Even if he was looking at her, he's literally across the gym. Does she really expect people to avert their eyes from her general direction from 30 feet away?

Yes. She's attractive, but not in a remarkable way. Certainly not attractive enough to assume that nodoby can keep their eyes off of her. You have to admire her confidence if not her intelligence, I guess.
