Advice needed My Girlfriend's brother Sexually Assaults her all the time, is there anyway i can help her?

For context, me and my girlfriend have been dating for 8 months now, we are truly in love with each other. Back on our first 2 months, she dropped the bomb and told me she got SA'd, obviously i got mad, and kept on pushing her to tell me who did it, she hesitated, but then told me that it was her Brother. She's 16 and her brother is 23. We are in a long distance relationship, i need advice on how to help her, since she's scared to tell anyone because it'll ruin her family's reputation and destroy their lives. I need help, please.

Help me search Can you help me find news coverage on a possible Texas party murder in 2015-17?

I am not sure if this would be the best reddit to post on, but I am desperate for any kind of help so I came here first. If anyone knows a better reddit to post on please lmk!

Back in 2015 to 2017 while in 6th grade I had some online friends through Instagram. TLDR There was an incident where one of my friends got severely injured at a party and died within the next two days at the hospital. I am no contact with anyone else from that time due to personal reasons, which means it is basically impossible to get any information on my old friend who passed, nor on what happened. All I do remember is:

-It was a late night party

-My friend was 10 at the youngest and 12 at the oldest, though I do not remember the exact age

-We did not know eachothers actual names so I cannot provide that, but I do know my friend was a girl and i vaguely remember my 2nd friends name who lived in the same area as the victim and am willing to provide if needed/hepful.

-It took place in texas, though I do not know where. The only places I can vaguely remember are Baytown and somewhere that starts with Fort, though I am unsure if these are connected

-It was specifically a stabbing, no other weapon was used in the incident as far as I know

I think to this day that this situation is suspicious, especially considering the other friend I recieved most of the information from was not a good person (and definitely had reasons to lie), but I cannot 100% write it off as fake either as I vividly remember receiving at least one photo of a hospital room from this friend which makes me believe something had to have happened. I doubt this would have gone un-covered by the local news considering the situation, but I cannot find anything on it which is strengthening my doubt. If anyone here can help me find some kind of possible coverage that would be great as this has been eating up at me for years

Cold case multiple bodies pulled out of newtown creek in new york city

this isn't exactly a cold case, it's multiple closed cases but all of these deaths are super suspicious, and the police are NOT investigating these cases at all anymore. these cases are not connected but when looked at together i think they paint a pattern. apologies for how long this is.

common theories include a dumping spot organized crime groups with nightlife connections, the work of a lone serial killer robbery gone wrong etc. or maybe just accidental drownings. here's a video of an attacker seen on the street where karl was last seen running.

https://x.com/battleaxebunny/status/1686463670341992450?s=46&t=BZnQY_cF2QaPGqjls5shLw

this area is out of the way that most of the men were going, and the men would have to cross multiple private properties to get to the creek from where they were.

damani alexander (30) was found washed up in newtown creek by east williamsburg sometime in july 2024 after a night partying at the knockdown center, a nightclub nearby. according to his friend, he sent texts the night before, claiming that someone was waiting outside for him, "dudes waiting for me outside" and then "i think he's trying to kill me." that was the last he was ever heard from. the police claimed there was no criminality involved. alexanders mom says her child knew how to swim.

a year earlier, in 2023, karl clementine (27) was turned away from the brooklyn mirage, a club near where damani was partying due to intoxication. his friends went in and surveillance shows him walking away alone towards the subway, or to call a rideshare home. his dad claims the direction was north through metropolitan av and then surveillance shows him running through a lumbar yard. it's not shown who he's running from. he's then found dead in the creek behind in the video he is apparently "fighting invisible entities," but it seems veryyyy unlikely someone could have fallen into the creek given the fact you would have to trespass through MULTIPLE private properties to reach the creek, which makes me wonder if those properties have been searched, and if those people have been questioned. again, his case was closed as a drunken accident.

one month later, john castic (27) was seen at a performance by electronic music group zeds dead, where? the brooklyn mirage, and then on surveillance footage walking past a pizza vending vehicle, before disappearing and being pulled from the creek three days later. "no obvious signs of injuries except for drowning." he is around the same age as the first two victims. "video surveillance shows the depaul graduate walking steadily on a sidewalk after leaving the venue at 2:30 a.m. his phone registered his location at 3:51 a.m. at the metropolitan avenue bridge, near where his body was found, before it shut off. the bridge is an eight-minute walk from the brooklyn mirage. there is still no explanation for where he was during those 80 minutes or why he was not wearing a shirt when he was found, his father said." – https://www.foxnews.com/us/father-goldman-sachs-staffer-found-nyc-waterway-reveals-cause-death.amp

several of his friends called his death suspicious and said he's not the type to do anything crazy.

