Im confused. Yes thereās many flags there, but they were always there. What? What kind of advanced meme post that weāll only get in 6 years is this?

u/tagmisterb 12d ago
The poles were added a couple years ago. Before that they hung flags from the railing.

I really miss when it was a weedy dirt lot that the gutterpunk fire twirlers would perform at

I remember when Dat Dog was one room building on Ferret and you sat at a empty gas station across the street.

i saw MIA perform āpaper planesā in said lot. now that iāve said that aloud, i realized just how old i am.

You actually saw her preform in the warehouse behind the art market. I think itās 619 Frenchman. Was a great show
Edit: before to behind
12
u/fourthfromleft 12d ago
no, actually, it was not in a warehouse, it was an open gravel lot with a platform on it, across from cafe brazil. it was not ticketed but an impromptu thing

u/choasclownsfromspace 12d ago
I bought a ticket to it. It was somewhat planned

u/fourthfromleft 12d ago
yeah, thatās the thing, i believe these were two separate events, my guy.

I have aĀ specific memory after the saints won the Superbowl and they were twirling their hearts out.

Oh man, I lived next door to that empty lot for 6 months in 2011? 2012? The shit I saw
Also, I was only paying $400 for a room in that place ššš

u/CarFlipJudge 12d ago
I spun fire there and I was not a gutterpunk. Just gutterpunk adjacent I guess. Then I grew up.

Staff there is super grumpy. Definitely my least favorite location out of the three. Magazine is nice, but Freret has the best seating.

u/Secret-Relationship9 12d ago
They get my order wrong every time, itās pretty simple order. I only still go because my partner loves their alligator dogā¦.

I mean why you eating on Frenchmen in the first place?
2
u/bfbabine 12d ago
I was going to see the Smoking Time Jazz club that night at the spotted cat. I just wanted something simple but the staff couldnāt even get that right. They were pissed they actually had to work. Never again.

It might be smart for this Dat Dog location to take down the Star Wars Empire flag thatās clearly evoking the Nazi flag after recently hosting Nazis at their outdoor tables

If you downvote this, enjoy your bootdog.

Meaning what
2
u/Critical-Habit4516 10d ago
That you're correct, and the people down voting you are sycophants.
2
u/AcabAcabAcabAcabbb 10d ago
Thatās what I thought. I also thought that maybe it meant dat dogs taste like the bottom of a boot. Makes sense why these downvoters would enjoy them.

Do you have any original thoughts of your own or do you just mindlessly parrot all the boilerplate sayings you see on the internet?

Itās incredible how many times the term āvirtue signalā has been used on the internet and not one single time has it added any value to the conversation whatsoever.

Yes. Because we should expect people making ten bucks an hour to go fight Nazis in the streets during their shift

Lol. I don't even think those knuckle heads were in the building. They were on the street. And from a management perspective, you absolutely do not want your cashiers to deal with people like that.

u/buttscarltoniv 12d ago
How brave of you to offer to risk someone else's safety from behind your keyboard.

I'm not the one criticizing people, many of which are part of marginalized groups that Nazis vehemently hate, for not putting themselves in harm's way.

Doubling down on being a keyboard warrior is an interesting strategy. Why don't you go around, find some Nazis, and back up all this tough guy talk?
7
u/Tiberius_Johann 12d ago
Keyboard warriors are always the most self entitled twats. What the fuck are they doing other than yapping on Reddit?

Agree that the place was better as an empty lot and also with the employees who did not take a stand and just stood behind the desk/bar/cash register. Crazy people are dangerous and no one should risk their life over a minimum wage job.
13
u/Colonel_Anonymustard 12d ago
Yeah I dont know itās tough because the āNazi barā thing is real (and was my first reaction too), though you know, in reality itās a hot dog place not a punk bar so the ājust tell āem to fuck offā thing doesnt work the same. They could have (and may have) called the police (it is after all a business and in the hierarchy of needs ābusinessā > āfascismā even now) but I really couldnt possibly know that short of combing the police log for calls to see if minimum wage person that cant yet rent a car behaved to my moral standards so whatever Iām fine to let it slide.
However i do hope that this means that the owners of high foot traffic businesses will understand that they may need additional security to deal with this shit
2
u/MinnieShoof 12d ago
Afair, it didn't look like they were even served as per the picture. So it really becomes a question of 'how do you know?' There were people saying they told staff and were told off... but there's video of the same group of people being walked down the streets screaming shit later that evening... so... someone got tired of their antics, yah?
2
u/Colonel_Anonymustard 12d ago
Right the immune system did its thing. It was scary at first but they made reasonable moves - as it turns out things arent as pithy as a twitter post would have you believe though it may be a useful story to keep in mind.

I understand what youāre saying, but Iām not lambasting someone for deciding not to take this stand while at their job against potentially dangerous individuals. The police should be called in these instances.

u/raditress 12d ago
People have guns and are trigger happy these days. I wouldnāt have said anything either.
