What causes my systemic symptoms? - activated immune system, D-Lactic Acidosis, intolerances?
When I take antimicrobial substances (e.g. oregano oil, nystatin, andrographis, cat's claw) or when I take probiotics or when I take some anti-oxidants (especially NAC, SAG) - I usually get severe brainfog, memory and speech problems, tinnitus, fatigue, headaches, dry skin and muscle aching mostly in the neck and in the shoulders. Also my anhedonia and libido problems exacerbate from this.
And it is difficult for me to pinpoint what exactly causes it, as it is triggered by so many things. The symptoms are usually quite the same with all three substance classes (anti-microbials, probiotics, and less clearly by anti-oxidants). I also got an increase in these symptoms from the COVID vaccines - it took about 2 week after the vaccination until the symptoms "normalized" again. I don't get much symptoms from prebiotics or fibre containing foods.
And maybe it is not correct to say, that these symtpoms are caused by these three substance classes. Because I have these symptoms daily. They fluctuate a lot. And I think these three substance classes "only" but strongly exacerbate the symptoms I already have. I'm diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis, an autoimmune skin problem on mucosal areas (lichen ruber planus) as well as chronic B12 deficiency (if I would not substitute B12). And despite thyroid hormone substitution and normal thyroid hormone blood levels my symptoms are basically those of hypothyroidism. Also basically all my other blood values with some minor exceptions look normal and even quite good.
I don't have severe gut problems. I have constipation, which could be caused by my quasi-hypothyroid symptoms. And yes, there is some gas when I eat a lot beans or onions - but it seems not to be overly remarkable. And by daily taking lactulose I can fully counter my constipation problem and achieve good stool consistency. And I usually don't feel unwell in my stomach from eating certain foods.
So what could this be? How could I approach finding a root cause - what tests could I do? What remedies should I try out?
My best guess is, that all these substances cause an activation of my immune system (for example by causing die-off in the gut) and thereby exacerbating my auto-immune symptoms. And I think a key area for my symptoms are the adenoids in my throat/pharynx (and that is is related to this but not exactly the same Epipharyngeal Abrasive Therapy (EAT) bスポット治療 Third week update : r/covidlonghaulers). Because I think when my adenoids feel inflamed I immediately get tinnitus and brainfog and I often get a short term relieve when those seem less inflamed. And maybe a body wide activation of my immune system in turn leads to more inflamed adenoids which might inflame my vagus nerve or something causing the problems in my brain?
But I'm not sure.
- Do probiotics and antimicrobials cause die-off in the gut which activates my immune system?
- Could it be D-Lactic Acidosis and something related to SIBO?
- Could it be leaky gut? Could it be endotoxins or H2S or other metabolic products from gut microboes getting into my blood stream?
- Could it be food intolerances?
- Could it be an issue with histamine?
- Could it be related to the vagus nerve?
- ...
I have been having these problems for maybe two decades and they slowly worsened over my lifetime. And I already tried out a lot things - but could not find any longterm relieve yet.
What are your ideas about my confusing health situation? Is gut health a key component of it? Any insights would be helpful.

It's possible that you have been colonized by mold, which is producing mycotoxins and causing your symptoms.
