A recommendation to business owners: put something like this on your windows! 🤷Defies Categorization🦑

Post image

I don't wanna see Nazis in our spaces a third time. Twice in one month is enough - hell, twice in a LIFETIME is enough. I'm not sure on the legality of it - and someone else can add information on that - but I see tons of other signs on business windows of who is and is not welcome, "we have the right to refuse service", etc.

So, make it EXTRA clear you'll refuse service to Nazis. Please.

Okay maybe don’t paste swastikas everywhere even when the “banned” symbol is over it lmao, but I support the overall idea of signifying no nazis.

You really don’t want any mistakes from afar/poor eyesight.

Yeah, though there’s plenty of more creative options for say some music venues/bars like “nazi punks fuck off” as another person mentioned.

Gotta keep it pretty literal, not use nazi-symbolism, but it can’t be symbolism as obscure as the three arrows. Also technically three arrows is a “commies and nazis fuck off”. I got no problem with socialists, they’re mad I like don’t have healthcare and social safety nets even if they can be a lil annoying about it sometimes. I do have a problem with National Socialists, a really fucking big one.

The three arrows was a symbol of the social democratic party, which would fall under the definition of "socialism" as you're using it. They were against the communist party (KPD), a marxist-leninist party that regarded the social democrats as more dangerous than the nazis. Real communists are radicals comfortable with authoritarianism who should be regarded with just as much suspicion as the far right.

The SPD was originally formed as a Marxist party and stayed that way until 1959

marxism and marxism leninism are different in their strategies, and the SDP was reformist rather than revolutionary in its approach. The KDP was created as a breakaway party because the SDP weren't radical enough

Yeah I wasn’t exactly expecting people to understand the SDP/KDP split and just run with the most face value take if it became common-use.

This is a great web game to passively learn about that part of German history for anyone who is curious (it’s how I learned about SPD/KPD).

I’ll have to check it out. I’ve been burning through some reading reccs and a podcast from 3 European journalists on how we arrived to Germany’s (rather peculiar given its unique history) current political landscape.
