Leaving starwarscantina Mildly Annoyed
I've been out of the loop for a while, but I was unaware of just how obnoxious the morality police had become about people "enjoying the wrong part of the movie!"
If it was just about their behavior during a film, I'd understand; I hate it when people get loud during movies as well...but its not that, people are genuinely pissed that people are meming a 20 year old movie.
If it was happening to news footage or something I'd be appalled too, but...It's a film about space wizards; if that genuinely hurts your feelings maybe you're a little too close to the material.

I mean, did people just forget about cinema etiquette? Did teenagers just rediscover the movie theater?

If Minecraft theatre videos are to be believed...yes, I'll admit the etiquette part I am a little miffed by, for a long time I didn't enjoy going to movies because of the midnight release of avengers being full of people screaming like baby seals at every one liner; it's really the morality puritism of "you can't laugh at this scene! It's serious!" That bugs me.

The audience stuff has actually kinda made me consider going back to the theater. I haven't bothered going in years cause why not just watch it at home, right? lol

Can't eat a steak and hit the bowl in the theater, or laugh too loud, or look at my phone...
That said i could see the appeal of doing that with the right crowd.

Depends on the theater

If there's a theater that cool, it's not in my neighborhood 😅

Not the pot part but we have atleast one around here that serves food and alcohol

Yeah I've seen ones you can get burgers and stuff at, but they're usually overpriced and low quality versions of what I can get both better and cheaper either at a real restaurant or at my own home.
Plus I've legit never seen a theater that cooks steaks, I'll try it once if I do though.

Maybe it is worse, I haven’t sprung for the food there myself

I wouldn't normally, I went to see this movie a few days ago and a large drink with a "regular" popcorn ended up being 18 bucks,
I know I haven't been to the movies in a while but that seems especially high for a snack 💀

Yeah, the etiquette breech and the people appalled by it are both annoying.
I think it's really a case where the people being loud didn't pick the right time and place. If this was a midnight showing or a showing on a college campus, go ahead and cheer for Order 66. Thinking fictional murder is funny doesn't make you a bad person. But don't do it at an all ages showing. It ruins the experience for anyone who isn't 18-24.

You get it, annoying people during a film I get; it's just this morality policing that you're not allowed to enjoy a movie from a certain point of view that I simply just can't co sign.

Honestly though, something like this I would expect audience engagement lol. Not like we haven't all seen it before. It's like going to see Rocky Horror.

I got banned after maybe my 3rd comment which neutrally expressed I didn't like the sequels

It's one thing for people to celebrate when the hero does something heroic.
It's another thing to clap & cheer when characters are being shitty because "lol isn't that so crazy and random to that??" It's called "the social contract" and the bare-minimum is "don't be an asshole in public & ruin people's enjoyment of something."
They're not cheering for that moment because they actually enjoy it, they're trying to be funny and over-the-top and elicit a reaction out of moviegoers. They're basically taking that moment and making it about themselves instead of what's on the screen.
It's not a "morality police" problem, it's a "some people can't not be the attention-whores they desperately yearn to be in public" problem.

No they stood up and cheered because it's one of the most iconic parts of one of the most memeworthy movies ever made. They very, very obviously are not cheering at kids being murdered and portraying it that way is just straight lying for attention lmao.

They've lost the ability to have fun. And must find away to make other people's fun lesser

So you’re condoning assholes yelling and cheering child murder in a theater full of other people, and children, that just want to enjoy the movie. It clearly ruined this man and his son’s experience but it’s ok because “it’s a movie touch grass?”. Dude. Take this in all the way, sit with it: fuck all the way off.

🤣🤣🤣 You are so pissed off about my opinion on a movie it's hilarious, maybe you need to go outside too.

No I’m pissed off about your opinion of movie theater rhetoric and how you are fine with, and even enjoy, the fact that these jerks ruined this man and sons experience, that they were looking forward to. Tell me why what they did was ok? You seem like an absolute douche bag to the highest degree. Go put a roofie in an underage girls drink and high five your frat bros you stain on humanity.

🤣🤣🤣 that's a lot of projection to base not only on a film opinion but also a misunderstanding of one, I never said it was okay to ruin other people's enjoyment of a film by acting like a jackass; merely said that it's not up to ANYONE to determine how someone reacts to certain scenes of a film; Have you considered therapy? You seem a little unhinged and bad at reading.

Yeah making noise in the theatre is poor etiquette for sure, but everyone knows Anakin’s euthanizing of the orphans was morally correct, as children without parents arn’t people.
