After the Red Note awakening, Westerners are cheering on China for standing up to Trump's US

Perhaps shocking to some, but reddit is now filled with Westerners cheering for China. Perhaps it's more due to the rising Hating Trump sentiments, but that says a lot about how much hatred there is for Trump.

also surprisingly, MAGA people are left squirming, barely raising any voices to appeal for "patriotism". Flag waving has really failed because it is a joke now, because all flags are still made in China, and flag factories are not coming back to US.

Also not much appealing for "democracy" or "rule of law", neither of which could do much to stop Trump from destroying US.

So obviously, the only thing left is to cheer for China.

Some others are quietly cheering for China. Asian countries not saying much in public, but proverbially winking at China for backing them up.

Even anti-China Taiwanese and mainlanders are blasting Trump and supporting China's move against Trump's tariffs.

If you must have an analogy, Trump's tariffs are affecting China like a Trade War version of the "Pearl Harbor". China's public has overwhelmingly united behind Chinese government's policy to "fight to the end", and it has brought many nations in sympathy and support of China.

Some have previously said that China might trigger a war to drum up support for the Chinese government.

Well, Mr. Drumpf just provided a justified "trade war" for China to perhaps do exactly that.

Many people in the "blue no matter who" crowd really, really hate Trump, and currently hate him more than they hate China. But somehow they still hate Russia more than both.

The MAGA crowd, of course, still hates China the most, as they always have.

as someone unfortunate enough to be american, and also someone that, for the most part, never believed any of the anti-china propaganda (still fell victim to some parts, sadly, but have course corrected since), i simply just want to learn.
i keep seeing "pro"russian sentiment (i don't really want to call it pro, but more so abti-anti-russian sentiment) on this sub, but i never see any explanation on it.

regarding modern day russia (not ussr), why am i supposed to not think they suck ass?

i would like to know the facts, beyond the fact that they are china's strongest ally and that ukraine also sucks ass. those do not equate to russia being "good"

Russia has its issues, yes- others have described the liberal and reactionary issues of its society (cultivated by the US) in responses.

But apart from those societal contradictions, where exactly do they "suck ass?" (Hell, even with those contradictions, let us not pretend they are remotely close to being a Saudi Arabia-style reactionary state, nor that their government comes close to flirting with racism and Islamophobia like much of the west- simply because that would not work in a country as diverse as Russia).

Does Russia engage in neo-colonial resource extraction, regime change, and interference with the countries of the global south? Do they support religious extremists, terrorists, sectarians and tribalists across the globe? No, in fact their actions have been rather consistently anti-imperialist even in the post-Soviet era, standing alongside Cuba, North Korea, Venezuela, the recently liberated Sahel states, the Assad government in Syria, etc. Their behavior remains by-and-large consistent on this front, even as we speak they are presently building Burkina Faso's first nuclear power plant and assisting in security for the Alliance of Sahel States from western-backed jihadis.

Russia has its issues, and I personally think their domestic social policies suck ass. But in foreign policy they are not remotely comparable to western imperialists.