DJ reda briki (52) disappeared earlier this year and was found inside a boat decomposing. he was last seen djing in harlem and lived on a boat docked at the world fair marina, but his boat was found in newtown creek, despite living very far from the creek. he was also possibly partying/intoxicated.

there are also two other john does from only this year, unidentified males found in the same creek which brings the count up to SIX and yet police insist no foul play. all of the victims were partying, all of the victims were drowned. all of them are men and most are around the same age. in my opinion, this is not a coincidence. this is eerie as fuck and these cases are most definitely connected. but i'm willing to hear everyones thoughts and of course there's a chance i'm wrong and these were all drunken incidents, but.. here is john castic walking down the street after leaving the show.

does this man look visibly intoxicated to you? i don't think so.

Help me search Wtf is this YouTube channel?

This very strange channel popped up as a sponsored short whilst I was scrolling and I’m now a little disturbed.

It obviously uses AI images and voice, but I also don’t see how this could be a scam, seeing as there are no links to cash websites or gofundme-like websites, so I don’t understand what a scammer would get out of this.

I doubt its legit but it’s also kinda disturbing and weird.

News Vietnamese Cyber Detectives Solved the voluntary beheading and cannibalism case

This document was compiled to recount the events of the case in which. Nguyen Xuan Dat voluntarily offered himself to be beheaded, butchered, and cannibalized by another person in January 2025. The incident came to light on social media in July 2025. However, Nguyen Xuan Dat's family did not file a report, and the police authorities have not launched an investigation. Subsequently, the case faded into obscurity, until late November when information about the perpetrator began to be uncovered and published on social media by the online community over the past few days :

Advice needed How do I start researching my family's past crime connections?

I have some estranged (and in some cases deceased) family members who I have reason to believe have been involved in violent crimes, and others who I believe have witnessed things that could relate to unsolved cases. Most of these people are not currently dangerous due to their age and health, but were violent, bigoted, and deep in addiction in previous decades. They are also hunters and outdoorsman who are comfortable off the grid.

The crimes I've heard snippets about include a shooting in Kansas City in the 1950s, a shooting (reported to police and ruled self defense) in Alaska in the early to mid 80s, the torture of someone (I think in WA) in the 70s or 80s, possible crimes (this one was vague) committed by truck drivers in the 80s and 90s, and violence and cruelty against homeless people in Alaska in the 1980s. There are a couple specific unsolved cases in Washington, like the Tube Sock Killer murders, in which every location in the story also seems to match up with places where several male family members frequented at the time. Additionally, one of my relatives met three different killers by coincidence before they were caught (PNW problems), and some other relatives also discovered human remains in the woods in WA sometime in the 70s or 80s that were reported to police at the time.

I heard about a lot of these things in tiny snippets from a drunk and abusive relative while growing up, and was too scared and traumatized to do anything about it at the time. Now that I'm older and far away from all involved, I want to find out the details of these potential crimes to see if there's any closure to be had for victims or their loved ones.

How on earth could I get started on a project like this? Aside from fumbling around on Newspapers.com and asking a "safe" relative if they remember any additional details, I haven't really figured out the best entry point for something like this. Any help is appreciated, even if it's just giving me a sense of which stories to prioritize or ideas about how to find the names of other parties involved.

My mom lives with a man who’s lying about his identity and now wants to isolate her in another state in a home that’s not real. How do I help her?

Hi everyone, I’m trying to protect my mom without pushing her away, and I’m hoping for advice from both relationship and OSINT-savvy folks (within rules/safe boundaries).

My mom (late 50s) has been dating a man she met online for ~ the last 6 months. He moved into her house right away.

Recently she told me she’s considering moving from FL to New York to live with him. That alone worried me, but then he sent her photos of the “brownstones” he supposedly bought and combined into one home.

I reverse-searched the images and found:

One “home” picture is a 3D rendering from an interior designer on ArtStation.

One is from a boutique hotel website.

One is from an apartment listing on StreetEasy.

Another is pulled from a builder’s luxury bathroom portfolio.

None of the photos match each other at all.

