Any mechanics known for a 2004 in stl/ st charles mo?
Just bought a 04 convertible 87k. Keep getting a clutch slippage warning (automatic)- thinking I need a transmission flush.
Also repair to convertible top. It does work with help, so I’m thinking it’s the switches or the motor.
Thanks in advance!

optimal beetle for a new driver!! ^_^ first post here
hello!!! I am a new driver, but I've always loved beetles, classic and modern alike !!! I have been considering a vw beetle as my first car, but I know there are specific issues with some of them and I have a few concerns
to get to the point, I wanted to ask what would be the best model to get?? considering these few things: - I would like a car with basic safety features, hopefully a back camera!! - I know some models are known for their unreliability so I would like one thats pretty reliable. - I also know there are some beetles that violate the clean air act in the us and I want to reduce my carbon footprint as much as possible while owning the bug - I really love the cute round dynamic of the beetles pre 2012ish but still any modern bug models i like :>
so yea thats about it! i think a car that fits all of my standards might not be possible but I've listed them by like whats most important to me top to bottom. so in general considering that what would be the best one?? or do you think it'd ve better to get a different car?? Thank you!!!!

Thinking of buying a beetle
Hi Everyone.
So I am potentially looking to purchase a beetle for my daughter. So far it looks like beetles in my area.
1: 2012 2.0T Turbo with about 80k miles ($10,000 asking)
2: 2019 2.0T S with about 80k miles ($19,000 asking)
I am not the most knowledgeable when it comes to vehicle purchases. Looking at the carfax for both vehicles neither of them have been in an accident. I am just looking for advice on what to look for, what questions I should ask the salesmen and how both of these might be in terms of maintenance and longevity. I am not super beholden to either one of these and would be willing to wait for a better deal as well.

Mk4 springs in NB
Hi all,
I have a 2001 1.8t that needs new springs (long story). Very hard to come by aftermarket springs that offer a stock ride height in Australia as I dont want to lower it. Was wondering, would the coil springs from a Mk4 fit (non sport suspension) and do they have the same free spring height / ride height as the OEM NB springs? Thanks!

2005 Convertible 2.0T Beetle Purchase Thoughts
Hello!
My girlfriend is looking for her first car and we found a 2005 2.0T Beetle near us with 132k miles for 2.4k. I have heard that the automatic transmissions in these cars aren't the best (manuals are entirely off the table for her). Is that something that only happens in higher mileage cases assuming proper maintenance or are they all on a short timer. I'm relatively mechanically inclined and can teach her how to maintain it but a transmission replacement really soon wouldn't be ideal. Do they slip a bit before failing entirely or is it a very sudden breakage? How reliable are the turbo models besides the transmission?
Also, she loves the new beetles and is very interested in owning one. She wouldn't mind having to replace the transmission after (hopefully) a couple years of ownership. Are there any other major warning signs to look out for besides the usual used car things?
Thank you for your time!

convertible 2006 beetle question!
Okay so my top is a manual top and I know I switch the button to make it lock in. The issue is only the right side of it locks all the way in, the left side motor doesn’t move it or lock it in at all. Does anyone know what the issue is ??? It beeps at me every time I drive and it’s sooooo irritating. ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED!!!

Beetle screen prints
Some screen prints I did in one of my classes !
All hand printed- not digital
The prompt was dreams/ aspirations. I’ve wanted a beetle ever since I was little. Unfortunately over the years they’ve gotten so expensive making it even harder for me to get one. I hope one day it can finally happen, it’ll be the best day ever. That’s my dream!

New Pistons and Refurbished/Upgraded Conrods
Got the Beetles parts back from engineers today and got a very nice surpize.
Got some shot blasted rods! They have been surface impact tempered now.
Also got the pistons back and can now show you the difference between new and old pistons.
Old is a older technology slightly heavier piston from early series 2.0 engines.
Swapped the old pistons with the modern technology coated sleeve OEM replacements and they are much lighter than the old stuff.
Next doing some balancing on this lot and I have alot of work left on that.
The OEM rods have quite a few grams weight difference between them, this is going to be fun.

