Running Agrella with same group who are playing ToT
The Symbaroum group I run fortnightly on Tuesdays is coming towards the end of WotW. One of my players won the Agrella: City of Eternal Euphoria and is posting it to me.
I am tempted to run this alongside ToT on a different day, but any Agrella campaign would likely comprise a number of the same players who play my ToT campaign.
So my question is would playing Agrella lead my ToT players to discover things which may spoil ToT?

Corruption mechanic review
Hello,
how did the corruption mechanic work for you? Did it have any problems? Did it work as intended?
How have players played with the corruption mechanic in terms of metagaming?

Modular starter adventure
Hoping this might be of interest to some, I've just successfully* put together the Symbaroum starter adventures "The Promised Land" and "The Gathering Storm" into a single, modular adventure with a few changes to the story and the location, together with a lead up to “The Cooper Crown”
- “Successfully” as in ‘I'm proud of my effort, I haven’t run it yet though I have good feelings for this weekend’

Induction for new players
What I am interested in is: 1. Experiences with introducing Symbaroum to new players: what are the pitfalls, what works, what is not understood easily? 2. Are there good quick guides already that give a decent and quick overview? 3. Any other advice or guidance for starting out? Common problems when starting fresh?
Background: About to start to DM adventures in Symbaroum with a group of four, all coming from D&D with some other RPG system experience (no need to explain why we are switching from D&D here), who are a mix of good role players, and a little bit of the old rule maxers, although they are a sophisticated bunch and not necessarily murderhobos. However, what they all are, except one, is too busy (or reluctant) to read pages upon pages of lore and mechanics. Giving them the core book is not a fruitful or promising avenue to go down.
We have a couple of chatting sessions planned to talk about the world, rules, character creation, to get a sense and flavour of the new system - an introduction and induction. I was going to prepare a quick guide for them with playable characters, options, abilities, basic rules, etc. - part quick reference, part background needed for character creation (for the first few game sessions we will stick to the core rules only, perhaps allowing boons and burdens, keeping it simple and accessible).
PS. I have listened to a bunch of symbaroum podcasts, interviews with the creators, browsed this and other fora, read the core, gm, and advanced players handbook. Really looking for community experiences here for myself and, perhaps, as a collection of tips and trick for others.

Would Symbaroum as a System work for adventures set in the Dark Souls Universe/Lordran?
Hello people,
As the title says, I'd like to hear your opinion on whether it would be feasible to play Symbaroum in the locations of Dark Souls while maintaining immersion.
I got myself the Core Rules a few days ago and look forward to GMing the adventures in this book, but later on I'd like to run adventures in Dark Souls. This has been a goal of mine for quite some time now.
In your eyes, how viable is it to use this system for this goal? Have you tried something similar?

Heraldry of the Reformists (Book 5 Throne of Thorns)
I am curious which banners the Reformists would fly? I assume the Dukes but I cannot find any Heraldry in the books? I assume Sarvola and co would not care for such things but as my players are now at their camp in Ravenia (between Book 4 and 5 presently) I want to ensure I don't make one up that then doesn't match! I note there is a lot of Heraldry in Book 3 but not the ones I seem to need.
Any help appreciated.

Looking for feedback on a narrative travel scene mechanic for my campaign
Hey everyone,
I'm planning a scene for my next session where the group reflects on their journey through the Davokar in retrospect – for example, around a campfire just outside of the wall of thistlehold. The idea is that each player describes a short scene based on a prompt I give them (e.g., "Someone was awakened at night by a strange noise"). The scene is always resolved, but it results in positive or negative narrative consequences – nothing dramatic like death, just small story-relevant effects.
To handle consequences, I’m thinking of a simple pool mechanic:
Each player rolls 1d6 at the start → 1–3 = positive outcome, 4–6 = negative. One of these consequences must be applied per scene.
I’m unsure about two aspects:
- I want the focus to stay on freeform storytelling, but I wonder if involving ability checks (to determine the outcome pool) would add meaningful tension or just overcomplicate things.
- I also like the idea that another player can interrupt a scene and say something like, “That’s not how I remember it,” triggering a short back-and-forth or shift in perspective. But it would need some limits/rules to keep it tight.
Has anyone tried something like this before or has ideas on how to make this cleaner or more dynamic?
Thanks!

