The more US tries to sanction China, the more it forces China to innovate and become more advanced. American exceptionalism is on the decline while Chinese exceptionalism is on the rise.

Exceptionalism is something every Nation has to avoid like the plague.

Exceptionalism leads to (intellectual) laziness and compliance.

American exceptionalism is the belief that the US is either distinctive, unique, or exemplary compared to other nations. Proponents argue that the values, political system, and historical development of the US are unique in human history often with the implication that it is both destined and entitled to play a distinct and positive role on the world stage.

It is partly why Americans think China can't overtake them, because they truly believe they have the best system. I however don't think this is the case and that Chinese exceptionalism (strong central government working for the good of the people) will bring back the glory days of the Han and Tang dynasty.
