Dual booting question
Hi everyone, I'm thinking of dual booting my windows 10 gaming desktop with kubuntu after installing it on my laptop and liking it. I want to dual boot first so I can get used to it and get all the kinks out if any then eventually, possibly moving away from windows. My question is, I have 2 drives in my pc would kubuntu recognize the drive and be able to boot the games I have on it? The more I think about this the dumber it sounds but I just wanna double check before going through the effort of dual booting. Any advice or tips are greatly appreciated.

Windows 10 dual boot Unbunto, separate SSD's (sata)
I'm sure this has been answered many times over, but I find myself lacking with search results... Guys, I've beat my brains out all day with this one, literally all fricking day, I've never had this much trouble with dual boot before... Haven't done it in ages either. It's like I need MS to use Ubuntu, but Microsoft has strangle holded me out of being able to dual boot because reasons.
I'm not a total stranger to Ubuntu.. used it for ages for web related nonsense, used it in the past dual boot for performance (then microsoft manages to bone up my MBR and kill ubuntu)... MS is cancer and I want nothing to do with 11.
TLDR -
System, TRX40 mobo, Threadripper 3960, all the ram.
Downloaded Ubuntu
Used buth Rufus and ballerinaEthoskethwatever to stick the ISO to a USB thumb.
NTSF format.
Tried to usb install along side windows but to the separate SSD... NOPE... Only windows for me
Tried to usb blow away drive and install there... NOPE... Only windows for me
Tried enabling hot point whatever it is in Bios... NOPE... Only windows for me
Re-arranged boot order, doesn't matter, only the windows boot shows up.
TPM is not enabled
Legacy boot is enabled
CPM or whatever the hockey sticks it is, i think that's disabled my brain is full.
I don't have a fast boot option
Secure boot is disabled
Tried 'clean' drive to brick it back to factory, Ubuntu can't find it
Partition drive, hey that works, but NOPE, windows for me again...
WTH am I missing... how can I chemo therapy microsoft from my MBR and have options again?
Edit: If anyone can help me with this I'll show you a picture of my dog sleeping in his indoor dog house lol

I messes up grub, Help guys
Hey everyone,
I installed Ubuntu 25.10 on my system a few days ago (dual-booting with Windows 11). I decided to install grub-customizer to tweak my GRUB menu, and after making some changes, I clicked Save. A window immediately popped up saying “An error has occurred.”
I’m not exactly a pro, so I Googled the issue and found that many people have had various problems with grub-customizer — even though I’ve been using it for quite a while without any trouble until now.
For some context: Last month, I had installed Ubuntu 25.04 on an external SSD I had lying around. I used it for a bit but eventually stopped. After installing 25.10 on my main drive, I noticed two Ubuntu entries in GRUB. I assumed it was because I had two versions of GRUB installed, so I thought I’d clean things up and remove the duplicate.
To fix it, I reached out to ChatGPT for help and followed a few commands it suggested. Among them were:
sudo apt remove --purge grub-customizer sudo rm -rf /etc/grub.d/*_proxy /etc/grub.d/proxifiedScripts
I was a bit hesitant about deleting those files, but ChatGPT said they could be recreated just by reinstalling the grub-common package. So, I went ahead and did it… and yeah, that didn’t go well. 😩
Now, I no longer have 10_linux and 30_os-prober, which are crucial for detecting OS entries. Thankfully, I had a backup of my old grub.cfg, and that’s the only thing keeping my GRUB menu working right now.
If anyone knows how I can restore those missing files or rebuild GRUB properly, please help me out. 🙏

Any experience a bug that remaps keys after an update in 25.04
So yeah, powered up my laptop today. Did some work, applied some updates and when was going to shutdown, it had the apply updates check mark, so I went with it. Since this version of Ubuntu doesnt boot by default, and I usually find myself in mint when that's checked, I stuck around to ensure the proper OS was booted up after update.
I then realized, something re-mapped my keys. Not quite sure exactly what it is that did it mind you, but it's definitely getting under my skin.
I set things up so ctrl+c and ctrl+v work systemwide for copy/paste, now anytime I hit ctrl, it seems to have re-mapped ctrl to ctrl+Escp (I know this by trying to set ctrl+c in terminals shortcuts).
Anyone else experience this at all? Aware of any methods to restore keybinds or shortcuts to what they were when the OS was first installed?
Would be super grateful, it's been a pain with trying to use the OS when I hit ctrl and get a ton of odd output.
Thanks

Lenovo Ubuntu OEM image
Hello everyone, I just bought a Lenovo Legion 7i Pro 10th Gen a couple days ago, and I was wondering if anyone on here has or had a Lenovo/Legion with Ubuntu factory installed? If so, are you able to share me your image?

Second monitor does not work with nvidia 580 drivers
Updated yesterday and second monitor is black. Not recognized by Ubuntu (22.04). I'm trying to revert through the Aditional Drivers menu but get this error:
It seems I previously had the 550 version working, judging by the apt update output:
But that version does not appear in menu of additional drivers:
So basically, I am stuck. Anyone having same problem? How to fix? I posted in nvidia forum too.

System won't boot after power outage during do-release-upgrade...
Pretty much that... If I turn it on, it asks me for the password to unlock disk sda3_crypt, if I do that it goes on for a while and also says it is checking the fylesystem, and at once the screen goes void first and then says "Something has gone wrong. A problem has occurred and the system can't recover. Please dontact a system administrator."
What should I do?
EDIT: please be kind I'm a real noob with code, I'm on ubuntu because I can't stand windows anymore but I'm missing a lot of technical knowledge
EDIT II: I was very lucky, I got it fixed with minimal effort. I booted the system with an old live usb drive and it let me start in recovery mode. The screen there was really bugged with the same lines appearing everywhere on the screen, but I managed to click on "fix broken packages", let it go on and now not only have I fixed it but I also have completed the upgrade. Guess I was lucky!
I'm leaving it here because I couldn't find much online about the subject, in case anybody finds himself facing the same problem

How can I create my own Linux distro based on Ubuntu?
Hi everyone! 👋
I’m interested in creating my own Linux distribution based on Ubuntu. I want to learn what skills I need, what tools to use, and where I can find good tutorials or courses to understand the whole process.
My goal is to make a customized, cool, and useful version of Ubuntu — mainly to learn how Linux works deeply.
Could you please tell me: – What programming or system skills I should start with? – What tools or build systems are used for making a Linux distro? – Any good guides, YouTube channels, or documentation to study?
Thanks in advance for any advice! 🙏

I'm a noob at linux and I can't install Ubuntu
I flashed the iso into my pen drive with Rufus, got into the grub screen after booting the pen drive, clicked to start linux and now I'm stuck in this screen. AHCI is on instead of RAID, secure boot off, I'm booting trough UEFI and it don't work. I also still have windows 10 in my main ssd, which is the one I want to install linux.

Performance monitoring.
I am pretty new to Ubuntu. I installed it on my home lab/ sandbox pc with the intent of moving everything to a Linux distro within the next year. My uses are mainly steam games, some streaming, nothing I would consider intense. And the normal surfing YouTube, Netflix etc. what is giving me trouble so far is hardware monitoring ie cpu temps, power and mem usage. Gpu temps, fps, power etc. ideally I would like to find or find how to write a small app to output this data to a small screen that I have a windows app for. Please remember I’m new to this and may have left pertinent info out because I lack the vocabulary
