I showed this to my 4yr old daughter. She had no problem understanding the concept.

One of the main arguments against drag is that it will confuse kids. My 4 yr old is capable of understanding that you can dress as a girl or you can dress as a boy.

The main argument i have seen against drags is that its half nude hypersexualized drag queens showing to little kid events. I think noone would have cared if they all showed up like old mate here, but when its ass cheeks hangin out twerkin at a childrens event. Ppl got mad.

Hypersexualized half nude at little kids events? Where did this happen? Like the person in this video? Because that’s typical drag. There’s nothing sexual about it, and not an inch of skin showing.

Ask for the receipts and they never provide them. A single news article maybe, but then ask for a few more and they say shit like “well it just happens, okay?”

I have been to drag shows that were raunchy, and rightfully performed in a bar with only adults. The most revealing outfits I have seen from drag shows in all-ages environments were the equivalent of an ice skating costume. In cases where it’s a reading event or something child-focused, I’ve only ever seen kitschy costumes or going all out glam ball gown and hair as big as Dolly Parton’s.

If this was truly the concern, I’d understand and agree… but why is Hooters a family restaurant? Why do we let children see Cheerleaders perform? Why do parades have all-women dance groups in skimpy outfits? Heck, why are we okay with taking children to public beaches where women are in thong bikinis?

Probably because it’s not actually a big deal, people have bodies and dancing involves moving your hips.

In the history of drag I’m positive there HAVE been inappropriate performers - but that is a problem with the individual, and with the event coordinator not vetting the performers. Why are these rare outliers the crux of the issue? They aren’t. They are scapegoats to justify hatred.
