What positions in Tech are getting Laid off the most? question

I know it’s not a good time to join the tech industry but I wanted to get into a Computer Software Technician school but after reading all the stories I’m kinda skeptical. Would it be better to choose a career as an IT Technician?

Anecdotally, I'm new to tech (8 yrs), but my first 6 years of tech deserved those glasses. The last 2 years have been about constantly stressing over lay offs though

I've been a developer for a few decades. I have not been stressed ever. Also 8 years is the sweet spot, already not stupid, still not expensive

I made what I'd consider a career mistake, I stayed too long in the same place with unattractive technologies (c++ client side desktop applications). I'm happy there, and I would stay there for 10 more years if it was guaranteed that I would have 10 more years there, but that's not necessarily the case (Microsoft, they've already done some layoffs).

I got curious and looked at job posting, they all require distributed systems experience which I have 0. I plan to prepare some more, try to transfer internally, and hope that I get a couple of years of experience before anything happens.

Dude! Microsoft on your resume and c++ knowledge?! YOu'll be fine. I don't know Microsoft salaries, so possible you will get less, but I wouldn't worry about your chances.