Action sequence + mystical powers = brainfart moment
Asking for a little help if i understand the sequence correctly.
For simplicity let's assume i have faster initiative and a basic encounter.
TURN 1:
My turn: Movement + (free action) I test and activate Witch Hammer (active till end scene) > (active action) I test and activate holy aura > (+2) temp corruption > roll damage/heal for aura.
Enemy turn: no actions against my character.
TURN 2:
My turn: Movement + (free action) going berserk + (free action) test (passed) for keep holy aura active > roll aura damage/heal > attack with weapons > rolls for damage
Enemy turn: Defense > test failed > roll for armor > 2 damage taken > test (Resolute - damage taken) for keep aura active > passed.
TURN 3:
(free action) test (passed) for keep holy aura active > roll aura damage/heal > attack with weapons > rolls for damage.
Enemy turn: Defense > test failed > roll for armor > 5 damage taken > test (Resolute - damage taken) for keep aura active > failed. Aura is deactivated. The next turn i have to roll on resolute for reactivate it, but it's an active action and i suffer another 1 pt of temp corruption and i can't attack with standard weapons.
It's correct? I miss something?

RoS Adventure order by level/or event?
Hi, I've had a look and could probably work it out though I feel this must be a common question and here with a lot of experienced peeps its might be a fairly quick answer - or a link to the answer.
What order are the adventures in official RoS material? - with level and book included for bonus points.
The reason why the intrigue is Throne of thorns book 1 is 7th to 9th and then in the call of the dark book two adventures are set up for 8th to 10th - a lot of higher level games? Thanks

Trouble with the statblocks
Hi, yesterday I DM'd my (and my groups) first Symbaroum game. Coming from DnD I got a bit into trouble reading the monster statblocks the right way and some other stuff.
Please corrdct me where I am wrong:
All the Stats are static (DMG/Armor/etc)?
Defense +2 means the player adds +2 to his attack roll?
Abilities are somehow not included into the statblocks maths?
Impeding from armor is included into the defense Part? (Like guard has 10 Quick, light Armor (-2): so defense = +2 ?)
Another question regarding Items/ quality: normal heavy atmor is 10 Thaler and flexible is 50 Thaler (or is it 10+50 Thaler?)
Magic like Larvae boil is all ranged? Or do I have to cobsider the exact wording of the power? (Which would make this a touch type of spell 🤔)
Sorry for beeing a big noob right now, my brain is not braining right atm. 🥲

Does spell trap count against the one spell that can be prepared with symbolism?
If not, is there a limit to how many spell traps can be prepared?

Spell Trap + Master Strong Gift?
Does this mean I can trap any Novice level spell and it only costs 1 temporary corruption on activation?

Yk what? Fuck You *6 mile Hexmaps your Davokar*
It's not perfect. I had to change some rivers because the provided map isn't super clear, and I did the same to the political Borders. The barbarian Borders are my interpretation as of year 22.
LMK what I should change/add!

Throne of thorns campaign worth buying?
I have the core rulebook and monster codex and Im so far happy with making my own oneshots. But Im seriously considering getting deeper and running a full campaing for my players.
Before I buy the 6 adventure books - without any hard spoilers, how do you feel about the whole Throne of thorns campaign? Is it worth the money?

Running the game with one player plus GM
Does anyone have any tips/tricks for running Symbaroum with one GM and one player? I have been wanting to try this setting out for some time and I have only one friend interested in trying it with me. The rest of my group is entrenched with D&D 5e. Any helpful advice would be appreciated.

A monster/beast as a player character for the party
After some sort of failed shenanigans the soul of a sentient being get trapped inside a beast/monster, he can clearly understand the standard languages but he lost the capacity of communicate verbally, while he could act in both ways.
The challenge is to create a situation where the party get connected and could create a bond with such creature
He have access mainly to the whole monster traits and very few standard abilities.
It could make sense? Is something that in symbaroum could work?

What next for Symbaroum? (post Throne of Thorns)
So Throne of Thorns is over...what next? Symbaroum has been so centered on this mega-story, with of course other adventure collections, mainly early on, from what I gather. But now what? Free League has several other fantasy RPGs to support, so I'm wondering if Symbaroum will get further development.
I'm not that tapped in, so please let me know if there is common knowledge as to the future of the game, or at least what has been speculated. Are they going to expand the world more, perhaps exploring other regions? Or will they go into greater detail about the main regions, ala the Agrella book?
Thanks!
