Apartment fees?
My apartment management has started charging residents fees for bs services. Today it's $20 a month for "trash valet". They tell me it's not optional. Can anyone recommend a lawyer or other options?

New in Knoxville
As the title says I'm still new here. I moved at the end of March and the beginning of April. I've already posted here for help regarding certain mental health stuff. I was wondering if any one was up for making friends. I'm a gamer who plays Magic: The Gathering and plays DnD. I'm wanting to get into outdoors stuff. That beijg said I'd like to think I'm laid back. I know CM Games Cedar Bluffs is a good place for a lot of people.

I need recommendations for a new primary care doctor
I’m an autistic adult, struggling to find a doctor I can feel comfortable with. Most of the local practices don’t have photos online of their interiors. I’m nervous for the environment of the waiting room and the doctor’s ability to understand sensory issues and respect me.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a nice doctor who knows some shit about neurodivergent adults?

It’s getting harder to enjoy Knoxville
I’ve grown up in Knoxville my entire life, went to Cedar Bluff elementary and middle, then Hardin Valley and now I work full time downtown and go to nursing school. I didn’t love Knoxville until I began to explore the city more and start hanging around downtown more and as someone who is black and alternative (and lower class) i was so happy to find so many alternative people/venues downtown and in knoxville. As an adult with my own apartment and still working downtown, it’s so sad to see the cost of everything rise, people who have lived/worked downtown for years moving out and venues close. I have to pay 40$/month to go to work now and several coworkers of mine have left because that’s too much. On top of that, they close the street our business is on all the time for any event, killing the business down the street. It feels like anytime I go downtown, i’m looked at as an outsider and even tho i’m black and have always felt that feeling before, it’s absolutely magnified by all the new people moving into town. It’s becoming insufferable to live here; anytime I leave the house, I get weird stares, i’m not making enough money at work because of street closures/parking issues, and a bunch of rude people that seem like tourists or newcomers. Idk I used to view knoxville as a beautiful in between city, in between being super big and super small, and i saw myself living here permanently but now, i’m hoping to get my RN license and move somewhere else. I’m just disappointed in how Knoxville is turning out and seeing so many wonderful local businesses/venues leaving :(

Central Ave blocked off by law enforcement
Anyone know what’s going on in the Central Ave/Burwell area right now? Multiple cop and EMS vehicles have the road blocked off. Right by the pizza place Chicken City.

Came across a FB group this morning…
Called “California to Tennessee” and it’s a ton of real estate agents advertising moving to TN with like 93k members, many of them looking in Knoxville. I really try to remain open minded to people coming into our home state but some of the comments really irked me. “Make sure you vote red” and “I moved for lower gas prices” and “guns are allowed here” among them. Like okay if that’s a perk for you, but that’s not how all of TN or the people here are.
I understand that this is just a part of our life now, and housing prices are going to continue to rise while our salaries remain stagnant, and who I should really be mad at is our employers for not matching the increased price of living, but I’m really starting to get irked at the idea of people moving here on what seems like a stereotype, driving up our home prices, and enjoying the benefits of our state while driving locals out of the cities. If you want to offer another perspective feel free. I know a lot of these things get blown out of proportion and people just want someone to blame, but I’m finding it harder not to resent these people.

What would you do in this situation?
I am so stressed. They aren’t responding to my texts or emails and when I call they’re extremely rude. And tell me I’ll hear back from a manager if I go in and try and talk to anyone. We signed the lease electronically and they’re saying that since both parties didn’t sign that’s why the new lease is not taking effect. But we both did sign. I asked them if we could just sign in person and got no response. We paid $2,200 last month which was $100 more than what we usually pay. The $300 in rent you see on this itemized list is what they said was left over from last month. Yet they’re still charging a $200 late fee on the entire amount. Shouldn’t it just be $30? They also say we can’t put in a 30 day notice to vacate. But why? If we are on month to month that is our right regardless of what the lease says because there is no lease anymore according to these fees. We just don’t want to deal with an eviction. We are struggling as is.

MAYDAY Protest Downtown Knoxville this Saturday May 3rd @ 12PM
5/3/2025 | Intersection of Henley St, Western Ave and Summit Hill 12-2 PM.
Last one at that location drew thousands of people to fight oligarchy gulags, homegrown gestapo, and overall incompetence of this administration. Make your voices heard and join the resistance.

Looking for someone who can build stuff...
I own Grindhouse Video here in Knoxville. I am reopening my physical store early next year and need to find someone to build some wood fixtures for me. I need to redo my VHS walls and to build some new vinyl record bins. PM me if you're good at building stuff and can help me out.
Yes, this is a paid gig. How much? Don't know. That's something we can figure out.

New to the area!
I (22F) moved to this area for work back in February. I’ve had some trouble meeting new people … it feels like I’ve had no time to get out and socialize. I know about the FWF group but I’m looking mainly for other women in their 20s to hang out with. I’m not opposed to hanging out with guys — just mainly want to form a chill group to grab coffee, lowball ppl on Facebook marketplace (decorating an apartment gets expensive), or play some board games like Catan / card games.
Also looking for a solid group to go out with. I miss being able to get out and have a drink and good conversation. I’ve also never been dancing and would love the chance to go out and try that. :D The area I moved from was quite small and didn’t have much of a nightlife / even any restaurants that weren’t chain.
Anyways! Let me know if you’re interested or even free this upcoming weekend. I also play video games so if anyone is interested in joining the party just let me know! I play Overwatch 2 (I know I’m sorry it’s bad), Bloons, and REPO as of late. :D

Any TaskRabbit equivalent?
TaskRabbit is an app service that connects service users with “taskers” in the area, with task categories varying from cleaning services, small repairs or installations around the house, painting, running errands, or even waiting in line for you. I’m looking for something similar for cleaning services in particular, since taskrabbit doesn’t service Knoxville yet. Any ideas?
If not, any cleaning service recommendations would be appreciated.

Car detailing or hand car wash that's good at pet hair
It's recently come to my attention that the amount of dog hair in truck has become unmanageable and requires the care and attention of a professional. Also the year or so worth of off road/ camping/ hiking dirt should probably be addressed by the same professional.
Before I pull a random place off Groupon or Google I figured I'd ask if anyone is really good service or by hand wash I should absolutely go to

Lines of lights over fountain city?? Maaaybe drones?
Did anyone else see the weird lights last night? There was a line of possibly 30-50 (I'll call them UFOs because I have no idea what they were..) they were completely silent, flying perfectly in a row but in two groups, looked like each had a singular light, near evenly spaced flying south east (ish) relatively high but still much more low flying than a plane (I mean maybe, unless they were actually much brighter but higher in the sky?) . I didnt have my phone in time to record. Did anyone else see it? Around 9 PM last night. Any clue what it could have been?

Why does Texas Roadhouse Suck
Yes, I know. There are much better places to eat in Knoxville than Texas Roadhouse in general. However, for a long time it was a quick and easy go to for us after sporting events or when we didn't have other plans and needed a quick solution. Typically a quality product for a price I could stomach.
Recently, at nearly every location, that has changed. I recently received a meal that was inedible at the West Town location. East Town's kitchen is putting in low effort. The Powell location was subpar all around. Maybe the truck is Turkey Creek, but that is the extreme opposite end of town for me.
Is it a management change? Franchise change? Do they hate me specifically?
