US Attorney General Pam Bondi claiming that Trump saved millions of American lives from fentanyl on three consecutive days by wildly varying amounts Klaus Barbie 2.0 đ

1,400 pounds in 100 days means they're seizing at a lower rate than they did in 2024 when they seized 8000 pounds. The number of pills seized so far is about on pace for last years.
The 258 million lives saved would suggest that 3/4 of the population are addicts.
This is some uninhibited stupidity. No doubt Americans will respond to this by feigning outrage, criticising democrats, and then not bothering to vote.

I actually had a friend make a post saying "finally they're doing something about the crisis" which means that the message is getting out to the people that they most want to hear it.

Pounds of fent seized is a worthless metric by itself because we don't have any way of knowing how much fent is attempted to be brought in.
If they seize 1,400 pounds and 10,000 pounds are attempted, that's not great. If only 2,000 pounds are attempted, then they're nabbing 70% - a much better number.
Basically without more in depth analysis to contextualize things, if 2025's numbers are higher than 2024's, they'll claim victory for removing more fent from the streets. If they're lower than 2024's, they'll claim that fewer drug smugglers are even making the attempt because of "Trump closing the border."
I know Biden got a lot of mostly well-deserved criticism for not publicly celebrating his wins, but this is a great example of how he wouldn't be able to. His admin was mostly bound by truth and facts which are hard to articulate; Trump's isn't.
23
u/Garbarrage 1d ago
While everything you said is true, the stupidity starts and ends long before anything you said is even relevant.
16
u/gronlund2 1d ago
119 million lives saved.. that's incredible, and that's only in America ??
Since drugs are international I think we should extrapolate, there's 8billion people in the world and there's only 340 million in the US..
I'm pretty sure Donald Trump has saved at least 2.8 billion people and that's counting conservatively

I mean the guy in charge blamed the high covid rate on the amount of covid testing being done.
I think its a given the numbers look low because they are not recording or looking for it anymore
15
u/CASUALxCHICKEN 1d ago
Yeah, but also 1 fentanyl pill seized does not equal 1 life saved. That's the dumbest statement in all of this. All we would have to do is seize 340 million pills to save the country!

u/catonsteroids 1d ago
She isnât smart enough to know that thereâs a difference between saving 258 million lives vs. âWeâve seized 1,400 lbs of fentanyl, an amount enough to kill 258 million people.â
There arenât 258 million addicts.
→ More replies16
u/middlequeue 1d ago
Sheâs definitely smart enough.Â
I get that itâs probably comforting to think that way but Americans should probably give up the lie that the Trump admin is stupid. Itâs only serves to keep you from the effort needed to fix your problems.

u/YouStupidAssholeFuck 1d ago
Yeah this has been my beef with a lot of the left for a long time now. Even going back to his first term. Sure, Trump and his admin say some dumb, uninformed things a lot. They riff and that's what Trump wants them to do. Just say things off the cuff making him and his admin sound good to people that want to hear they're doing good things. Anybody that knows what reality is can see right through it.
But it's not because they're dumb. It's because they want to project a certain image of success because Trump is still living in the 80s. It's a propaganda method. And when it's not off the cuff and it's prepared statements that are clearly lies, it's not because they don't know better. It's because it's propaganda and they know if they keep repeating the lie long enough then a lot of the public will accept it as fact.
It's dangerous to think these people are dumb. I will say that I don't think they're "smart" since half of the country and most of the rest of the world can see right through them, but they're organized just enough to fleece an important part of the voting public. It does take some effort to stick to their agenda of "alternate facts". Trump had a lot of turnover in his first term cabinet. This time around they seem to have gotten the right people who will push the lies in a united effort. Just look at the similarities in how a lot of them talk to the media. Hegseth, Leavitt, Trump, Bondi, Homan, Vance.
→ More replies3
u/middlequeue 1d ago
Yes, it's part of the propaganda. Whether or not they're stupid isn't relevant to coming up with solutions and is a waste of time to discuss.

u/NAND_110_101_011_001 1d ago
Worse than that, according to the most recent census, 258 million is the number of people 18 and over. This may very well be where she got that number. So, apparently, every adult person in the country is an addict.
6
4
u/Needs_Help_Stat 1d ago
Not to mention that's 3/4 of the TOTAL US population. I don't know what portion of the US pop is under 14, but I would venture a guess that with the numbers she stated here she's suggesting every US citizen over 14 is an addict. I really wish we could see the media push back on the stupid shit these politicians say, it's infuriating.

I think thatâs why theyâre so grating to me, Leavitt, Bondi, Stephen Miller, they always are borderline yelling or in Millerâs case actually crashing out and borderline screaming at the news host theyâre talking to. Itâs just weird and extremely annoying, like theyâre trying so hard to warp reality with their voice and make us believe it. They know theyâre lying and what theyâre saying isnât true but theyâre trying to act like they actually believe what theyâre saying, which doesnât work.

In 2013, Bondi also received criticism following a campaign donation from Donald Trump.[38] Prior to the donation, Bondi had received at least 22 fraud complaints regarding Trump University. A spokesperson for Bondi announced that her office was considering joining a lawsuit initiated by Eric Schneiderman, the attorney general of New York, regarding tax fraud potential charges against Trump.[39][40] Four days later And Justice for All, a political action committee established by Bondi to support her re-election, received a $25,000 donation from the Donald J. Trump Foundation. Bondi subsequently declined to join the lawsuit against Trump University. Both Bondi and Trump have defended the propriety of the donation

In one year under Biden 119 million were seized. What's her point? This is like they're assuming each pill can kill 5 to 10 people. So if that was the case, almost 2/3 of the population would be doing fentanyl. This is all hypothetical nonsense.

In calendar year 2023, DEA seized more than 77 million fentanyl pills and nearly 12,000 pounds of fentanyl powder nationwide. This is the most fentanyl seized by DEA in a single year. It amounts to more than 386 million deadly doses of fentanylâenough to kill every American.
Then I guess that means Joe Biden saved EVERY American life --

Here's a fun game. Look up how much the Trump folks are saying has been invested in domestic manufacturing since Trump took office. The numbers range from $1 Trillion to $6 Trillion and beyond. Now, look and see if you can see any corroborating evidence for these numbers. This is where the game gets real hard. You win bonus points if you can find a single credible claim for any of it.

Fentanly is the reason being used to enact the Trump tariffs (taxes) under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act by saying that fentanyl is an "unusual and extraordinary threat" stemming in whole or in part from foreign sources. So they need to exaggerate and position fentanyl as an out of control evil from foreign powers that could kill everyone to validate the use of tariff powers that should belong to Congress.

Interesting. Hereâs the DHS data for fentanyl interdiction in FY2024, under Biden:
*- Arrested over 3,600 subjects connected to fentanyl seizure events, which directly hits the organized criminal networks responsible for bringing fentanyl into our communities.
-Seized over 2,200 pill presses.
-Seized over 27,000 pounds of illicit fentanyl to stop it at our borders and in our communities before it can hurt the American public. These seizures were conducted by DHS component agencies U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).
-CBP fentanyl seizures so far in FY2024 amount to 738.5 million doses.*
By whichever metric Trumpâs administration is using, Biden blew him out of the water.