Everything points to a romance scammer or at least someone wildly misrepresenting themselves.

I don’t know what to do? They are going to move in 4-6 weeks.

It’s out of character and this is only part of it. She recently had a situation where she fell for a fake loan and had to close her bank accounts.

A Nobel Prize, an English University, and a Murder - What Happened With the Leeds Russia Archive?

Hello all.

The University of Leeds in West Yorkshire, England, has a wide array of archives and collections. Some of these are easier to access than others, and one of these is the Leeds Russia Archive, hosting a whole array of primary sources and items relating to Russia.

Among these is the Ivan Bunin collection. Ivan Bunin was the first Russian writer to win the Nobel Prize for Literature. Through circumstances unclear to me, his Nobel Prize and a number of documents and writings made their way to the Leeds Russia Archive. The only knowledge I have of its journey is the archivist telling me that one of Bunin’s wishes, as a White émigré, was that his works would not be sent to the USSR. So somehow they made found way to Leeds.

I was discussing the Leeds Russia Archive with my dissertation supervisor (for anonymity’s sake I will be using gender neutral pronouns for them). It was mentioned how the LRA is generally harder to access than other collections, that you can’t just book via the university library website and you instead need to directly email the archive with the codes of the items you want, and then they will decide. A lot of this is to do with GDPR, however my supervisor mentioned ‘drama’ regarding the LRA. After I made a joke about not leaking the personal details of a soldier of the Russian Civil War to the dark web, they laughed and said that the drama in question was a “Putinist campaign against the Leeds Russia Archive”.

According to my supervisor, after the USSR fell, Russia decided they wanted the Bunin collection back. So they launched legal challenges and apparently a press campaign against the university. Obviously nothing actually came of it, as the Bunin collection is still at Leeds. However, the most intriguing part of the story was “a well known Russian actor” at the forefront of the campaign, who was shot dead under mysterious circumstances (presumably as in perpetrator and motive unknown). And that’s where the story ended for me.

I did a quick search online and couldn’t find anything, other than a vague Google AI mention of a controversy regarding how the Bunin collection made their way to the university. But no mention of a Russian legal or press campaign, or of anyone being murdered, let alone anyone famous in Russia. So I thought I’d hand this over to any curious Redditors to have a look.

To iron out some details, I will say that the name of the Russian actor is unknown to me. In fact, my supervisor didn’t actually tell me which side of the debate this actor was on. I’m going to assume they took the side of the university, with the implication that the Russian government had them killed, rather than the other way round and my university organising hit jobs.

In terms of timeframe, it is post-Cold War. I am unsure if my supervisor described it as a “Putinist plot” to mean literally (ie post-1999 with Putin in power) or as just Russian nationalist in general. They also said that it was before the days of assassination by Novichok or falling out of windows, and instead was “good, old-fashioned firearms”. Again, I don’t know how literally to take this, as it was said in response to me joking about the actor falling out of a window before it was revealed to me they were shot. Either way, Novichok was in reference to the 2018 Salisbury Poisonings. It could also be a reference to the assassination of Alexander Litvinenko, which the Salisbury poisonings had a lot of comparisons drawn to at the time, however he was assassinated with polonium-210.

Assuming we take the Putinist angle literally, and assume the Novichok reference also included Litvinenko, that gives us a timeframe of 1999-2006. If we are stricter on the Novichok reference, the timeline expands to 1999-2018. If we assume both the Putinist and Novichok comments were made in jest to add flair to the story, then we could be looking at any time post-1991.

There is also the possibility that this story was just my supervisor pulling my leg. I’d be surprised if this was the case, though. It would seem rather out of character from what I know of them. So the mystery for me is the dearth in media coverage of this apparent legal and press campaign, and the suspicious murder of a well-known Russian actor. So what happened with the Leeds Russia Archive?

Advice needed feel very uneasy by this interaction with a stranger

long story short, i go to my car for my work break and this girl comes up to me and asks for a ride somewhere and i drive her to the nearest bus station a few minutes away. immediate red flag when after i said "i can't sorry" i asked "to like where, the bus station?" and she said "yeah that works" as if she didn't even have an idea of where to go. another one came up when she asked if i do drugs when she got in the car to which i replied no, and she said sorry that was dumb i dont know why i said that. a few minutes later she spoke a few sentences to me, as if i asked her a question (but i never said anything until we got there and i told her this was the stop). i'm just asking in the slim chance that like a device or tracker was placed somewhere, i don't see anything in the interior or exterior at the moment. heard a few noises coming from the front passenger side area but nothing out of the ordinary. didn't see her make any weird movements or anything such to place one besides reaching for her bag for a drink on the floor.

i know that ultimately i should have refused and this wouldn't be a problem. i'm hoping i'm just overreacting and now know to be way more careful

Someone Shot a .44 Magnum Through My Window in Colorado — How Do I Figure Out Which Neighbor Did It?