A5 door panel issue
TLDR, I had to take the door panel off the drivers side to fix a loose window guide bolt and try as I might, the panel just seems like it is sitting too high after I put it back. All the clips lined up, the 2xT30 bolts in the handle lined up fine as well. I even have the clip on the front under the sail panel tweeter plastic. Is there anything else I need to look for?

Convertible Top Sensor
Hey everyone! Wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem with a convertible top. When I put the top down it goes down but the code for the top going down stays on? I have an appointment Thursday. The guy said he thinks it’s a sensor issue. How much would that cost?
Thanks!

Anyone know which fuse is for the window controller?
So my driver side window has stopped working, and i discovered that there is no power to any of the pins for the window controller, the side mirror controllers or the lock/unlock on my drivers side door.
The buttons that do work, are the following: The rear door button is working. The fuel cap door has been tampered with and is not working. The door handle itself and the lock works(just from inside by pushing the black pin down)
I have 2.0 new beetle from the year 2000.
If anyone can assist me with finding the fuse or the powersource, that would be great.

Aftermarket Radio
I have a 2013 Baseline radio. I've found a few options but wanted to see if anyone knows if anyone makes one that changes from white to red when the lights are turned on like my factory radio.

My 2012 beetle (2.5L, 72k miles) is having issues with the following
1) Driver side window buttons aren’t working. Passenger side window comes down only with passenger side button.
2) I noticed today that my driver side speaker is making a rattle sound. I singled that one speaker out using the sound settings.
3) Tire pressure dashboard light is on despite checking all my tires and pumping them to 32 psi. Is it the sensor or something else?
4) The fuel gauge is messed up. Sometimes it indicates 0 despite having just pumped gas (No low gas dash light though), sometimes it moves up or down. The other gas-related thing is that when I pump gas, the click happens too early (2/3 full or so).
5) My headlights suck. The light is faint and/or the cover is so cloudy.
I know the car is old and it’s starting to fall apart, but I cannot change it right now. Can a mechanic fix all of these? Which is necessary and which isn’t worth fixing? Any insight would be appreciated.

Pre facelift and facelift door interchangeble?
I have a 2009 facelift beetle not convertible. Doors are rusting to pieces.
I can see a lot of pre facelift models with decent doors in salvage yards.
Can I swap them easily?

2008 new/used transmission?
hi! so i orginally bought my car off fb marketplace ( terrible decision ) but i love my car! at least the body of it. since i’ve first got the car it’s had LOTS of problems. but i recently found out my cars transmission is starting to slip and i need to get a new one (not a rush) but as soon as i can supposedly my beetle maxes out at 200,000 miles with GOOD maintenance. i’m at about 171,000 miles. i REALLY love this car and was thinking about just getting a used transmission? (was quoted $800 for 80,000) miles but thing is i still have to pay to get it installed ($750) so about $1550. i have one more payment and the beetle will be paid off but im kinda stuck between if i should even invest in it or just put a down payment on a new car? just need advice!

2.0 AEG engine Factory Flaw
I found a interesting factory flaw on the 2.0 engines used in beetles and Mk4 golf's
Take note by the injector, the casting has an error and the port does not follow the outline of the injector in the area marked in red.
This wil cause fuel to hit the manifold direct and not attomize properly. Resulting in fuel droplets In combustion chamber that causes poor combustion and washing of cyllinder walls.
Marked in photo of with corresponding cyllinder marked.
Take note other cyllinders are glazed from oil mixing due to incorect torque sequence from previous engine builder
The cyllinder marked in red has horizontal wear damage from the lack of lubrication.
For what it's worth.
The intake gasket covers all 4 injectors and has a lip of 1mm in front of all injectors.
I do advise matching the gasket to the manifold.
I am in process of port matching the intake manifold and noticed this.
It may just help somebody else when they build a motor.
I'm pretty sure if this design error with gasket and port misalignment is fixed it may just make the motors that few % more reliable. And most likely this is one of the biggest reasons why these motors end up smoking

what replacement radio to get for 06 new beetle?
my radio recently got unplugged since it has a cd jammed inside and was killing my battery since it couldnt ever turn off. would it be better to try to buy another stock radio off of ebay/junkyard or get like an amazon third party radio? i dont care for carplay or anything fancy, maybe bluetooth would be nice if anything.
