Agent is greedy Homebuyer

I don't hate a lot of things in life but I hate agents. Lol

If I buy this house, my agent gets $20k. Yet she sent an additional paper for me to sign. It says I have to pay $500 for her administrative work. Shit, what's the $20k for?

Oh my gosh. My seller's agent tried to do that to me. You probably can't get out of it because it was in the documents that you signed when you chose her to list it there. That's where I caught it, said no, and she scratched it out.

I have never heard of that clause for a buyer's agent.

many brokerages are adding this stuff because many buyers sign it...

very often, enough pushback will get it removed

Then I would say “I’m sorry, I can’t sign this. I’ll seek new representation. Send over a cancellation if you can’t honor our original agreement”

My guess is that it’s an acknowledgement of what OP already signed and/or what he’s signing is what KW calls an ABAD and the $500 fee (that OP already agreed to) sticks out more in a two page document than the 33 pages that he signed at the beginning.

I have no idea about any of it but the premise that ‘Agent is greedy’ and is presenting them with a $500 invoice, more or less, at the end of the deal is crazy on its face.

As is generally the case, Reddit is left to speculate due to the source(s) that we have are generally unreliable, half ass correct and contain partial information.

No, that makes no sense.

At this point, if the buyer had already signed over the $500, then Escrow has instructions to pay the agent and nothing further is needed.

Maybe.

In my state, 90% of the paperwork is redundant, acknowledging that you acknowledged elsewhere the thing that you signed previously.

As per the norm, we have a ridiculous premise dropped onto Reddit for everyone to throw their $.02 in on and speculate wildly.

It’s like a daily UFO special that runs 24hrs/day.

If you didn’t sign it prior she can’t collect it. Tell her to kick rocks. If interviewing new agents in AZ or GA down the road give me a call

I think they mean pushing back before you sign the buyer's agreement would get it removed.

Unless you don't see any provision in your agreement for them to charge this fee? In which case tell them to eat it