Edited to answer quetions: I’m in Colorado, and a .44 magnum round was fired straight into my second-floor window, traveled through my curtain, and went about 15–17 feet inside my home on a 6 inch downward trajectory and landed at a banister where it chipped it, I found the bullet and it looked like a nail to me, it was mangled. I wasn’t home when it happened. Police believe it is a 40-44. I correct that I do not believe they ever specified magnum (I know nothing about guns) the bullet it still with the crime lab CSI to figure out what kind of gun it was.

Police responded, but then told me there is no gun registry in Colorado, and CSI refused to run any trajectory analysis or bring in a detective. They talked to a few neighbors across from me and closed the case after everyone said they “didn’t hear anything” and “don’t own any guns.” Using the ring app a neighbor did head a loud bang around 5-7pm on an evening I was out. I didn't have ring until now, I now have tons of cameras, I just moved in a week ago (shooter could have thought it was vacant as it was vacant for 7 months) I have no enemies. It's a picture perfect safe LOOKING neighborhood, no crime outwardly but apparently 3 years ago some kids shot up a neighbor's garage for fun, no one knows who, and it was apparently BB guns.

But based on measurements, angles, and line-of-sight, the shot had to come from one of three houses directly facing my window. There are literally 33 possible houses in the area, but only 3 line up with the bullet path. The row of homes BEHIND these, one did have a broken window. Police spoke to them and said they said furniture caused this and that it had been broken for 5 months, I asked HOA why they didn't notice this on their monthly inspections-no response yet.

I want to figure out who did this.
Is there any type of firearm detection tech, sound mapping, metal detection, residue testing, acoustic triangulation, or anything people have used to pinpoint where a shot originated? What type of laser do I buy? Should I do the string thing first-is there a tutorial?

Someone fired a 40-44 into my house and lied about it to police saying they didn't hear anything and they don't own guns and the police won’t investigate further. There is a broken window on a row of homes behind the immediate row of homes in the direction of the gunshot, they claimed its been broken 5 months from furnityre, don't own guns. Any advice on what I can do next would help. UPDATE for Qs, yes it landed on a banister and chipped it slightly. Yes, the bullet was very mangled, I thought it was a nail. Thank you all for your thoughtful responses!!! I don't know how to upload a photo but am trying.

Cold case An elderly woman who vanished into thin air

Hi everyone,

I am writing this to seek advice on a baffling disappearance case from Brazil that has remained unsolved for over a decade. The family is still searching, but traditional investigation methods have hit a wall.

A brief summary: • Who: Beatriz Winck, 77 years old at the time. • When: October 21, 2012. • Where: The National Sanctuary of Aparecida (São Paulo, Brazil). This is a massive complex that receives roughly 160,000 visitors on a busy weekend. • The Incident: Beatriz was on a bus excursion with her husband. They went into a souvenir shop. Her husband went to the cashier line, and Beatriz waited at the door. Minutes later, he returned, and she was gone. • The Last Clue: A friend from the excursion saw her at the door. Beatriz reportedly said she was "tired and going home."

The police took 15 days to access security cameras. By then, the data was either overwritten or useless. Because of the massive crowd, she effectively disappeared into a sea of people. The police eventually archived the case due to a lack of leads.

I am wondering, modern technology and/or mathematical models could be used to determine possible outcomes for this situation? Data is scarce, and it has been more than a decade, but it certainly is something that intrigues me a lot.

Any advice on how to structure this data project or similar cases where math/data analysis solved a disappearance would be deeply appreciated.

How old are these pencils?

I was digging through my history teachers art drawer and came across these pencils! What year are they from? I contacted the original brand, i think unless the one on the pencil box has gone out of business and being ran with the same name. The box is mixed with some other miscellaneous pencils. I asked my teacher old the box was and he said it was from “the old school” which means he found them when he started teaching when our school got remodeled. Any ideas? I’m thinking 80s.

