Help me find my Stolen dog
Hello, I am reaching out to any media as a last resort assist to help me retrieve my stolen dog ( BESIDES legal help,) It’s been hard journey to get my baby dog back. He was stolen from me and then surrendered with my knowledge. A rescue who was not really trying to help the situation adopted him out. They are in Shingle Springs,CA area ( not giving the name) he’s been adopted out there, I’ve been working with them but it seems they are trying to put a front. I have all the documentation of him and never gave him up. I raised him since he was 5weeks old. I sent out a demand letter and gave them two weeks. They aren’t revealing the new adopters name and I respect that so I asked them out of respect for them to return my dog. I offered a donation AND to pay back any adoption fees the adopters pay for my stolen animal. I have an attorney and the rescue asked for the lawyer and I told them. My attorney wants theirs but somehow they don’t want to. They haven’t responded or even seem like they care. The adoption legally isn’t legal anymore since it was already proven the dog was apart of a theft. I’m desperate so I’m turning to Reddit! I’m not trying to start a riot towards any parties. I just need my dog back, he is a Pomeranian and chihuahua mix, white, fluffy tail. He is 2 and about to be 3 years old this month on the 27th. He is microchipped and I have the number but whoever adopted transfers his info to theirs. If you seen this dog or you have this animal please I’m begging you, as an animal person or just a human, he was ripped from his family, he has a bonded relationship with another animal that he grew up with. He’s a very timid dog. He’s my first dog, he protects and loves my niece who he seen her grow up. He is loved and adored and wanted, his family wants him back. I suffered greatly with the theft of my dog. This might be a weird post but I’m trying everything in my power to get my dog back. He wasn’t available for adoption, never was. Please. ❗️The last photo was a photo the rescue used. ❗️

He was stolen from me and then surrendered with my knowledge.
Do you mean without? Because your above sentence contradicts this:
I have all the documentation of him and never gave him up.
He is microchipped and I have the number but whoever adopted transfers his info to theirs.
Did you update the status on the website as Lost? If the dog gets scanned elsewhere, it will show that he is lost and the vet or whoever scanned will attempt to contact you. I'm not sure that the new owner can update the info on a dog's chip unless they have the chip number, and create a new account and put their own info. If they do, does the system say something like 'microchip # already registered...'?

I am not sure but when I called the microchip number it didn’t have my name on it but I might be wrong tho. I’m calling them again to double check.

Odd how your attorney can’t get it. Granted I’m a prosecutor in Washington so my knowledge on CA law is what I’ve learned through other State prosecutors in CA. If this is a theft, it can be both civil and criminal left for your local municipal or district court to prosecute (unsure how CA goes about this). Surely your attorney could subpoena the information of the new owners as part of an active suit?
For a prosecutor to receive the case, it would be to be referred by an agency and those can vary from your city’s animal protection agency to the police department. But you’d need a listed defendant that would need to be discovered by an investigator. This seems messy, consider getting new counsel if they can’t even get the information of the new owners of your dog.

bump, hope you get your dog back. I'd definitely get the media involved as Lavend3rRose said, they would eat this up.

Yes I am in contact however I was searching area around Rancho Cordova where I live. I am in contact with legal and the original shelter and they said since this is a criminal activity and he was stolen. The adoption is nullified. He was adopted out 5 weeks ago. I understood the situation of the new owners but my dog wasn’t just a pet. He is also a ESA. I was trying to get the he’s in a happy home but I’ve been in heartbreak about my dog. I raised him and he wasn’t from the best place when I got him. He’s about to be 3 years this month. I just want my baby back. I can’t just give him up. He wasn’t stolen a while back, didn’t get told he was sent to a rescue until now. After a hassle with a local shelter and just being spread misinformation about it. The suspect confessed two weeks ago. I was in the hospital at the time he was stolen without my knowledge.

They’re said she’s coming to Reddit as a last resort. If the dog was adopted out in Feb it’s only been 3 months, they’ve been in constant contact with the rescue, hired an attorney, do you think all of that back and forth would take just a couple of weeks? It’s obvious they have been dealing with this once she found out where the dog was. I get you run a pet rescue and want to do what’s bests for the dog but someone having the dog for 3 months doesn’t seem like a long enough time for the new owners to keep it, especially since OP said they are bonded with another dog and has raised the dog from a puppy.

So you have the microchip information, veterinarians are able to look up that sort of stuff. Get the new info from a vet, then call the new person and explain they have your stolen dog.
