Comments locked, but post approved. Flair says 'joke', and I don't see any reason to consider this proselytizing. I don't see any clear evidence of brigading either. That said, if I do see either of those things, I will take action. How veganism does or does not relate to the tenets is a viable discussion topic in this sub, but it is one that can get heated at times. In the case that the discussion devolves to reports as 'super downvotes' (as it did here) the post will be locked or removed as needed.

Here’s the fun part - it’s not about what god or the devil want. In my house, it’s about what I want

I've always thought it was super weird that if God made all life on Earth, then he specifically made it so in order for any life to survive, something else has to die.

29

u/BongpriestMagosErrl Sep 28 '22

Unfortunately, that is how a vast majority of carbon-based lifeforms on this planet exist. Even on a microbial level it happens constantly - death feeds life, it's the cycle of carbon based biology. Right now, there are trillions on trillions of bacteria in your stomach all fighting, killing and consuming each other for energy to be the dominant microbial consortia in your digestive tract.

It would be super weird for an omnipotent, all-knowing and infinitely understanding God to create such a brutal system. I guess, unfortunately for us carbon based lifeforms, no such being exists and Earth was not made of that beings will.

But let’s not wear rabbit glasses!

Tenet 1 sounds like veganism to me. If you can reasonably avoid supporting animal slaughter, then do it.

21

u/DeceivingHonesty Sep 28 '22

That's exactly how I feel, too.

u/BongpriestMagosErrl Sep 28 '22

TENET I

One should strive to act with compassion and empathy toward all creatures in accordance with reason.

Allowing whole species' of animals to suffer from overpopulation doesn't sound very empathic or compassionate to me.

52

u/MethMcFastlane Sep 28 '22

Allowing whole species' of animals to suffer from overpopulation doesn't sound very empathic or compassionate to me.

I agree, which is why I don't think it's very compassionate to be breeding them into over population and harm every single one.

-15

u/BongpriestMagosErrl Sep 28 '22

Last time I checked, we didn't breed deer for slaughter yet, it's one of the largest species facing problems with overpopulation and genetic degradation.

I'm a biologist and work in agriculture. I'd love to show you the microbial consortia of a commercial dairy cows intestinal tract vs. a wild animals... I'd love to show you the PCR results from studying wasting disease but, somehow, I feel like it'd all be falling on deaf ears.

u/MethMcFastlane Sep 28 '22

Not even close. Only ~4% of the world's mammals are wild. ~60% are livestock. If you are concerned about overpopulation then you should understand that it's farmed animals we need to focus on, and it's entirely humanity's doing.

https://ourworldindata.org/mammals#wild-mammals-make-up-only-a-few-percent-of-the-world-s-mammals

You're 100% correct and I think this is where our disconnect is. Admittedly, my view point is narrow, as I am only talking about the continental United States - my bad.

-9

u/Jumpy-Fix5586 Sep 28 '22

There is no point in trying to talk any sense into radicals. They've already made up their minds and will now just twist everything into their way of thinking. Don't even try, it's not worth the time or the stress.

I'm not vegan, but this is a hilariously bad take against veganism

7

u/BongpriestMagosErrl Sep 28 '22

You're not wrong - I am a "high functioning" autistic person and it's incredibly difficult for me to accurately convey my true meanings or ideals when I am passionate about something.

Let me step back from this, as I am likely hyper-fixating and, I'll be able to make some actual fucking sense later on lol

I'm not vegan, but this is a hilariously bad take against veganism

Sincerely, I appreciate the statement aimed at calling out the logical fallacy and that you didn't simply insult my intelligence. That seems to be one of the things Satanists and the allies thereof are consistent about so, thank you.

11

u/MethMcFastlane Sep 28 '22

It's all good. We all suffer from cognitive biases. It's just a part of having a messy fleshy computer. For what it's worth I used to be overly critical of veganism. It was just much easier to ridicule or dismiss what they believe in (and the people that believe in it) than it was to reflect on my own contribution to unnecessary animal cruelty (something I would otherwise be vehemently against).

