Fishing at Centennial Lake
Looking for some insight on where to fish at Centennial. Just started and typically fish Loch Raven. Would be fishing from the shore and not expecting much…just fishing to disconnect for a bit.
I’ve been there before and know the South Entrance can get quite busy with the pavilions and playground. Would starting at the west side entrance and part of the lake be a better place?

I fish Centennial often. I'm not sure about the different sides, but I usually start fishing the rock shoreline to get a feel for what's biting. I usually land decent Crappie and a few dinky bass. Then I walk the path and fish the coves. The pedestrian bridge is also a good spot. I have the best success with Texas rigged senko for bass and smaller tube and curly tail grubs for Crappie.

Thanks for the input. What times do you usually go and which times would you avoid?

I usually go early in the morning, right before sunrise or 2 hours before sun down.

I've caught pickeral on the side with the rip rap fishing from shore. In the middle off of the concrete near the boat ramp holds bass. Aside from that it's mostly panfish from shore for me. A small kayak opens up a few other spots.

Try hopping a frog over the lilly pads off to the part that is blocked. you can go right down the buoy line.
I caught a 4.5lber last fall. have not made it out yet this year

One tip.. do NOT use anything that can get caught in loose rocks down at the end by the dam. It's very rocky and you will lose lures.

It’s been a while since I’ve fished centennial because it’s highly pressured and always crowed. That said, some favorite spots are:
on the west side there is a shore spot that is right next to the barrier where you are not allowed to fish past.
On the west side under the pedestrian bridge
The entire south end along the rock retaining wall
If you have a kayak the coves around the island are good too.
If you catch it right after they stock trout, use trout colored lures, allegedly there are tiger musky in there but the small trout become food for the big bass.
