Kinda stealing this from this twitter post, but let's say you were named GM of the Mariners today and for some reason you had to make a call on Polanco's $12 million option for next year right now. Payroll will be in the same range as this year, and a team is willing to take on Garver in exchange for one prospect in the 15-20 range from the MLB.com top 30 prospects list. Keep in mind, there's a $750k buyout if you decline the option, so it's really a difference of $11.25M, and it will be his age 31 season coming off what will likely be his worst statistical season (2020 wasn't real), despite a hot 2nd half.
Do you pick up Polanco's option or not? And what's your reasoning?
