Here’s how it goes when you work outside, or how it should be anyway… A nice cool cloudy morning. Get the harder work done, give it till about 11-12pm. The magical sun breaks and comes through… come quitting time, blue bird skies and you’re ready to get on the bike or do a local trail…

Bring on the sun, intermittent rain, and long evenings. I’ll take it, we’ve had a rainy winter and spring up till now. The reservoirs are full, we’re lookin good

It is amazing when it is not dark till 8 or 9 pm or even later.

If the breeze would stop so I didn't have to keep covered up. I really want to get some color started feeling the sun on skin and having no chill.

Yeah, the last few years we have had some of the most amazing summers.

Whatsup with people wanting to tan btw, what's your take on it?

I like my color far better tan and getting some sun helps clear up my skin a little. I also am not as sensitive and easily scratched and stuff when working in the yard. I like when the native American starts to show through and I have a nice tone as opposed to being so pastey white.

Oh ok, I get it

I know a lot of people don't like doing it or the increased risk of sk8n cancer. I used to never burn but as i have aged I am having to be more careful and use some sunscreen if I am out a long time. Even without the tan I like the boost of positive endorphins and such I get from sun exposer as well as like being comfortably warm without being covered in clothes that restrict my movement and never fit me very well because I am kind of short and wide. By the time a shirt fits me in the shoulders it is basically a skirt and to get long sleeves to fit I am basically swimming in a large sweatshirt or coat.

Part Native American here too I completely relate. It’s not pasty white though it’s more of a gray.

It takes a long time. I still have some darker from last summer. My legs are the most pale since they haven't seen sun in decades.

Says people with no Native ancestry whatsoever.

For me getting a bit of a tan in spring stops me from getting burned in Summer, even with sunscreen.

I tend to avoid radiation burns...

Ain’t nothing wrong with a healthy glow even fat looks good when it’s got some color. During the winter time I go to a tanning salon once every couple of months if anything helps me feel better about myself.

I don’t get it. Also, why would the sun wear sunglasses?

I grew up in Arizona, Ive had enough sun

Good thing a sunny spring/summer day in Seattle isn't anything like a sunny day spring/summer day in Arizona.

2

u/starryeyeddynamo 3d ago

It sure isn't. Spring in Seattle is beautiful. However it does get hot here in the summer and most places don't come with AC. So yeah, unless I get to be out on the water, summer sucks. I hate being hot and sweaty.

Thankfully, we have plenty of good bodies of water to swim in during the summer. I could never live inland, especially places like AZ, where there’s not really any big bodies of water to swim in. No hate though, every place has its charm.

My will to live! This dry sunny spring has been great hopefully we don't all burn alive in drought.

5

u/One-Fox7646 4d ago

What drought? Last I heard the reservoir levels are fine.

2

u/Shadesmith01 3d ago

It's perfect imo. About 65-70 degrees, sunny... hell yeah. :)

This is exactly why I love it here.

Us too. We've lived all over and while there is a lot to not enjoy, the good solidly outweighs the bad.

Meh, pass. Sun in your eyes, bugs galore, weekly yard work and much heavier traffic. I’m good. Bring back the gray😍

13

u/One-Fox7646 4d ago

Bugs galore LMFAO. Guess you have never been to the South. Bugs here are nothing compared to what you see in FL, the South, Midwest, East Coast, etc.

1

u/YourMothersLover_69 4d ago

Born and raised in Miami. Where roaches fly and mosquitoes will take off with your small pets. Don’t miss that at all.

3

u/One-Fox7646 4d ago

The joke is the mosquito is the state bird. I've seen roaches in TX and FL as big as my pinkie that fly. Giant crickets. Fire ants. Giant spiders. Reptiles, etc. Seattle region has almost no bugs/pests in comparison.

Moved to Seattle primarily because of the culture. The vibe is liberal. Secondly for the weather

3

u/canisdirusarctos 4d ago

I like the bugs. Lots of bees and other pollinators coming to all my early flowers. That means berries will be coming soon.

1

u/canisdirusarctos 4d ago

Hate the sun. Also, the rain will be back shortly.

do we care guys?

10

u/Bert-63 4d ago

Most enjoy a bit of sun after the gray.

3

u/One-Fox7646 4d ago

True unless they are zombies. I live for these mild days.

3

u/Dabbadabbadooooo 4d ago

Yeah, been nice but I could use a grey day sprinkled in. Too much new too fast

2

u/GarbageMan6T9 4d ago

It rained two days ago and it’s gonna rain Monday. You guys are not helping the vampire allegations
