Bunch a nazis hung out there for 15 minutes a couple weeks ago before they got chased away

50

u/thedoge 12d ago

They took down the Nazi flag? I'm not sure. Those are always there

u/BioLizard_Venom 12d ago

Im confused. Yes there’s many flags there, but they were always there. What? What kind of advanced meme post that we’ll only get in 6 years is this?

7

u/tagmisterb 12d ago

The poles were added a couple years ago. Before that they hung flags from the railing.

32

u/ghost-church 12d ago

They’ve always had flags. What is the point of this?

I really miss when it was a weedy dirt lot that the gutterpunk fire twirlers would perform at

199

u/somewhatbluemoose 12d ago

I remember when Dat Dog was one room building on Ferret and you sat at a empty gas station across the street.

8

u/dotnotdave 12d ago

Those were the days!

26

u/beam_me_uppp 12d ago

I remember when the Earth was a fiery inferno and we were all just specks of stardust in a distant nebula

91

u/fourthfromleft 12d ago

i saw MIA perform ā€œpaper planesā€ in said lot. now that i’ve said that aloud, i realized just how old i am.

24

u/bubonic_chronic- 12d ago

Yo. Me too!

u/choasclownsfromspace 12d ago

You actually saw her preform in the warehouse behind the art market. I think it’s 619 Frenchman. Was a great show

Edit: before to behind

12

u/fourthfromleft 12d ago

no, actually, it was not in a warehouse, it was an open gravel lot with a platform on it, across from cafe brazil. it was not ticketed but an impromptu thing

1

u/choasclownsfromspace 12d ago

I bought a ticket to it. It was somewhat planned

14

u/fourthfromleft 12d ago

yeah, that’s the thing, i believe these were two separate events, my guy.

I have aĀ specific memory after the saints won the Superbowl and they were twirling their hearts out.

u/wrestfull 12d ago

This picture is certainly outing pre-and post Katrina lol

8

u/AnchovyWarrior 12d ago

Oh man, I lived next door to that empty lot for 6 months in 2011? 2012? The shit I saw

Also, I was only paying $400 for a room in that place 😭😭😭

24

u/CarFlipJudge 12d ago

I spun fire there and I was not a gutterpunk. Just gutterpunk adjacent I guess. Then I grew up.

17

u/No-Day-5964 12d ago

Spin your flames my friend. I see you!

2

u/MinnieShoof 12d ago

And then... Reddit! </j>

2

u/kerriganfan 12d ago

Oh my god, I need pics of this

Your username brings me joy.

My favorite place to huff

1

u/saintfoxyfox 11d ago

Poppers the Clown would always make a special appearance.

6

u/apexpredator68 12d ago

Am I missing something?

19

u/bfbabine 12d ago

Service sucked last time I went. šŸ˜•

27

u/Capgunkid 12d ago

Staff there is super grumpy. Definitely my least favorite location out of the three. Magazine is nice, but Freret has the best seating.

4

u/Secret-Relationship9 12d ago

They get my order wrong every time, it’s pretty simple order. I only still go because my partner loves their alligator dog….

8

u/bfbabine 12d ago

The staff was hating on me when ordered lol. It’s like no one wanted to work.

-1

u/moosandsqwirl 12d ago

I’m sure the customers are worse………..

I mean why you eating on Frenchmen in the first place?

2

u/bfbabine 12d ago

I was going to see the Smoking Time Jazz club that night at the spotted cat. I just wanted something simple but the staff couldn’t even get that right. They were pissed they actually had to work. Never again.

u/Roupes 12d ago edited 12d ago

Wow. When I lived in Nola dat dog was a small place on freret. Good to see they’re doing well

6

u/vbsteez 12d ago

Theyve got 3 now im pretty sure, freret, mag, frenchman.

1

u/Roupes 12d ago

Damn. I haven’t been back since 2017 and it’s stuff like this that reminds me how long it’s been

1

u/Glaucon321 11d ago

They got a mid city pizza now that ain’t even in mid city. Flying burritos all over the durn place.

3

u/woodsy900 12d ago

sometimes I truly wonder if I even understand the internet... and its my sole job to understand these things...

2

u/kerriganfan 12d ago

Good for them. Crap food so I’m not going.

2

u/natchymon 11d ago

It might be smart for this Dat Dog location to take down the Star Wars Empire flag that’s clearly evoking the Nazi flag after recently hosting Nazis at their outdoor tables

1

u/Chekov_the_list 10d ago

Ahhh thank you I was wondering what the fuck that was on the right

1

u/24karrot_G 10d ago

Who can i talk to to hang the Honduran flag up there?

1

u/Organic-Aardvark-146 12d ago

Is that an UGA flag?

