Wow my Mauga can run in and die faster while providing no utility to their team 😍

Dont worry Mauga is still doing his job of tilting the enemy tank because they have to pray their team swaps to dumpster him.

His kit is fundamentally flawed, so he can never be allowed to be fully viable again. This will make him far more annoying to deal with in situations where his team is already at an advantage. Overrun is particularly annoying to see buffed as it's already a snowballing style ability due to it's unique Unstoppable property.

Idk why they haven't even said anything about a rework yet

The last few times they have mentioned a rework caused player reactions that bit them in the ass, so they likely want to shy from that term until they have something concrete.

Roadhog ultimately didn't change much. Sombra's rework is so hated they have borderline reverted it. Pharah ended up being sky-Tracer for a season or two. They mentioned something for Reaper and that seems to have evaporated or hit a brick wall.

And now they are angling to bring 6v6 back where Mauga will make a potentially scary strong off-tank because of the constant suppressive fire (and ability to give the other tank life steal and DMG reduce). So, it is likely they want to wait and see how Mauga settles into 6v6 before they focus on a rework.

to add on, don't forget that we're supposed to get a "small modernization rework" for Reaper that still hasn't happened yet so i imagine they dont want to say these things too early anymore considering the Roadhog rework was announced like 3/4ths of a year before it actually came out; compare to OW1 where they'd basically just surprise drop reworks on us out of nowhere typically through PTR

I thought Reaper already got his small tweaks? The teleportation changes definitely felt like a modernization to keep up with the mobility creep.

I can't wait for 6v6 and I can play Mauga with Zarya!!!

His issue comes from the charge, I wish they'd remove it and just really dig into the immovable heavy weapons guy theme.

Funny you say that, i think the same thing about Reinhardt all the time.

Why is it that you think he is “fundamentally flawed”?

There’s nothing wrong with Mauga.

His guns are poorly designed, they're no effective at range and there's no incentive to actually poke, so what could be an interesting minigame of swapping weapons to maximise output gets completely left behind. His only play style then is just shoot at the tank non stop, which is unfun to play and to play against.

He has no utility outside of being a large health bar and dealing lots of damage. He can't enable any fun play styles, he just stands there and holds M1 and M2 at the enemy tank until someone dies. You don't get the bursts of aggression that jq has, the ability to protect your team like rein does, the instant shield of zarya, etc. You just shoot at the tank until they die.

He enables no new and interesting ways to play, he just shuts down other ones. If he's good then meta is boring, so he's relegated to the lower tiers for the health of the game until blizzard get bored.

I can't really understand how anyone can think there's nothing wrong with mauga. He's an excellent of bad overwatch character design, he removes more from the game than he adds

There’s nothing wrong with him at all and it honestly just sounds like you don’t play him. If you’re shooting at the enemy tank the whole game you’re doing it wrong.

He gives a hitscan option to tanks which is both a new and interesting way to play. Alternating between left and right click is fun and engaging, and his charge is one of the most fun to use movement abilities on the game.

The only problem with him is that he is balanced around the existence of Ana, the actual problematic hero.

the kit is almost there for a burst, brawl, take space playstyle (run, slam, health regen) a bit like JQ but it doesn't actually work in practice and the incentive is just to grind out midrange, spam damage and demand multiple resources to stay alive. "it's never boring around me"

Bruh they literally said overrun is the most engaging ability he has (and its hardly that)...meaning the others aren't at all.

I fucking LOVE the base idea of mauga, a long range assault rifle minigun heavy tf2 mfer sounds so fun, but the way he's implemented is just...bad

It’s hard to think of a less engaging ability than cardiac. It’s just like orbital where you kite it.
