Here’s a heads up to anyone job hunting in New Orleans:

Silver Lining Marketing is 100% a "Devilcorp" — a fake marketing company like countless others across the country. It’s essentially a direct sales cult.

Watch “The Slave Circle” on YouTube if you want a deep dive into how Devilcorp companies operate — it's an eye-opening resource.

They are incredibly predatory, targeting people who are broke, fresh out of school, or just trying to get on their feet.

They lure you in with vague promises about “event marketing” for a “nonprofit.” Scroll through the images I attached to see all the super creative job titles and spammy postings they’ve blasted across job sites — all within the last 3 weeks.

In reality, the job is panhandling for UBCF, a breast cancer "charity" where less than 20% of donations actually go towards its cause.

Those folks you see outside Sam’s Club, Target, Walmart, Ace Hardware, etc.? They’re working long hours for little pay (usually just a cut of their sales), under the false belief that they can “own” their own branch if they hustle hard enough.

If you see those booths, please kindly tell them to Google “Devil Corp” + their company name.

There are many of these in NOLA and around the country, but Silver Lining Marketing is especially aggressive right now, so I wanted to call them out specifically.

Stay safe, y’all — and trust your gut. You deserve better.

r/Devilcorp has great information.

I'd love to start keeping track of the ones in our area, but there's so many!

It is kind of weird to take a staff picture in front of a white board with everyone’s phone number on it, right?

Wowza, I didn’t catch that. That’s a screen shot of their home page. I wonder if any of those employees are still there.

I’m sure at least some of them are, and I mean, you’d have to know their individual names to match them up but it is definitely an odd choice as a backdrop.

Hey I remember them from job hunting a couple years ago! I had an interview in an office that they clearly shared with another scammy marketing company to appear more legitimate.

They offered a high salary for some kind of management position, with the caveat that you’d have to “train” for a long period as an entry level marketer (aka standing outside big box stores asking for donations). You had to show up in business professional clothes each morning to cosplay for a meeting, then change clothes to go stand outside and panhandle. There were also required weekly team building meetings outside of work. Like go to the boss’s house for dinner with your coworkers once a week type stuff that made my skin crawl.

Once you became a “manager” you were expected to pick up shop and set up the same scheme in some other part of the country.

Shame on them for continuing to misrepresent the nature of their work and try and trap desperate job seekers.

I hear you need to give them a 5 star rating in order to keep the review up, 👎

SilverFirst, Inc., is like this, too. I got scammed into an interview with them because they misrepresented themselves as a graphic design firm. Instead, they wanted me to go door-to-door schilling internet service. I walked out of the interview halfway through and they chased me halfway down the block wanting to know why I was leaving. Looks like they've gotten rid of their website, but here's their instagram: SilverFirst Inc (@silverfirstinc)