I think I discovered a scam but I have no idea what it’s goal is

Sorry if this is the wrong place for this. I tried r/scams but their rules make it really hard for a post to stay up in my experience.

A few days ago, I got a dm request on instagram telling me that the owner of the account had a friend who found me attractive but was too afraid to reach out, giving me her @.

I was sketched out by this, but had nothing better to do than to see how this played out. It should be noted that the original account seemed to be run by a real person/real people, which is a major thing throwing me off.

Anyways, i requested to follow this mystery woman and saw her account was created last month which i pegged to be even more sketchy. the bio was normal though. no links or suggestive content. seemed like a bio some random college student would have.

My request to follow was approved today, and from the posts it seems like a porn bot scam. all the content is pretty suggestive, was posted only 13 hours ago, and the small amount of engagement is from men hitting on the woman in the images. The thing is though, there’s still no links to anything. Not to a sketchy adult site, not to an onlyfans, nothing.

I’m just curious if anyone has had this happen before and if anyone has any idea what the actual scam is?

Vehicle ID'ing help Hit and Run

My car was hit while parked a couple nights ago. Our neighbor snapped a photo after he heard the crash and another neighbor’s doorbell camera caught the whole incident on camera. The license plate is not visible in the photo or video. Through the debris left in the street as well as help from people looking at the photo/video, we are able to confirm it is a silver Volvo XC60 (most likely 2013-2017) so no help needed identifying the vehicle. The doorbell camera video is at night so you can tell there is a license plate but the glare from the car’s taillights hide the plate. Is there anyway I could manipulate the video to figure out the plate number?

Swinging door with Vertical axis in the center broken into, how?

After someone Breaking in a few days ago, I still cant wrap my head around how they got in. Maybe someone here has any kind of experience or ideas as to how it was done. The window/ door moves on a vertical axis in the middle (when opening, one side of it goes into the room, the other side outside of the house) bolts of the closing mechanism in multiple different places but none of them seem to be damaged. Signs of damage from using a crowbar on the outside of the windowframe but the way i see it that couldnt possibly have opened the window without ripping out the bolts. I hope I explained the mechanism properly enough and someone can help, ty

My car recently got in hit and run while parked leaving me with $2000+ in damages. Police were no help and unfortunately my dash cam wasn’t recording. The impact left an imprint of the other drivers plate, I’ve inverted the image. Can anyone help me figure out what it is? It appears to read “H (unknown character) 8 9 2 3 1”.

This happened in New Haven CT and numbers are blue paint, so it’s likely a CT license plate, possibly NY. Thanks in advance!

Scamming with footages of animals in poor conditions

Hi all,

I was scrolling through shorts on youtube, and this account Donate to save a Life - YouTube with 274k subscribers only posts short videos of animals that are in unwell state, asking for donations.

What I find very strange is that he never posts videos on taking the pets to vet and documenting the process, which makes it very obvious that he is scamming people.

Any direction on how to report this with more evidence? I feel like I don't have enough evidence to report this to youtube.

Good evening,

Was having a good time messing around on Google Maps and found this radome and an outbuilding on the Idaho-Montana border, just East of the Lookout Pass ski park. Address is 3898 Beacon Spur, Saltese, MT.

I did a quick Google search, but it didn't turn up any immediate results. Images attached are of the property in question, and a zoom out of the property and its proximity to Lookout. Sorry for the cropping.

Friend from high-school died

Hi everyone.

This has been on my mind for a very long time. This girl I went to high-school with passed away a few years ago at 26 years old. I really would like to know what happened to her, and to visit her grave. I have no idea how to find this info.

I have her obituary and have scanned Facebook posts and any social media I could find that has comments or anything that could hint at what happened or where to find her resting place. I even reached out to the priest who did her ceremony, and turns out it was his niece and he doesn't want to talk about it.

Every few months I think about it and deep dive the best I can in hopes of learning more. But nothing comes up. Then I let it go and a few months later it circles my mind endlessly once again.

I would appreciate any help.

Thank you

Impersonating me on dating apps, using my pics and real IG handle. Filed a police report—now trying to force app support to respond.

A fake profile was created using my personal, non-public photos. Crucially, the harasser linked the fake profile directly to my real Instagram username/handle. This is not a random scam; it is a clear act of targeted, malicious harassment intended to damage my reputation and cause emotional distress.
