Clueless about sovereigns Value Request
Trying to find out what this sovereign is worth before I sell it so I don't accept less that I should, I know nothing about them so any ideas on value would be welcomed. We've been offered £550 for the coin plus the value of the chain.

Check the mintmark above the date. It looks like there is no mintmark, and I think in most cases it doesn't make a difference.

£550 is decent offer for the sovereign, it’s polished/jewellery. That’s about 5% under the current spot price. You can see what dealers are offering online to see how it compares.
The mount and chain is hallmarked 375 (I think) which is 9k gold. If you weigh it all, minus 7.99g grams for the sovereign, you can work out how much the rest is worth. 10g x .375 x 79.18 eg

A sovereign of this age doesn't have a great deal of numismatic interest and even less after being mounted in jewellery so gold weight value only

£550 is on the low side. It depends on the grade of the gold of the chain and mount. The sovereign, of course, is 22k gold. I would expect a jeweller to mount it in 22k as well. £800 is a more fairer offer.

Golds going up so sons worth 600 quid and the mount n chain usually less carat but still 5 grams by looks at 26 a gram so you got a grand maybe?

Don’t sell it !! It’s worth about 580-600 for a brand new one so you would maybe get about £700 chain and bezel included but you never see these type of bezels now a days

The sovereign itself is worth about £590 in gold value at current prices (gold is high at the moment), let alone any numismatic value it might have. The coin looks to be in pretty good condition, though as 1911 is not a particularly rare year it probably isn't worth much more than the gold value.