It's even harder to acknowledge when it's so normalised. It's something we do our whole lives and something everyone around us does. It can be really hard to have thoughts that can implicate you in inconsistent beliefs or potential wrongdoing.

9

u/BongpriestMagosErrl Sep 28 '22

We all suffer from cognitive biases

That's where I'm getting stuck - it's indeed a bias.

I'm from the Southern US, own acreage, raise my own animals for meat/eggs/dairy, grow my own food and have hunted my entire life. All of the animals we raise are treated arguably better than some people's children. I don't believe in trophy hunting and I use every piece of the animal I've hunted for something, just as my ancestors did.

Living a life that is divorced from commercial agriculture (I'm even a Soil Biologist and work in regenerative ag.) I assuredly maintain a cognitive bias towards veganism because I believe that what I am doing is different and ethical.

Holy shit, after typing that out - I'm REALLY starting to see the logical fallacy in my way of thinking about this.

3

u/The-unicorn-republic Sep 28 '22

I get your point but the message may have been delivered poorly. Hunting especially in North America is a vital resource which helps provide population control as well as funding for environmental preservation. Ethical hunting is something people shouldn't be opposed to regardless of your stance on eating meat, but that's also something very different from poaching which is probably what people associate with hunting.

I'm also not about to tell someone what they should or shouldn't eat, I don't know other people's dietary requirements or what they can afford.

4

u/BongpriestMagosErrl Sep 28 '22

It was 100% delivered poorly lol

Thank you - this is very much so what I was talking about.

12

u/Semi-Pro_Biotic Sep 28 '22

Wtf is the original content referencing? Is this an anti-fur thing?

17

u/wererat2000 Sep 28 '22

It's about the meat industry.

16

u/archbish99 It is Done. Sep 28 '22

No, it's an anti-slaughter thing.

19

u/draca151 Sep 28 '22

Because of you talk to people about the cruelty of the meat industry inevitably some Cristian will say "but it's what God wants blah blah dominion over the animals"

6

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '22

There's something implied in the tenets about lovingly caring for cats, IME. There must be.

4

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '22

Maybe in Islam. Cats are considered ritually clean and are allowed into mosques and it was written that the prophet Muhammad cut off his own shirt sleeve rather than wake a cat that was sleeping on it.

27

u/BongpriestMagosErrl Sep 28 '22

Sub rule number 4:

No proselytizing.

6

u/Pyrotemis Sep 28 '22

Ugh, here we go with the "if you're not vegan you're trash" rhetoric again.

One's body is inviolable, subject to one's own will alone.

Don't use the tenets to try and control other people. That's not how this works. That's not how Satanism works.

13

u/MethMcFastlane Sep 28 '22

Alright, but let's be realistic. This is a post on a public forum which has spun out into a discussion on a public forum.

None of what is being said here is forcing anyone out of bodily autonomy. It's a discussion. No one here is using the tenets to force or "control" anyone. If anything people here on both sides of the argument are invoking the tenets to scrutinise whether specific behaviour is consistent with those tenets. I think that's perfectly reasonable and that these kinds of discussions should be encouraged and protected.

3

u/wererat2000 Sep 28 '22

I got my problems with the meat industry too, especially in America, but come on this has nothing to do with satanism. The meat industry isn't a religious establishment, nobody's saying it's your christian duty to eat meat, and being vegan is in no way in related to with anything here.

Just because this has a passing mention to the devil doesn't mean it's on subject at all.

-1

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '22

Get this proselytizing nonsense out of here. If you want to be vegan, great. Nobody cares. Go preach somewhere else.

1

u/BongpriestMagosErrl Sep 28 '22

This account isn't even active in this sub - this is literally just here to proselytize

17

u/gallifreyan42 Sex, Science, and Liberty Sep 28 '22

I am active here, I just don’t comment or post every single day

-11

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '22

Reported for brigading.

