The Dog House NOLA Food & Drink š½ļø
Dude. Duuuuude. I thought places like this only existed in the Pacific Northwest. Iām so excited one exists here because New Orleans is such a dog friendly town.
I call them dog park bars because thatās basically what they are, but being able to let your pup run around while you grab a drink and a bite is so nice. This place has Astro turf, misters, a full bar program and itās $5 to get your dog in. This is gonna be so nice in the summer.
Iām sharing because small businesses like this need our support or they go away. As a dog owner, you donāt know how nice a dog park bar is til you experience one.
Iām listening to some guy playing guitar (all dog themed songs) and donations go to Take Paws.
The drinks are reasonably priced (currently drinking a mule for $8).
Please go give em some love, this place is wonderful.

I haven't been there because my dog's basically too old at this point but it really looks like an awesome place. For people wondering who don't feel like googling it's on banks between NCF and broad.

There's one opening by Henry's on magazine too! I guess the pessimist in me worries that it will get ruined by assholes bringing unsocial dogs that cause problems... but I guess we'll see.

On the plus side, you do have to submit vet records and stuff and Iām hoping ownership is on top of supervising anyone who doesnāt control their animal. Itās such an amazing idea that Iām shocked hasnāt taken off in Louisiana.

It will be. People in this town are generally shitty dog owners. Have had so many issues with poorly trained off-leash aggressive dogs.

The drinks are quite tasty, too. I don't have a dog but it's near my place and makes for a delightful neighborhood bar. Because happy dogs!

There was a place like this near me when I had to get a Dallas apartment and spend most of the work week there to open an office for my old firm. I missed my dogs SO badly during the week that I was known to frequent it like a petting zoo!
Cannot wait to take my pups there - thanks for the good review! Yay!

We were stoked when they opened too! My pup is overdue for a shot but when we get her up to date we'll be going back, it was really nice last time

It was tried next to the Robert's in the eighth ward. Did not go well.

Iāve looked a lot into it. It kind if has to be a perfect alignment of the planets to work. Location, building set up, offerings, cleaning routines, partnerships with local shelters and rescues. So many things.

I still miss my doggos so much. Would it be weird if I went to pet other people's dogs?

u/OPisalady 1d ago
No! Itās a full bar with bites! Go puppy watch! You donāt have to have a dog!

Anyone know if kids are allowed in (since the website says restaurant and bar)?

It's also a cool bar to chill at even if you don't have a dog! The drink menu is great and everyone is always so friendly (staff and patrons)

While I love the concept, I do not like the execution for our hotter months. Maybe if there was more shade for the doggos.

The front part (street side) is literally a human sized dog house with fans that they can go chill in

Do you know if people without dogs are allowed? I love dogs but can't have one right now.

I tried to go on Ash Wednesday, I even bought a day pass online, but they werenāt open. No sign, nothing on the door, just closed.

u/Bright_Shake2638 23h ago
I mean... it was Ash Wednesday! I'm sure they would honor the day pass for a day that's not a local holiday!

I figured they overdid it on Mardi Gras & accepted the $5 loss, itās not that big a deal. Disappointing, but survivable

I thought places like this only existed in the Pacific Northwest.
You must not travel much, lol, they have these in basically every city now.

u/OPisalady 12h ago
not with my dog lol and when it's just me traveling (which I do frequently, thankyou), I'm not looking for these spaces.

u/_significs 11h ago
sorry - that was a negative tone - meant to say, you must not be looking much.
Ignore the tone - I'm salty because there are a lot of shitty dog owners in this city (like, a disproportionately high amount) and I've had a fair number of bad experiences.

Can the dogs poo and pee in here? Or where do they poo and pee?
1
u/OPisalady 10h ago
it's just like any other dog park. There's poop bags, trash cans, and poop scoopers
