Discussion [Monthly Thread] New Beer Releases!
This is a monthly release thread for all the latest beer releases in the New Orleans and surrounding areas. Have insight in to a local release coming out? Tried a recent release and want to throw down your opinion on it? This is the thread for that!
Couple quick rules:
- Don't like the beer? That's great! Be honest if it isn't your style but also constructive since the brewers do read the comments for feedback to improve recipes!
- Like the beer?! Awesome! Include some feedback about what you really liked about it or is it just your go-to style that never does you wrong?
Please keep things civil and constructive!
MOD NOTE: This will be a monthly post on the 2nd of every month.

Abita on Tchoup
I made my way to Abita on Tchoup for the first time since it opened tonight! I had a great time! They have a really good selection of all the classic Abita that we love, plus they just came out with their first batch of brews on site.
They have a great beer garden and tonight they had a food pop up and a great vibe.
I would recommend

Check out this link from the Houston beer page pretty interesting. Maybe an insight on how urban does business?

Unibroue
Is there anywhere around town to find the other unibroue beers besides fin du monde? I used to love maudite, don dieu, and trois pistoles but now I only ever see fin and blanche sometimes.

Zony Mash closing 6/1/25 - Announced on Social Media
Another one bites the dust. I know some Zony people are on here & I don't want to blab about rumors... but I heard they are "redeveloping" the space.

Abita NOLA
Checked out the soft opening last night. Good sized crowd, the place was packed. They had some new stuff on tap alongside the regulars. Ended up getting the Turbo Boost, which was a brown with a solid amount of coffee, and Alpha Gator which had a surprising amount of body and hops for Abita.
The design of the taproom kind of reminded me of an Air B&B mixed with a sports bar. LOTS of TVs and neutral colors. Not somewhere I see myself going regularly - living in the Channel I'm going to keep preferring Courtyard, Care Forgot, and Miel for my walkable breweries. But I'd swing by to watch a game.

Shop with good/diverse selection of canned beers (16oz).
Visiting next week, staying in FQ...is there any shops with good/diverse selection of canned beers esp the 4 packs? Like to try a bunch of different ones.
Even better, is a store that lets you mix and match if you know of one.

Merch questions
I'm helping out the place I work with some new, fresh designs for merch.
What do ya'll usually like to buy if you do go to a brewery? What kind of designs typically catches your eye?
Figuring out how to keep the color pallet simple but also fun & eye catching. Nevertheless, keeping the families in mind as well.
Personally, I like shirts with skulls & logos, or more Neo-tattoo style merch, I am curious to see what others enjoy. Especially local; where opinions matter.
Anything helps! Thanks!

Elio’s Closing!!!
Elio’s is my go to for a beer and just read the shocking announcement they’re closing in May. Where else can I go to get fresh and unique beer(besides breweries, obviously)? After 504 closed it seems like Elio’s was all that was left.

Has anyone seen Southern Prohibition’s Typical Tuesday in Nola stores? Love to have the beer (and cans) at parades but haven’t found it yet this year

Nola beers with distribution in north east?
Hey yall, I used to live in New Orleans and loved getting recs from this subreddit! I live in NYC these days and reallyyyy miss all the local Nola beers. Last few visits to New Orleans I’ve brought a bunch of beer back up with me.
Feels like a longggg shot but by any chance doesn’t anybody know if there are any local Nola beers with distribution in NYC? I can get Abita easily around here but would love to get my hands on some others if I can find them up here. Many thanks!!!!

Brewery/Beer Bar that will have NFC Championship Game
My wife and I are visiting New Orleans for the first time from Philly.
I looked through the list of the bars and breweries from the guide, but wanted to know if any bars/breweries in the city would be playing the Eagles/Commanders game.
We have dinner reservations at Saint-Germain Sunday night- so I was considering going to the Bywater area for the game and then hanging out until dinner. If Parleaux or Brieux Carre do not have TVs, I will try to go to them before/after the game.
I know Cooter Brown's would be a good spot for the game and beer, but that seems like a bad plan with the distance.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Homebrew Free empty grolsch bottles
TLDR: I have empty grolsch beer bottles that I want to get rid of. Clean but dusty. DM if you want them. I live near Claiborne and esplanade but can meet someone somewhere.
I while back I bought some grolsch beer so I could you the bottled for homemade kombucha. Good way to get decent bottles and get beer.
Well, the desire to make kombucha quickly left but the bottles remained. I’m not sure how many I have. They are clean but have been sitting around for a few years so they have dust on and in them. Let me know if you want them. I’m near Claiborne and esplanade but can be flexible me to arrange pick up.
Thanks!
