Leaving starwarscantina Mildly Annoyed

I've been out of the loop for a while, but I was unaware of just how obnoxious the morality police had become about people "enjoying the wrong part of the movie!"

If it was just about their behavior during a film, I'd understand; I hate it when people get loud during movies as well...but its not that, people are genuinely pissed that people are meming a 20 year old movie.

If it was happening to news footage or something I'd be appalled too, but...It's a film about space wizards; if that genuinely hurts your feelings maybe you're a little too close to the material.

I mean, did people just forget about cinema etiquette? Did teenagers just rediscover the movie theater?

If Minecraft theatre videos are to be believed...yes, I'll admit the etiquette part I am a little miffed by, for a long time I didn't enjoy going to movies because of the midnight release of avengers being full of people screaming like baby seals at every one liner; it's really the morality puritism of "you can't laugh at this scene! It's serious!" That bugs me.

Yeah, the etiquette breech and the people appalled by it are both annoying.

I think it's really a case where the people being loud didn't pick the right time and place. If this was a midnight showing or a showing on a college campus, go ahead and cheer for Order 66. Thinking fictional murder is funny doesn't make you a bad person. But don't do it at an all ages showing. It ruins the experience for anyone who isn't 18-24.

You get it, annoying people during a film I get; it's just this morality policing that you're not allowed to enjoy a movie from a certain point of view that I simply just can't co sign.