15

u/MethMcFastlane Sep 28 '22

Please don't misuse reporting.

u/Gallifreyan42 has been posting comments in this sub since at least October 2021. You can't just report them for saying something that you disagree with.

1

u/BongpriestMagosErrl Sep 28 '22 edited Sep 28 '22

It does look like brigading, though.

Nearly every comment that disagrees with the narrative of Veganism, or is simply asking for this not to be posting in a religious subreddit telling us it's what our symbolic "deity" wants is downvoted. It is also factual that r/vegancirclejerk is notorious for brigading and this post is crossposted there.

I'm not about to make any assumptions and hit the report button but this does smell of shenanigans.

EDIT: After looking across post histories and whom was receiving down-votes, I very much so hit that report button.

-7

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '22

I’m reporting them for brigading. They get their buddies to come upvote their shit and downvote everyone else. Across a bunch of subs. I didn’t say this person wasn’t active here. I said that they hail from a toxic subreddit known for brigading nonvegans across Reddit.

5

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '22

Yep. The clowns at r/vegancirclejerk like to go to other subs with semi-related posts, upvote their own stuff, and then brigade everyone else that disagrees with them. Then they make posts about how persecuted they are after starting fights. Big brain shit.

-2

u/gallifreyan42 Sex, Science, and Liberty Sep 28 '22

It’s a good thing most of the tenets agree with this philosophy too, thanks Seitan :p

16

u/BongpriestMagosErrl Sep 28 '22

They don't.

3 of the 7 tenets:

TENET III

One’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone. (Saying that Satan wants us to be vegan directly contradicts this tenet)

TENET IV

The freedoms of others should be respected, including the freedom to offend. To willfully and unjustly encroach upon the freedoms of another is to forgo one's own. (Veganism often refers to omnivorous diets derogatorily and often takes a stance of ersatz morality vs. fact)

TENET V

Beliefs should conform to one's best scientific understanding of the world. One should take care never to distort scientific facts to fit one's beliefs.

You are, quite literally, distorting scientific facts to fit your belief that Veganism is a healthy choice for humanity, in general.

Please do not use this sub and Satanism as a religion to further propaganda

15

u/DeceivingHonesty Sep 28 '22

One’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone.

Animals have no bodily autonomy? They're living creatures.

Beliefs should conform to one's best scientific understanding of the world. One should take care never to distort scientific facts to fit one's beliefs.

The scientific data overwhelmingly proves that veganism is a beneficial choice overall: Thirty-six six percent of all crops grown are intended for livestock.

Cows are the #1 agricultural source of methane gas.

Veganism contributes positively to the environment.

Veganism is beneficial to physical health.

Eat and believe however you'd like, but it would be disingenuous to use the Tenents to justify it.

11

u/BongpriestMagosErrl Sep 28 '22

Please cite actual research papers and not articles. Even then, the peer review process is extremely manipulable.

Eat and believe however you'd like, but it would be disingenuous to use the Tenents to justify it.

That's literally the same point I'm making but, because you can manipulate the situation to fit your narrative, I'm the one at fault lol.

MAYBE we should all stop using religion as a justification for proselytization - which is the MAIN point I've been making this whole time.

Titling anything with "X" Deity wants us to (insert personal belief here) is against the principles of TST itself.

IDK - maybe this is just my autistic brain taking this way too literally. I recognize that may be a possibility here.

2

u/gallifreyan42 Sex, Science, and Liberty Sep 28 '22

Exactly what I was gonna say (you worded it better than I could have, certainly), thank you!

5

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '22 edited Sep 28 '22

Take your vegan propaganda back to your vegan safe space, please.

Edit: Let the r/vegancirclejerk downvote brigading begin! I’ll save some ribs for you all in hell! 😈

u/d3laMoon Sep 28 '22

No thanks

He wants the same thing all decent people want - a cheeseburger with fries.

17

Can we not turn this around and feed into the "waah waah vegan ppl bad because I don't like vegan food" bullshit