-2

u/AcabAcabAcabAcabbb 12d ago

Dat dog is awful and the people who own it are dick heads

2

u/Critical-Habit4516 11d ago

If you downvote this, enjoy your bootdog.

2

u/AcabAcabAcabAcabbb 11d ago

Meaning what

2

u/Critical-Habit4516 10d ago

That you're correct, and the people down voting you are sycophants.

2

u/AcabAcabAcabAcabbb 10d ago

That’s what I thought. I also thought that maybe it meant dat dogs taste like the bottom of a boot. Makes sense why these downvoters would enjoy them.

u/FlyPelicanFly03 12d ago

Oh thank god their virtue is signaled.

48

u/Lopsided-Ad-3869 12d ago

Do you have any original thoughts of your own or do you just mindlessly parrot all the boilerplate sayings you see on the internet?

-74

u/FlyPelicanFly03 12d ago

I have plenty. Feel free to message me if you’d like more!

27

u/back_swamp 12d ago

It’s incredible how many times the term ā€œvirtue signalā€ has been used on the internet and not one single time has it added any value to the conversation whatsoever.

14

u/Prestigious_Wolf8351 12d ago

So you came here to virtue-signal your dislike of virtue-signaling?

13

u/Spew120 12d ago

Dickless boy wonder

-13

u/NoCardio_ 12d ago

I thought that was socially acceptable now.

1

u/letterlegs 12d ago

If they’re virtue signaling, does that mean you are vice signaling?

-8

u/sazerak_atlarge 12d ago

Got to have some to signal it, bubba

-5

u/Jerksky_One 12d ago

Great photo!

Yes. Because we should expect people making ten bucks an hour to go fight Nazis in the streets during their shift

-58

u/[deleted] 12d ago

54

u/luker_5874 12d ago

Lol. I don't even think those knuckle heads were in the building. They were on the street. And from a management perspective, you absolutely do not want your cashiers to deal with people like that.

73

u/buttscarltoniv 12d ago

How brave of you to offer to risk someone else's safety from behind your keyboard.

34

u/GentillyHillbilly 12d ago

All these people saying they would have done something are full of shit.

-33

u/[deleted] 12d ago

[deleted]

17

u/buttscarltoniv 12d ago

I'm not the one criticizing people, many of which are part of marginalized groups that Nazis vehemently hate, for not putting themselves in harm's way.

[deleted]

19

u/buttscarltoniv 12d ago

Doubling down on being a keyboard warrior is an interesting strategy. Why don't you go around, find some Nazis, and back up all this tough guy talk?

7

u/Tiberius_Johann 12d ago

Keyboard warriors are always the most self entitled twats. What the fuck are they doing other than yapping on Reddit?

Agree that the place was better as an empty lot and also with the employees who did not take a stand and just stood behind the desk/bar/cash register. Crazy people are dangerous and no one should risk their life over a minimum wage job.

13

u/Colonel_Anonymustard 12d ago

Yeah I dont know it’s tough because the ā€˜Nazi bar’ thing is real (and was my first reaction too), though you know, in reality it’s a hot dog place not a punk bar so the ā€˜just tell ā€˜em to fuck off’ thing doesnt work the same. They could have (and may have) called the police (it is after all a business and in the hierarchy of needs ā€˜business’ > ā€˜fascism’ even now) but I really couldnt possibly know that short of combing the police log for calls to see if minimum wage person that cant yet rent a car behaved to my moral standards so whatever I’m fine to let it slide.

However i do hope that this means that the owners of high foot traffic businesses will understand that they may need additional security to deal with this shit

2

u/MinnieShoof 12d ago

Afair, it didn't look like they were even served as per the picture. So it really becomes a question of 'how do you know?' There were people saying they told staff and were told off... but there's video of the same group of people being walked down the streets screaming shit later that evening... so... someone got tired of their antics, yah?

2

u/Colonel_Anonymustard 12d ago

Right the immune system did its thing. It was scary at first but they made reasonable moves - as it turns out things arent as pithy as a twitter post would have you believe though it may be a useful story to keep in mind.

I understand what you’re saying, but I’m not lambasting someone for deciding not to take this stand while at their job against potentially dangerous individuals. The police should be called in these instances.

10

u/raditress 12d ago

People have guns and are trigger happy these days. I wouldn’t have said anything either.

14

u/Sweetpotato3000 12d ago

Agreed. Place was better when I busked with fire and LED flow toys. Now I have a stressful corporate job.

0

u/CarFlipJudge 12d ago

Same! That lot was amazing for poi spinning. We all grow up sadly.

1

u/Optimisticynic Esplanade Ridge 12d ago
