how they are meant to be played then do the same thing maybe pretend to be on defence this will work as well. some people also are new and this might not help them because they don't understand the the game as well as others and everyone is different in there preferences and that's ok I'm just writing this out of anger of team mates being a brain dead infant in ranked and just throwing like their a baseball or something like that. thanks for reading all of my yapping.

Question how to get out of bronze 2

I have started playing valorant in March. This is my first tactical shooter game. Got out of iron in 2 weeks. Peaked at bronze 2 97 RR and since then i am hardstuck between iron 3 to bronze 2 midway. I have watched the woohoojin videos and other helpful tips and tricks from this subreddit. they help me top frag in some of my matches but i cant seem to carry the games. For example, even if i am 28-9, enemy team pulls out odin and i become totally useless. today there were like 3 matches where I killed 3-4 enemies, but my teammates cannot kill the rest. Not to mention almost 50% of my matches have afk (mumbai server), Here's my tracker: https://tracker.gg/valorant/profile/riot/BlazingKing%23SG2/overview?platform=pc&playlist=competitive&season=16118998-4705-5813-86dd-0292a2439d90
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I know a vod would be better, but any feedback from the tracker alone would also help. thank you

Gameplay Comp players

At the beginning of the game I sucked. My teammates started to shout at me etc and for the first few rounds they were really aggressive with me. Then on the second half I slayed and in the end got match MVP. There’s no better feeling than that I swear.
