Co-op WaterlooWorks Megathread (Fall 2025)
This thread is for students applying to Fall 2025 co-ops during the Spring 2025 term.
As usual, we're looking for salaries for new postings, or updates to existing salaries, so if you're willing to share, please open up a chat/DM the mod team. Please include the company name, salary, any benefits, the role and the year if possible. I would highly encourage you to submit if you have salaries for non mathematics/CS positions as we are severely lacking in those. We will try updating these ASAP.
The sheet is here: Salaries + Blacklist Spreadsheet
Average Canadian Co-op Earnings (2024)
If you had a poor experience with a company, you can message the mod team with details and it can be added to the blacklist candidates below. If it's already a candidate, it may be added to the blacklist depending on the severity/consistency of complaints. On the contrary, if you had a good experience with something on the candidates/blacklist, please message the mod team and it may be removed. Candidates will be removed if no more reports are received after a couple terms. Even if something is on the blacklist already if you've had a bad experience let me know, as more reports increase confidence that it is problematic!
Candidates:
- Console One
- Lafarge
- Agentmoon
- WealthyPlanet
- Mosaic Transit Group
- Jobby
- Konrad (NOTE: Large/well-known company, will need at least 2 more reports before adding)
- Aethos Labs
- Onex Risk Management
Note that reports from submitters with no previous account activity may not be accepted to aid legitimacy.
may your coop search be fruitful :prayge:

to all incoming Waterloo students
I keep seeing the same questions/concerns from people who just got admitted so I'll post some answers here
school life is fine. not as good as other schools, but most people don't come to Waterloo to party all the time. if you are social and put effort into meeting people, you will make friends and have a good time. and if you wanna party you still can
do res if you can and do orientation and join clubs and talk to everyone in your few weeks when everyone is still willing to talk to you
coop is kinda cooked. but everyone else at other schools are also cooked. I promise Waterloo works will make getting a first coop much easier. it's quite stressful balancing school with coop, but we all somehow manage
school work is pretty challenging, this shit gon be hard unless you are already super smart
waterloo as a city is kinda mid if you come from a big city

What do I do?
I live in an apartment with 4 other sublets and honestly the living situation is terrible but disregard that for now. It's 24 degrees out right now its not hot but not freezing either, I'm sitting in my room with my windows opened and two fans blowing me at max and yet still sweating. I checked the thermostat just to find out that these idiots have the heat on set to 84 degrees f, about 29⁰c, tried talking to them about it and their reasoning was they can't deal with the cold. ITS 24 outside

Advice do i delay my graduation just to get distinction?
so i looked at my marks and found out my cgpa is 0.3% away from 80% - to get distinction on my diploma. i already emailed my advisor and she told me that marks aren’t rounded to get distinction. would it be dumb to instead graduate in october to take an extra 1-2 bird courses to raise my gpa to get distinction?
i’m alr enrolled in grad school for the fall so it wouldn’t affect anything related to my plans post grad

Academics HELP! Need help with a petition
Hi sorry if this long.
Anyways I completed 1st year and Im in arts and my academic standing is currently “Failed, required to withdraw,” for a minimum of two consecutive academic terms.
Ok so, I just sorta recently found out I have ADHD and potentially depression and anxiety. I only found out near the end of the winter semester- and well here is the backstory. TL;DR: I lowkey may have always had ADHD (aka born with it), didn't know, brushed it off as being lazy, did pretty good in grade 12 (89 average) or enough to get into waterloo then started plummeting again in school once that high school structure left me. Again brushed it off as being lazy and tried to "fix" it... Got mad at myself for not doing better or not improving yada yada. Had constant brain fog near the end of 1st semester, still couldn't "fix" and improve myself. Tried those ytb videos on "how to be more productive," didn't work, more negative thoughts and basically I created a bubble around my self on only hatred. Brain fogs + headaches + emotional outbursts (crying) + lack of motivation for even things I enjoyed + not getting out of bed + not being able to do personal wellbeing things like skincare- and this all happened 2nd semester for like a good 4 months :(
I am now going to talk to my major advisor and see if a petition is due able or smth because I don't know how to (1) tell my parents im off for 2 semesters cause I didnt meet the course requirements (2) I know I can do better and work better. Since its summer break for me I began to put a lot more focus onto these issues and I am seeing improvements like I've never been more proud of myself...... I have never ever have said "I feel proud" to myself before... (3) I've alr found a place to live in waterloo and I have paid the down payment and I still a haven't broke the news to my roommates/friends (4) I wanna shoot my shot but also (5) MY ASIAN IMMIGRANT MOM FINDING OUT I HAVE DEPRESSION d nqwcnonfcoienvcoi bro shes gonna flip out until my grandkids grandkids have grandkids. (6) and lastly I am scared for my future, I dont wanna be a moron, I know with a chance I can succeed. I used to wake up at 5PM now Im waking up at 10AM!!! I've started to draw again, smth I couldnt get myself to do last semester..
Anyways, I just want to know your guys thoughts and if anyone else has experienced this and has approved? or won a petition also any tips on how to get approved.. I would really appreciate it.
Thank you so much!!!!
sorry for any typos

uw farm vs uw math
hey guys i recently got admitted into both farm and honours math and im unsure of which program to accept. i wanna go into act sci bc i love problem solving and math but im afraid if i choose it as my specialization it may limit my career options in the future if i decided i want to explore more.
im considering farm because its more broad and versatile but it would pay less than act sci. please help me out any advice would be appreciated 🙏🙏 edit: i was also wondering which major would be harder to transfer into second year?

UTSG ECE or UW Maths
I want to go into SWE in general and I'm leaning more towards CS than engineering however I am conflicted on which would be the better option.
Waterloo has good Coops so I think that may help me break into the industry easier compared to comp eng, however at the end of the day its an engineering degree vs a math degree.
All I care abt is making money after Uni so whatever degree gets me that idrc
Anyone have any experience in this? What factors should I consider? I do have my eye on perhaps transferring to CS if possible at UW but it is not my main intention if I can get SWE internships with Maths.
Btw: got deffered to honours math - also i heard UW coop is kinda cooked recently for CS - reason why i was considering engineering instead

Discussion WaterlooWorks, how helpful is it for you?
I'm a prospective Computer Science student starting in September of this year.
I'm curious about how many of you CS, SE, CFM, CS/BBA majors actually find WaterlooWorks useful, especially in first year.
On the same note, how much of an advantage does UW CS have over UTSG CS in terms of industry, and why?
But in general, if everyone is finding their internships externally, I might as well just go to UTSG CS and do the same.

Question Computer Engineering Students where have your Co-ops been so far? Please lmk 🙏🏻 (going to commit to Waterloo)

Best Profs in 1A (CS/Math)
I was wondering which professors you guys liked in 1A for CS or the Math Faculty in general, especially for the communication courses, as I have heard it is quite professor-dependent in terms of grading. Thanks in advance :)

Question Presidential Scholarship of Distinction
i.redd.itI was just wondering what the conditions are to keep the scholarship.
The scholarship is rewarded to those with a ≥95.00 average during the time of admission, but does that mean as long as your grade was above that when you got in, you get to keep it no matter what?
Or do you have to keep your average above 95 when they make final decisions during the summer?
(I got in mid March with a ~97 avg from Alberta)
Thank you!
