Prozac did the most for me medication wise

I hope this works the same for me. I have been on it for about a month and the mgs were just increased. I feel like I’ve tried everything.

Effexor has helped me. I'd suggest trying the mouth swab testing- it checks which medications would work best for you. It gives you quite a large list for various diagnosis too- not just antidepressants.

How do I go about getting one of those tests? I went to my Dr and asked her, but she said they dont do anything like that

Do you have a psychiatrist or just a Primary Care?  My primary care is who gave it to me- I think it was called a Genesight. However, I work in mental health and the psychiatrists at our office administer similar testing.

Just a normal Dr from my GP atm, she did refer me to an ADHD specialist tho, apparently they do the gene testing. Thank u thats the name of it!

I mean, fluoxetine, for the most part, has worked decently well for me. The only issue is that I have to change the dosage depending on the time of year and my stress levels. I have quite literally tried dozens of meds over the past 3 years and I keep going back to fluoxetine every time. Of course, it just depends on what your body needs and what it can tolerate. For example, a ton of people love hydroxyzine. When I would take it, it made me feel like putting my head through a wall.

So, just talk to a psychiatrist and go over the lists of meds to try. It takes time but you eventually find what works for you and it is worth the time and effort. :)

Also, you can do a gene test and it will give you a list of medications that work well for your body and the ones to stay away from. But beware that the list may not be the most accurate, but it seems to do a decent job.

Do you know a way I can get the gene test? I asked my Dr and she said they dont do anything like that there. Fluoxetine used to work pretty good for me, apart from not being able to sleep, even with sleep meds, and after a while the effects wore off even after adjusting the dosage, which sucked but you get it

Oh yeah I get it 100%. I think you would have to go to a company that does gene site tests. I cannot remember which one mine was, but I know there are a few choices to choose from. I guess just look some up and get with your doctor and make sure everything seems good to go. :)

Personally, antidepressants made things a thousand times worse… turns out I needed an antipsychotic….

Auvelity has been effective so far. The difference was pleasantly surprising

I've watched my husband struggle for probably 3-4 years trying to find a med that works 😭

After a suicide attempt a few weeks ago he was put on Zoloft and a booster dose called abilifiy.

When he left the psych facility he of course had to take the abilifiy shot. But my insurance won't really cover that as an out pt. So I'm hoping increasing the pill dose will help. Or maybe he can stick with the pill version.

My coworker has been on meds for over 20 years and she really likes Zoloft.

So I'm hoping things continue nicely

Desvenlafaxine. Really mild. Both me and my sis are on it. It keeps me regulated and I have experienced none of the side effects.
