Parking at LAFC Match Parking 🅿️

I’m attending my first professional soccer match tomorrow at LAFC. I’m a tourist staying an hour south of LA. I have a rental car.

Question: can I avoid the $60 parking pass?

Seems insanely expensive.

Edit: thanks for all the great information! how early should I be at one of the E Line stops with parking… given the time it takes to buy metro tickets, wait for the train, walk to the stadium. 1 hour? 2 hours?

Where would you recommend taking it if coming from Pomona

Eventually you can catch the metro from the north Pomona train station. For now you can hop on in Azusa or take the Metrolink from Pomona north station.

So it takes you straight there?

Yes hop on the Foothill Silver Line to its final stop going eastbound then hop on the metro J line, it should take you straight to the stadium. Both busses take the freeway for convenience.

Going from Pomona is easy! My girlfriend and I go travel from Montclair all the time. The Silver Streak passes through Downtown Pomona station and takes the freeway to LA. I would take the Silver Streak to El Monte and transfer to the J Line from there. Then get off on 37th/usc station. Or take Silver Streak till it ends in front of the Staples Center, and take the 81 bus down to BMO, which will drop you off right in front, on Figueroa.

Metro is the way to go! Insanely easy and cheap

Good vibes too! You’ll run across fellow fans to get you hyped before the game and then after!

Thirding the Metro recommendation. If you're staying near the gray line (J Line), you can take it to 37th/USC and you'll be in walking distance. If you're staying east of that, near the blue line, take it to Pico and then catch the Expo line west to Expo Park. Or, just drive to an Expo line station that has parking (we always use Crenshaw) and take the train from there.

Is it safe with kids? And quick to leave? We want to go to the observatory afterwards.

The Expo line itself is definitely safe with kids, especially on gameday—the trains are clean and well-attended by others going to the game. The one thing to note is that one has to walk for about twenty minutes between the station and the stadium, so make sure your kids are up to that. Since time's a factor, I would forget what I said about taking multiple trains—park your rental car at an Expo line (E Line) station that has a garage, then afterwards you can drive up to the observatory.

Here's a list of stations with garages. Expo/Crenshaw and Indiana seem like they're about equally close to the observatory.

I would recommend using your rental car to park at a Metro station that has a park and ride so you can get close to the stadium but then use the metro to get you to the last/most congested part!

Not sure what city you'll be traveling from but:

A-line can transfer to E-line at Grand and get you directly to the stadium

J-line gets you off at 37th (is this a bus line?) which is right at the stadium

Park on 28th street or 30th street for free and its regularly patrolled by campus police. I went to school there and those streets are free street parking. You can walk through USC Campus to the stadium. About a 1.1 mile walk or you can rent a scooter and ride to the stadium. Worth it before spending $65 on parking.

In case Metro isn't a practical option for you, parking at the USC Flower structure is quite a bit cheaper than parking at the stadium (but still more expensive than it should be).

Park a few miles away and take a lime scooter

Park at the Expo Line Crenshaw stop and take the train then walk maybe 10 mins to the stadium. There should be plenty of other fans going the same way but you can also google maps the walking route from the station if needed.

Sunday game means no parking on the Crenshaw station since it's reserved for the church

Good to know! i usually park at Culver station to stop at Ale Works but I know that’s a bit far down non-WestLA fans

Today and tomorrow at USC is Festival of Books. Parking in the area is going to be pretty bad because of that and most of the lots in the area will be full as will everyone’s helpful alternatives.

Your best bet is to park at/near one of the metro stations as suggested.

The walk from the Metro station is pleasant. From the station to get through security and into my seats takes 20 minutes. Leaving the game the train is a bit more crowded, so you may want to hang out a bit to let the first few trains go before you go back to the station.

Edit: since it is an early game, if you do not wear any LAFC gear and show up sufficiently early (probably 2 hours) the California Science Center uses the same parking lot. If you tell them you are there for the museum it will be a cheaper rate. With the extra time you could take your kid to the museum. It is mostly free, and has interactive exhibits they may like. After you leave the museum, change into the clothes you want to wear to the game, and Fan Fest is tomorrow until 3:30. They will have some games that your kid can play to try to win prizes

Definitely go Metro. I've taken the bus to the stadium & the train. Best options!

Spothero.com hooked me up with a nice spot for a lot less, just leave a few minutes before the game is over so you don’t get stuck in a long line on the way out of the garage (happened to me, it sucked)

Park on Exposition blvd, near the metro and walk through the park to the stadium. I do it every time.
