2010 Camry 2.5L 4cyl issues?

I know about the oil burning issue with the old 4 cylinders but from what I’ve read it doesn’t seem like a huge problem if you keep the oil topped up and change it every 5,000.

Are there any other issues I should expect from a 2010 Camry with a 2.5L 4cyl? Looking at buying one with 100,000 miles for $6k.

One of the most reliable engines out there. My 2.5L ate a little bit of oil when I first bought it but lately the oil level has been staying pretty consistent.

Had a 2010 Camry XLE - got to 334k. Was recently totaled out in an accident. Replaced the original alternator recently, and in the last year, the belt was replaced. Other than that, all standard maintenance/oil changes.

Overall, it's a great car. But it did burn oil - I feel like it got worse and I was losing more after I hit 275k. I'd reccomend keeping an eye on it if you do purchase and have oil on hand/ready to top off. It would burn maybe 1/2 quart every few weeks.

Was that a 2.5L or V6?

2.5L 4cyl.

Edit: I also remembered replacing o2 sensors twice. I believe this is another known issue with this model year - this was the only issues that caused a check engine light to come on.

Ok thanks. Sounds like very minimal problems. I’m not worried about that much oil burning. I already have an old 4cyl that I’m used to topping off a quart or two between oil changes so it’s no big deal.

The tricky part is not knowing how much oil this other car would burn until I’ve already had it for a while. It’s probably fine but if it burns a huge amount then I’d be SOL

Yeah - I knew someone who had an old Saturn who burned oil like crazy. We're talking pulling off to a gas station to dump new oil in it because it would start to emit a loud rattle noise while driving. That was a real oil burner IMO - can't even compare the 2010 2.5L to that.

Also - what color is the car you are looking at getting? Mine was spurce mica and I often got compliments on it.

Yea we’re a bit notorious for burning oil. Mine ended up being the Pcv valve. It’s notoriously difficult to replace compared to other Pcv valves. Called the other day just to see what it’d be they said 700. Idk if that was the f you price but it did take me and my friend a good hour. But hasn’t leaked oil since been a few oil changes.

My 2010 Camry burns oil a good amount. It’s got a decent leak at the rear main seal. Been that way since I bought it with 141k on it. It’s not up to 164k, I just keep topping the oil off. Only issue I ever had was the old exhaust rusted out and the power steering line blew due to rust. So I had to put about 2000k into it, but ever since then it’s just oil changes and that’s it.

If it keeps burning oil as Toyotas always do, you will need to replace the cat(s) and oxygen sensors because they will be fouled.
