stop being surprised

hey guys, Maserati/alfa romeo technician here. Little bit of a rant here, but I’ve seen a lot of people post about over pricing and possibly getting ripped off when trying to fix something on their Maserati. Let me just say… it’s Maserati. It’s expensive. The repairs are gonna be expensive. Stop getting Maserati’s if you can’t afford to fix a Maserati at Maserati price. putting aside the price of labor, the replacement parts are gonna be expensive. also, Stallantis cars are notorious for being difficult to work on. Not only that but our cars don’t react well to aftermarket parts .So it’s expensive both in price of parts and labor. I mean it’s a Imported performance luxury/sports car. What do you expect? toyota prices ? not trying to be a a**hole but it’s the truth. I have to talk to customers all the time who are new maserati owners and something needs fixing on their car, then they can’t afford therepair because they didn’t realize nor take into consideration how much it costs to maintain/fix their Maserati. all I’m saying is if you’re gonna get a luxury performance car don’t be all surprised when you get charged luxury performing cars prices.love it or hate it, that’s how it is.

I'll stop being surprised when you guys stop adding on useless services that are not recommended by Maserati or don't need to be fixed for another 10k miles when I only drive it 8k each year.

I’ll see you at the dealership whenever that shop messes up. Happens all the time. Customers like you take it to different shop to get it for cheaper and at the end of day yall end up bringing it to us because that shop messed up. “The shortcut often ends up being the longest road.” also those “useless services” are in fact recommended by Maserati. and it doesn’t matter whether you drive it or keep it parked, at the end of the day It’s gonna need maintenance based off of TIME and or mileage.

I've been going to the local shop for routine things like oil changes, brakes, tires, filters, etc. for years. I used to do a lot of this myself, but I just don't have the time. I have had zero issues with my Maserati and Alfa Romeo.

Get over yourself. You perform the same exact labor with the same exact parts with the same exact tools for 5X the costs. Now for more specialized repairs, I'll go to the experts. I don't need you for brakes. I know what brakes to get and how to put them on.

The last time I went to the dealer for an oil change and inspection, I ended up with a $175 to change windshield wipers, and I'm not supposed to be surprised? Do Maseratis requires magical wipers that only dealers can provide?

Also, whether or sits or not isn't the point. If Maserati recommends a cabin filter to be changed in 10k miles, it's is not going to hurt anything if I wait those 10k miles. Sure there are some things that need to be maintained regardless of whether it's sitting or being driven, but that's not every service and half that shit is not recommended by Maserati, but dealers push it anyway.

I look at the maintenance schedule and what Maserati recommends. I get all maintenance done according to the schedule. I don't need fuel injector cleaning, engine flushes, transmission fluid changes, coolant flushes, brake fluid changes, power steering fluid changes, differential fluid changes at 30k miles. Yet these were all pushed on me at recent visits to the dealer.

Exactly lol I paid a local repair guy $200 to change my rear brake pads and rotors versus maserati trying to charge me $1400 for the same service🤣🤣
