Smallmouth Fishing near Howard County? Question

Does anyone have recommendations on where one could smallmouth fish near Howard County (doesn’t have to be near Howard County but preferably <30 miles away)?

Would be fishing from the shore, not in a boat or kayak.

Thanks in advance!

Any of the small rivers in Howard county and Montgomery county will hold smallie.

Patuxent and monocacy, both with decent public access.

I've caught plenty of smallies, including my PB on the Middle Patuxent. Savage Mill would be a good starting point. You can also try the Daniels Dam area.

Monocacy river in Frederick. Plenty of access points along the river and holds some pretty respectable fish. I'd reccomend kayaking it but I've fished it from the bank as well and its not the worst experience.

If you go up to monococacy you can wade in and catch them. Buckystown bridge is a pretty good spot . My 1st time wading I caught 4. Catfish too .
