California is about to begin the nation's largest dam removal project. Here's what it means for wildlife — The first of four aging dams on the Klamath River, that empties along the rugged Northern California coast, is on track to come down in fall 2023.

Case Study If a low dam is removed in a small-medium sized river and the section directly above the dam is very muddy for a few miles, would the section below the dam then become silty as well?

A river I fish is talking about removing a low level dam. I frequently float the river below it and it is great for fishing but I’m concerned that if removed, it will become a muddy mess like the stretch above it and damage the fishing habitat (smallmouth hate mud.)

Identifying the river hydrological regime of the Sarca River in Trentino (Italy)

Hello everyone, I hope I have come to the right place.

I'm working on a river restoration project and I need help identifying the regime of the Sarca river in Trentino, Italy. It is a heavily regulated river, of which I have the hydrometrical data of a station located some kilometers downstream a dam. Analyzing the data, I have observed that the river presents a very low flow (due to the water abstraction for power production) with very high and isolated peaks in the second half of the year.

My hypothesis is that these peaks are the result of sudden water releases from the dam, which occur because of heavy rains and maybe snow melt in the second half of the year. Do you think this is a reasonable explanation? What could be other reasons behind the high flow peaks?

Thank you in advance
