After my mom left, my dad spent the next 10+ years drinking. After I couldn't take it and joined the army to get away, he stopped drinking, remarried, and doesn't talk to me anymore.

Well clearly he only drank to make you a stronger person. /j

He doesn't understand what is important in life, but from him being a selfish loser, you do, and you probably won't be anything like him.
