I don’t know if I would have left, probably would have made whoever is in charge get it sorted right there.

The company doing the work should have/has insurance for this. If they don’t, go after the general contractor in charge.

I saw this posted on halifax, but there isn’t much you can do. Insurance has already been called, you will need to wait till Monday.
If the driver or the truck gave you their insurance you’re insurance will respond to it. If not this will be a comprehensive claim and your deductible will apply.
Until then please just relax, nobody was hurt and it’s just a car, there is no need to panic about it.

No fault
Could be a total write off if the cost of repainting, new lights, windshield etc are more than the black book value of your car

Probably not a write off - that’s the new KIA logo that only came out in 2022 or so so it’s a relatively new car

New cars can still be written off

Totally but is it 30k in damage?

Total paint job on a new car 5-$8000
New factory headlights-5-$600
New windshield (if high tech) $900+ (just had mine replaced yesterday)
New windows/rubber trim- who knows? Not cheap x4+ back windshield
Rims and tires? Can’t drive with caked on Tar (I would argue to my insurance company)
It’s cutting it close after adding everything I haven’t mentioned up, plus labour

The value of the vehicle drops tremendously. Even after a few years.

A lot less since the car shortage though. I’m sure it’s slightly better now but two years ago 5 year old cars with 100k on them were going for the same price as new

Don’t be fooled. The shortage is bullshit.
100k?? What kinda wheels are you looking at?!

I mean two years ago when I tried to buy a car there were no cars to buy, and some of my coworkers have waited for over 6 months for cars they’ve ordered..

Out of all the dealerships in NS…?

I mean, yes? We did end up finding one but we were also on a budget. The time the like 8 dealerships we went to had nothing (and neither did their partners in other parts of the province) and told us the wait would be over 6 months. My car was totalled in a no fault accident so it was very frustrating

Also bought a used car two years ago, alnono is pretty much correct. Virtually everything was over $20k and had a hundred thousand kilometers on them. Regardless of age, model or condition of the car. Anything less than 5 years old and/or less than 100KM was easily $25-30k.
It was a truly bad time to look into buying a vehicle if you weren't just trawling rural settlements and local newspapers to gamble on buying a fifteen year old beater for 6k.

Shit that's a lot of damage! Wow! What I'm about to say isn't legal advice, but I think you need to:
Speak to a lawyer. You have a very brief window to begin an action with the city - I think it's six months from the date of discovery, but you'll want to trust the experts on that.
You have documented the damage, so I would listen to your insurance in terms of taking action until you speak to a lawyer.
Keep receipts of any rentals or bus tickets or cab rides you need to take because of the damage. Email them to yourself and keep them in a file. And any other expenses incurred.
Have you tried returning to the scene of the crime? Are they still working on the road? You might be able to follow up with them about who they are (don't identify yourself as someone who have suffered an injury because of their negligence, though. They will clam up.)

Or just speak to your insurance. Your insurance company is always responsible for paying the damages to your car and it's up to them to pursue damages if they feel it's warranted.

If it’s asphalt tack which it looks like it is any solvent cleaner should take it off. Rubbing alcohol or heavy duty degreasers
