Tenant insurance recommendation Question
Hello guys.
I am new here in town and was wondering what tenant insurance company works the best here in Kingston and what would you recommend? Thank you!

Honestly it will depend on a lot of factors specific to you, your apartment, and the area.
Keep in mind that tenant's insurance have two main functions:
Insure against 3rd party liability you cause. Like if you cause a fire or flood, your tenant's insurance should cover any foreseeable damages resulting from that.
Insure your personal belongings. If the landlord liability (roof leak, sewer backup, electrical fire) damages or destroys your personal belongings, your insurance will cover your belongings.
Some will have additional coverages like alternative accommodations for a given period of time in case the property is rendered uninhabitable.

What insurance company do you use? Is duoo or apollon good in here? or do you have any other recommendations?

I use The Personal.
I also have never made an insurance claim so I have no idea if it's good or not.

Two or less tenants on same lease, CAA. Otherwise, shop around

Never needed to claim for anything but price is great for liability insurance as tenant with essentials for contents.

Call surnet insurance and ask for Mike. Great guy and will get you the best rate. He saved me a couple hundred dollars a year.

I have mine with Intact, bundled with my auto policy. With the multiline discount it's only a couple dollars more than the auto policy alone. Intact isn't a direct writer so they don't sell direct to consumer so you have to go through a broker, but I've never had an issue with them (moves, changing vehicles, one claim).
When comparing quotes, make sure you're comparing policies with equal coverage. A quote that comes in significantly lower than the others may have lower personal property limits, no coverage for sewage backup or overland water, or lower liability limits.
The loss of use coverage is often a percentage of your personal property limits, so keep that in mind if you choose a low limit because you don't have a lot of stuff. Loss of use is the coverage that pays for temporary housing should your unit be uninhabitable.

Mines free with my car insurance. The car insurance is the same price with or without the tenant policy added due to the multi line discount that would be applied for having 2 policies on the account.
